With her flight back to Lima just a day away, Jimin's sitting on the floor of her bedroom surrounded by piles of clothes attempting to pack her bags. Usually, she works pretty efficiently and can get it over and done with in a flash but that doesn't seem to be the case this time.
No. This time around, she keeps gravitating to her phone and envying all the people that are partying their asses off somewhere in Florida. Half her squad is in Panama City, some of her classmates brag about being in Key West while everyone else seems to be anywhere else but here!
A few months ago, Jimin would be right there with them too but where is she now? In her damn room, packing for a trip back to Lima, Ohio – being responsible is so shit.
─
"Yo Jimin!" Jaemin shouts followed by the sound of the front door shutting. "Where you at?"
"Here!" Jimin calls out as she lounges on a pile of clothes and scrolls through social media. It's been another hour and all she's done is pick out a pair of shoes to add to her suitcase.
Clearly she's making great progress.
A couple seconds later, Jaemin appears in her bedroom doorway.
"Damn, you're still doing this?" He asks. "I thought you'd be done by now."
"Me too," Jimin sighs as she sits up. "I keep getting distracted by all the fun shit people are doing. You see Aeri's in fucking Cancun? Bitch left the damn country for Spring break! God, I wish my parents were rich."
Jaemin chuckles, "Would be nice."
"Would be fantastic!" Jimin grumbles. "Yizhuo and Somi are with her too and look at this caption! I'll never wear normal clothes again. Margaritas and bikinis: best combo ever."
Jaemin peers at her phone and grins, "I mean...they're not wrong. Bikinis are hot."
That earns him a disapproving glare, "You gotta let things breathe or else someone's coming back with a tan and a yeast infection."
Jaemin scrunches his nose, "Dude. I don't need that image."
"I'm just keeping it real. It should be me out there with a damn margarita in both hands laying out on a beach somewhere getting my tan on." Jimin throws herself down again on her clothes pile dramatically, "Can you tell I'm having regrets about agreeing to go home for the break?"
"A little," Jaemin laughs. "But I might have something that'll lift your spirits."
Jimin pouts, "What could you possibly say that could do that?"
"Well," Jaemin starts to smirk. "Remember my buddy Johnny from the team? He's got this place over break and he's having a party. Like Project X style, blow your mind and make you forget about Mexico kind of party."
"It's a Thursday."
"It's also Spring Break," Jaemin explains. "There's a party every night, but this is the only one that matters. You've got to come with, it'll be epic! I'm talking girls, alcohol, girls– "
"I'm in a relationship, Jaemin."
"Yeah, a fake one."
Jimin gives him an unamused look, "Still. I don't condone cheating, even if it's on my fake girlfriend."
Jaemin scoffs, "You were fine with it when you hooked up with Jasmine?"
"Jasmine hooked up with me," Jimin clarifies. "And technically, her and her boyfriend were on a break so it doesn't even really count. This, however, is different."
"Okay whatever," Jaemin waves off. "You can just go for a good time and let me pick up all the girls for once."
Jimin smirks, "It would be funny to see you try."
Jaemin scowls, "Don't hate. There's going to be a pool there too and you know what I'm working with under this shirt. I'll have all the ladies flocking to me. I'll be a chick magnet!"
When Jaemin starts flexing, Jimin throws a shoe at him.
"Please stop, before you pull a muscle."
Jaemin laughs as he settles down, "So how about it? You'll go with me?"
Knowing her, she probably wouldn't do well being surrounded by all that temptation and slipping up like that would so not be a good look for her if news of her dirty deeds happened to trickle back to her mom. Plus, she still has bags to pack, not to mention the study session she has with Minjeong later...
"I don't know," Jimin shakes her head. "I've got a lot to do before the flight tomorrow and I'd rather not travel with a hangover. Plus I told Minjeong I'd meet up with her later."
"Damn Yu," Jaemin starts to tease. "Do you need to ask your girl for permission or something?"
Jimin's jaw clenches, "First of all, she's not my girl. Secondly, I don't need to ask permission for shit."
"There she is!" Jaemin cheers. "That's the Jimin I know."
Jimin waves him off, "Alright. Say I did want to go to this thing tonight...I need a time and a place."
Jaemin punches the air and Jimin instantly regrets caving. But hey, it's been a while since her and Jaemin have been out – she might as well throw him a bone for once.
"I'm going around ten," Jaemin tells her. "We can go together?"
"Okay cool."
A big part of her is actually excited about tonight, but there's also that tiny little voice that makes her second-guess her decision. When her and Jaemin link up – at a party no less – it's not always the best combination for good choices. And before, that would be the best part about going out with Jaemin – the possible trouble they could get into – but not now, not when she's so close to her goal.
If she were to do something stupid just because she doesn't know how to keep it in her pants, she wouldn't know how to forgive herself. It's that thought that has her considering some possible help to keep her in line.
"Maybe I'll extend the invite to Minjeong too?" Jimin suggests lightly which has Jaemin's brows rising. "What? She's had a pretty rough week, alright? She might want to let loose too."
She waits for more jokes about being whipped or whatever, but surprisingly the opposite happens: Jaemin's down to include Minjeong.
"Hell yeah!" Jaemin cheers. "Do it! It would be so cool to hang out with two of my best buds. Plus I've heard Minjeong likes to party and I've just got to see that for myself! It'll be so much fun!"
Jimin floods with relief and nods along with him, "Totally. I'll ask when I see her."
─
Awhile later, Jimin's making her way into the library with a couple iced coffees in hand. It was a last-minute decision to stop by the café, but she needed the afternoon pick-me-up and she doubts Minjeong would ever say no to a free drink.
As she gets inside, Jimin finds that the place is practically a ghost town. It makes sense though, who in their right mind would spend the break at the library of all places anyway?
Minjeong, of course, and Jimin spots the blonde in her usual spot almost instantly.
There's always something eye-catching whenever Jimin makes her way up the steps and finds Minjeong sitting there studiously working. Although she gives her a lot of shit, when it comes to nerdy blondes – Minjeong's so far from the stereotype it's crazy.
Who else does their math problems in color pencil? Who else still uses Koosh pens, like where'd she even get those from? Don't even get her started on the stack of stickers she keeps with her at all times.
But the most puzzling thing is, what kind of nerd is that pretty?
That last thought has Jimin's heel catching on the final step, nearly sending her in a coffee-soaked tumble down two flights of stairs. Thankfully, she has excellent reflexes and is able to catch herself before anyone sees. Not that there's anyone else around. It's only Minjeong and—
"What the hell?" Jimin breathes out as she makes her way over.
At the end of Minjeong's table sits Jake and the two are so entranced in their own conversation that they don't notice Jimin until she's a couple steps away. Knowing Minjeong's reason though, Jimin bites her cheek – not wanting to rock the boat.
But that doesn't stop her from tightening her grip on the iced coffees in hand. Would be such a shame if she were to squeeze too tightly and have the lid pop off. Maybe she'd trip again – she's just so clumsy – and maybe she'd conveniently aim for Jake and maybe—
"Hey, you're early!" Minjeong grins up at Jimin. "And you brought coffee!"
"I did," Jimin returns the smile as she comes around to sit next to her fake girlfriend. She accepts a kiss on the cheek from Minjeong as she hands over the drink.
"This is just what I needed," Minjeong beams. "Thank you."
"All good, babe," Jimin replies but she keeps her eyes trained on Jake. "Sorry I didn't bring you anything, I didn't know you'd be here."
"That's okay," Jake responds. "I'm not a fan of coffee."
Jimin blinks; what kind of college student doesn't like coffee? This guy just sucks all around!
"Right," Jimin nods before wrapping her arm around Minjeong. "So what's going on?"
"Jake was just stopping by," Minjeong explains and shows off some comic book. "Check it out."
Jimin scans the cover but has no idea what she's looking at, "That's cool."
"I picked up an extra copy since we both like the series," Jake says. "Minjeong and I always used to read them together."
Minjeong nods, "I still don't know how you always get the newest issues so fast."
"I've got connections," He winks.
Jimin practically gags.
"It was perfect timing though, running into him here," Minjeong says she turns to Jimin. "I was working on some things while I was waiting for you but a couple math problems had me stumped. Good thing Jake was around to help me work through it though."
Jimin can actually see his ego inflate in the way he puffs out his chest. She nearly rolls her eyes at him, but she resists the urge. This is what Minjeong wants so at least whatever Jimin's doing has worked in her favor.
"Great," Jimin fakes a smile. "How nice of him."
"Right?" Minjeong beams. "Total lifesaver."
"Of course," Jake shrugs casually. "Anything to help a fellow Brainiac. Although, I'm not sure how much longer Minjeong will have that title if she keeps getting grades like she did in English Lit."
Jimin's eyes widen and she can feel the way Minjeong tenses beside her. Just when Jake was nearly palpable, he goes and says something stupid to cancel it out.
"How did you know about that?" Minjeong asks. Jake can hear the tremble in her voice and it has her tightening her arm around Minjeong's shoulders.
"Results always get out," Jake says gravely. "Especially results like that."
"I've asked for a retake."
"That's good," Jake sits back and crosses his arms. "It's just not a good look for the team."
As soon as Jimin sees Minjeong's bottom lip start to poke out, she's about had it.
"Fuck your team, what about her?" Jimin snaps. "The hell kind of friend are you to kick someone when they're down? How do you think she feels about it? You think she wanted a grade like that?"
"Jimin– "
"No Minjeong," Jimin stops her as she rounds on Jake again. "What's the matter with you? You really need to learn how to talk to people, because you suck at it."
"I'm just being honest."
"And no one needs it! You're just being a dick yet again," Jimin corrects him. She feels herself winding up to continue going off but she notices Minjeong beside her and decides to tone it down. "I suggest you kindly fuck off while I'm still in a good mood. Minjeong and I have some work to do and honestly, the longer you stay the harder it will be to resist the urge to roll you down those stairs over there."
There's a perplexed look on Jake's face, but that shifts to something that looks a little like remorse which Jimin finds very surprising. She didn't think someone like him was capable of that kind of feeling and that's coming from her.
"I'm sorry," He says in a much softer tone. He looks to Minjeong and frowns, "Truly."
"Sure Jake," Minjeong nods. "I think Jimin's right though, you should probably go now."
Jimin's brows rise this time too.
Before, Minjeong was still attempting to make excuses for the guy but that doesn't seem to be the case now. After witnessing Minjeong's reaction to her exam results though, Jimin doesn't blame her. In fact, she might've even been a little disappointed if Minjeong were to let him off easy after a comment like that.
"Yeah, of course." He looks between the two and his frown deepens. It's like he actually realizes he fucked up this time and Minjeong's not having it. "Well, have a good rest of the break if I don't see you."
"We will," Jimin grins as he makes his exit. Once he's gone though, Jimin drops her arm from around Minjeong and laughs in disbelief. "That guy never ceases to amaze me."
"Yeah," Minjeong agrees but there's a familiar sadness there. "We were off to such a good start. I don't know what happened."
"He showed his true colors again?" Jimin jokingly suggests. When she doesn't see Minjeong smile, she softens. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I mean you're right," Minjeong shrugs dejectedly. "He's getting further and further away from the Jake I recognize. I don't know how long I can keep it up."
Jimin attempts to stay expressionless because what? That little bit of doubt is huge progress! She's a little envious of it actually, it took her years to make that kind of breakthrough.
"I'm right? And twice in one sitting?" Jimin tries lightening the mood, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. "That's got to be some type of record."
This time, a tiny smile forms and Jimin adds that to her scoreboard.
"I'm just as surprised," Minjeong jokes before a sad smile returns. "I just can't believe him, you know? How can he say that to me? Like, did he threaten to kick me off the Brainiacs or was he just being an ass?"
Jimin shrugs although she did get that vibe that he was threatening to kick Minjeong off of the team.
"He can't do that, there would need to be a vote. He's got pull because everyone idolizes him but he wouldn't have even become team captain if I didn't suggest it," Minjeong protests.
Jimin loves every minute of it. Plus it's a bonus that for once her aggression is aimed at Jake instead of her. It's like witnessing someone finally starting to see the metaphorical light and Jimin can't help but egg her on.
"He'd be nothing without you," Jimin confirms. "And for apparently being as smart as he is, that's pretty fucking stupid that he doesn't realize how important you are to his success."
It's like a lightbulb goes off for Minjeong in the way she nods in agreeance. Suddenly Jimin has a thought too – it's kind of a stroke of genius!
"You know what you should do?" Jimin prompts. "You should start your own team."
Minjeong's brows rise in surprise, "What?"
"Yeah!" Jimin encourages, "It's perfect timing too. The end of the semester is coming up so you'll have all summer to prep for it then you can open up registration in the Fall?"
Minjeong starts to shrink away, "I've never run my own team like that before."
Jimin shrugs, "How hard could it be? Besides, you'll probably be way happier on a team that doesn't give you shit all the time. Like think about it, are you happy with the way things are now?"
Minjeong ponders that, "I guess not."
"Then this is how you can change that."
"I don't know," Minjeong replies. "Jake wouldn't take too kindly to another team here."
Jimin scoffs, "What? He afraid of a little competition? Afraid you'll kick his ass? Afraid people will like you way more?"
Minjeong starts to smirk and Jimin adds that little smile to her scoreboard too.
"Seriously Minjeong," Jimin adds in a gentler tone. "I think you could do this."
"I wouldn't know where to start..."
"I might know someone who could help you get started too," Jimin replies. "There's a girl, she has a lot of experience in starting clubs."
Minjeong starts to smirk, "She one of your former hook-ups?"
"Why?" Jimin quirks her brow as she jokes. "Would it make you jealous?"
Minjeong instantly rolls her eyes, "No, but it would be a little awkward considering we're supposed to be a couple and you've got some old fling helping me out."
Jimin laughs, "Well you don't have to worry. She's so not my type."
"Like that's stopped you before."
"True," Jimin smiles confidently. "But there's no way in hell I'd ever with her. She's just someone that tried enlisting me in some girl group she has. She was very persistent – which can you blame her? My vocals are on point."
Minjeong rolls her eyes again although she grins.
"I told her though, I only sing for two people: my mom and Jesus," Jimin jokes. "But I haven't done the latter since my grandma made me join the choir when I was younger and that did not last long."
"You sing for me," Minjeong reminds her.
"I – okay that was one time," Jimin stumbles. "And it also doesn't count."
"Why not?"
"Because."
"Because why?" Minjeong presses with her eyes dazzling mischievously. "Am I special?"
"No," Jimin quickly dismisses.
"Then why?"
Jimin has to look away, "Because! Look, this isn't about me. Okay? As I was saying...I think you should do it – the new team thing and if you want I can get you in contact with someone who could help."
Minjeong stares at Jimin for a moment before nodding.
"Okay, I'll think about it," Minjeong finally answers. "Thanks."
"It's cool," Jimin shrugs casually. She deflates a little in a relieving exhale, "No biggie."
"No really," Minjeong turns to her and there's a new kind of softness about her. "I haven't had many people in my life that believe in me the way you do. It's nice."
Her words have Jimin shivering. She doesn't really know how to react to the statement. She figures this is what friends do, say nice things about each other, but you wouldn't really see her having this kind of talk with Jaemin so it's new territory.
"First I'm right and now I'm nice?" Jimin attempts to joke to mask her awkwardness. "You feeling okay?"
Minjeong sighs through a smile as she averts her gaze, "Yeah. I've clearly got a screw loose. It's been a big week and that thing with Jake definitely didn't help."
Suddenly, Jimin remembers something – one of the reasons why she's here.
"Well, I know just the thing to help you unwind..."
Minjeong looks back at her warily, "This sounds familiar."
"Jaemin and I are going to this thing tonight," Jimin says vaguely. "You want to come with?"
Minjeong tilts her head to the side, "You're inviting me out with you?"
"And Jaemin."
"Right."
Jimin goes to scratch at the back of her neck, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious.
"It'll be fun. I just figured it might be a better way to spend your night rather than the hiding away in here," Jimin explains as she waves to the stacks of books surrounding them. "Seems kind of lonely."
Minjeong studies her again with this small smile, "I was actually going to do some work in the lab again."
"Same thing," Jimin shrugs.
Minjeong giggles, "Have you ever been to the robotics lab?"
Jimin quirks her brow, "Do I look like I have?"
"Good point."
"Anyway, you don't have to come," Jimin brushes off. "I just thought I'd offer."
"Well thanks for thinking of me, but I might be a little busy."
"Really?" Jimin nearly frowns – she wasn't expecting a no. "It's going to be an epic night and the guest list is pretty exclusive. This is kind of a once in a lifetime thing."
"College parties aren't once in a lifetime. They're more like once every week."
"You've clearly never been to one of one Johnny's parties..."
Minjeong laughs at the way Jimin lifts her chin as if Minjeong would ever forget she's part of an elite crowd since she's on the cheerleading squad and she's best friends with a star footballer. Jimin's just being sure though, after all her ego is just the tiniest bit bruised after Minjeong didn't give her a straight answer.
"Well in that case," Minjeong jokes. "I might be around if I finish up on time."
Jimin smirks at the sound of her own excuse being used against her, but she doesn't push Minjeong any further. She doesn't want to seem desperate or anything. Instead, they go on to focus on what they're actually meeting for – revision work on their assignment.
A little part of Jimin just hopes that Minjeong's only pulling her leg, that maybe she really will be around if she finishes up on time.
─
While Jimin gets ready, she tries her very best not to eye the time. She feels like she's been here once before and she kind of hates how the roles have been reversed. The waiting game sucks but what's even worse is that she's actually pressed about it.
Minjeong hasn't said a word since they parted ways earlier and it really has Jimin wondering: will she or won't she show up?
As it gets closer to ten, Jimin begins to lose hope. This is probably what Minjeong must've felt like when Jimin was dragging her feet around the time of the Brainiacs' Ball. God, she wishes she could take it back now – payback is definitely a bitch!
But then she hears a knock at the front door and instantly perks up. "Got it!" Jaemin calls out.
While he grabs the door, Jimin goes to the mirror and checks herself out one last time. If it's Minjeong then Jimin wants her to be floored by all this perfection.
Her makeup is on point, her hair falls in flawless waves, her outfit is sure to drop jaws, her ass looks great, her tits look even better and her legs are silky smooth which will most likely go to waste because she won't have anyone feeling her up. But that's fine because she looks hot as hell and that's good enough for her at the time being.
With a last spritz of perfume, Jimin comes sauntering out of her room with her hips swaying. She walks with purpose, with confidence, with–
"Damn," Jimin breathes out when she first sees Minjeong leaning against their kitchen counter.
She freezes mid-step, jaw hanging by the hinge, while her gaze unabashedly carries up Minjeong's body and all its sexy glory. Good thing neither of them have noticed her yet, because she's definitely leering.
Minjeong wears a blue jeans and Jimin can spot the curve of her hip bone poking out by the waistband and a toned stomach beneath her white shirt crop top. Apparently, Minjeong has abs. Not to mention those long legs of hers too!
What kind of nerd has a body like that?
Jimin's practically beside herself because no one – no one – has any business looking that fine! Which, let's be real, isn't new information to Jimin. The girl clocked Jimin for her looks the very first day she saw her, but she's never seen her quite like this. The skimpy outfit, the natural makeup that makes brown eyes pop – no, she hasn't seen this side of Minjeong at all.
And that's coming from a friend.
Friends check each other out, right? Because friends don't let friends go to a party looking a mess. Friends hype you up, friends let you know when you're looking drop-dead gorgeous. Then again, what would Jimin know? All the female friends she's ever had she ended up sleeping with!
"Hey Jimin!" Jaemin calls out without realizing she's in the room. "Minjeong's here!"
Jimin quickly shakes away the cloudy, confusing thoughts and gets her head back in the game before making her presence known.
"I see that," Jimin smirks as she makes her way over. She swallows dryly and tries to focus on keeping eye contact with Minjeong, "Guess you found the time after all."
"I considered making you wait even longer," Minjeong jokes. "But unlike someone I know, I'm not that mean."
"Burn," Jaemin laughs.
"I'll give you that," Jimin chuckles too. "I'm glad you came."
Minjeong grins at that before Jaemin's wrapping his arms around them both.
"This is going to be so much fun," Jaemin cheers. As he pulls away he goes to slide over a shot glass to each of them. "It's been a while since Jimin and I have gone out and I've always wanted to hang with you, Minjeong, so I'm pumped!"
"Well, thanks for the invite," Minjeong bows her head.
"Sure! And since you're our guest you can pick the poison to start us off," He offers as he presents a bottle of vodka and a bottle of tequila.
"Easy," Minjeong chuckles and reaches for the tequila.
"A girl after my own heart," Jaemin jokes as he turns to grab the salt and lime.
Jimin would have to agree.
─
They arrive at Johnny's place around 10:30 and things are already in full swing. There are people everywhere – Jimin even recognizes a couple girls from her squad – and the music is loud.
It's got good time written all over it and Jimin perks right up. She's missed being out like this, in amongst the nightlife and being the kind of crazy college kid Boomers complain about.
Jaemin leads the way while Jimin and Minjeong gravitate towards each other. They're holding hands, because appearances still need to be kept up but it also helps to keep them from getting split up – it's that crowded.
"Aye Jaemin's in the building!" Johnny greets as he comes down the stairs with a red cup in his hand.
"What up!" Jaemin knocks his fist with Johnny's once he's close enough, "You remember Jimin, right?"
"How could I forget?" Johnny jokes as he pretends to spar with her. "Girl's got a mean left hook!"
Jimin smirks, "Bet you know how to keep your hands to yourself now."
"You right!" Johnny bobs his head before looking to Minjeong. "I see you've brought your girl with you."
"Of course," Jimin smiles encouragingly to Minjeong, "This is Minjeong. Where I go, she goes."
"That's cute. Must be nice being boo'd up," Johnny teases as he extends his hand to Minjeong. "I'm Johnny."
"Nice to meet you," Minjeong replies somewhat timidly.
"Cool. Well, mi casa es tu casa!" Johnny tells them. "Drinks in the kitchen, DJ's out the back, don't get in the pool unless you can swim because I'm not saving nobody's ass."
"Noted," Jaemin daps him up one last time before Johnny goes back to mingling. Meanwhile, Jaemin leads the way to the kitchen with Jimin and Minjeong following close behind.
"What'd Johnny mean about the left hook?" Minjeong asks as they squeeze past a couple making out against the staircase. "Did you punch him?"
"I sure did," Jimin says confidently. "Fucker thought it would be cute to touch me without asking then kept doing it after I told him off so...had to be a little more forceful."
"Wow," Minjeong's brows rise before scanning the room. "I think I might be out of my depths here."
Jimin chuckles as she wraps her arm around her, "Don't worry. You're with us and we're a couple of pros."
Minjeong looks somewhat relieved by that, but Jimin's only guessing.
"Johnny's got the good shit tonight!" Jaemin beams as he sees the line up of various alcohols and mixers.
"Damn, he does! It's a step up from that Jungle Juice from last time," Jimin looks impressed as Minjeong comes to stand beside her. "What would you like, Minjeong?"
Judging by the look on Minjeong's face, Jimin can tell she's overwhelmed by everything. Those Brainiac Balls are one thing, but parties like this? A whole different world.
And if it was any other time, Jimin would probably head towards the Everclear – and have major regrets about it later – but she's a changed woman now. At least, she is for the night but that's not to say she'll keep it completely tame. She's still here for a good time after all.
So she lines up her usual suspects while she waits for Minjeong's answer.
"I'll just have whatever you're having," Minjeong answers.
Jimin quirks a brow, "You sure?"
"Jimin's a little heavy-handed when she pours," Jaemin teases as he mixes too much whiskey with his Coke.
"Speak for yourself," Jimin laughs before looking back at Minjeong. "Look at him mixing his liquors already, you know he's going to get fucked up."
"Damn...you're right," Jaemin stops mid-pour and looks down at his drink. He thinks for a moment longer before continuing to pour, "Fuck it. I'm not wasting it."
"See Minjeong?" Jimin smirks. "I told you you're with a couple of pros."
Minjeong chuckles, "Right."
"Maybe not Jaemin, but at least you're in good hands with me," Jimin jokes. "After about the third or fourth drink then it's every man for themselves."
Minjeong's eyes widen a little, almost in a look of terror.
"I'm joking," Jimin quickly amends. "I'll be good. I promise."
"Enough of the chatter," Jaemin grumbles as he waits with his finished drink and a hand on his hip. "I'm ready to cheers. Speed it up, Yu."
"Alright, alright!" Jimin waves him off and gets to work crafting her and Minjeong's drinks.
It's a little of this and a little of that before Jimin's reaching for the shaker. Minjeong watches with delight as Jimin slaps the tin over the glass and starts pumping her arms like a seasoned bartender.
"You know what they say about the face you make when you're doing that, right?" Jaemin asks Minjeong with this devious grin on his face as they both watch Jimin.
Minjeong frowns, "No?"
Jimin only shakes her head, averting her gaze to focus on anyone else in the room but Minjeong. She pays more attention to the way her hands turn cold against the shaker and how her forearms begin to burn from exertion.
"Apparently it's the face you make when you're in bed," Jaemin tells Minjeong. "Getting down and dirty."
"Oh," Minjeong actually starts to blush.
Meanwhile Jimin only rolls her eyes at Jaemin, "You just love telling everyone that. Don't you?"
"What? It's great!" Jaemin laughs before taking a deep gulp of his drink. "Let me have a go. Tell me if I've got a good face."
"You don't and I don't need you fucking up my drink to prove it," Jimin replies as she smacks the side of the shaker with her palm to release them.
"Rude," Jaemin frowns and takes another sip.
"Sorry not sorry," Jimin counters looking rather pleased with herself.
She reaches for a couple red cups and starts straining their cocktails into them. It kind of defeats the purpose of doing all that work just to pour into a plastic cup, but whatever. At least the drinks taste good.
"Alright Minjeong," Jimin says as she finishes off pouring. "Wrap your lips around that."
"Okay," Minjeong grins and goes to bring the cup to her lips when Jaemin interrupts.
"Uh cheers?" He asks expectantly as he holds out his cup to the couple.
"Whoops," Minjeong giggles before she and Jimin clink their plastic together. It's not as satisfying as glass, but again – who cares when the drinks are this good.
Minjeong goes in for her first sip and Jimin watches eagerly for her reaction. First, she pulls away from the cup with a contemplative look before going back in for a longer sip. This time though she comes away with a satisfied smile.
"Good?" Jimin asks before taking a sip of her own.
"Very," Minjeong nods. "Do you like moonlight as a bartender or something?"
Jimin chuckles, "Maybe in another life?"
"You'd be good at it," Minjeong smirks.
"Well, maybe if this whole lawyer gig doesn't pan out like I'm hoping then I'll give it a shot?"
"Hell yeah," Jaemin cheers. "Free drinks for life!"
Jimin quirks her brow at him, "Uh no. You'll still have to pay."
"What? I'm your best friend!"
"So? You gonna leave a tip?"
"What's the point of it being free if I gotta tip you?"
"It's the right thing to do!"
Jaemin waves her off, "What about Minjeong?"
Minjeong nods along with him, "Yeah, what about me?"
Jimin admires the girl for a moment and shrugs, "Maybe. Depends on the mood I'm in."
"That's discrimination," Jaemin grumbles. "Or favoritism. One of the two."
"I'd leave a tip though," Minjeong assures him. "If Jimin's behind the counter, I'd give her all my money."
Jaemin waves her off, "Suck up."
Jimin and Minjeong laugh at that just as the music outside suddenly gets louder.
"Oh, I love this song!" Minjeong beams and tugs a little on Jimin's hand, "Can we dance?"
Jimin finds herself smiling just as big upon seeing Minjeong's excitement, her energy really is infectious. Plus, when Minjeong's looking at her like that – how could she possibly say no?
"Sure. Let's go," Jimin nods before looking to Jaemin. "You coming?"
"You guys go," Jaemin tells them. "I'm going to see who else is here that I know."
"Alright!" She calls back as Minjeong's already leading the way towards the music.
