2. Opposite Paths

"Our time together was the most beautiful of all. It won't ever, come back."

----

Jungkook sat on the floor clenching his hair, disappointed as he couldn't find his music notes. Tears trickled down his face as if his world was splitting apart and he curled up into a ball sitting in the very corner of the room.

Well, his world was a family.

And now, when he couldn't perform without the notes, it truly meant he won't be able to get his world.

Violet observed his state and she was aware he was having a mental breakdown by now. She crouched down on his level and uttered soothing words.

"Jungkook, don't get sad, you remember the song right? Just sing it, I know they'll like you." Violet patted his shoulders and he soon broke down crying like a baby. She hugged him and he sobbed, burying his head in the crooked of her shoulders. She ruffled through the locks of his black shiny black hair to help him calm down. After a couple of minutes, his cries finally came to an end.

"Let's go now, calm down. You're gonna rock the stage I know." She assured him whilst wiping his tears, by now even his nose and ears turned red due to all the tears that rushed down his milky skin. She slowly got up from her position and gave her hand to him, motioning the male to get up and move on.

"Can we look in the classroom?" He asked whilst taking her hand, getting on his feet and the girl nodded. He suddenly remembered they forget to check the classroom.

Soon, they entered the classroom and their eyes went wide when they saw the notes- crumbled into tiny bits and pieces, near Jungkook's desk. His eyes widened in surprise and he sprinted near his desk and took those little pieces in his quivering hands, followed by Violet.

The emotional side of the boy soon took a twisted turn and rage could be seen in his expressions.

"H-how did t-this-" She stuttered, a horrified look evident on her face, only to get stopped midway while completing her sentence, when Jungkook shot a sharp glare at her. He got up from his position and harshly placed his hand on her right arm, pinning her to the wall, his nails digging into her skin, which he cared less. His demeanour changed and he was fuming in rage.

"Care to explain?" He rasped in his deadly cold voice, the close proximity between the two making Violet nervous as ever.

"I... don't know." Tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She remembered very clearly, she kept the notes in her drawer and the keys were with her till the afternoon and then she passed them onto Jungkook as she wanted to rush for her practice.

Moreover, she didn't expect him to lose his trust on her like this. Was she that untrustable in his eyes?

She was about to explain further but he left her and sprinted away towards the auditorium as he knew there's no point in listening to explanations now, either way, he must perform.

Simultaneously, Violet followed him, only to see all others staring, no glaring no be exact, at Jungkook. Some were whispering something too, making their brows crouched in perplexion and they glanced at each other wondering why everyone's staring at them.

Amongst the whispering of the students they heard one thing that was audibly enough for the ground to collapse below their feet.

Mrs. Kim's bracelet was found in Jungkook's locker.

Before Jungkook and Violet could decipher the situation a harsh slap landed on his cheek, by the senior teacher. The elder's nose was flaring in anger. Jungkook's face turned to the other side and Violet clapped her hands on her mouth, shocked by what just happened. She was unable to utter a word for a moment until the teacher's loud voice ranged in her ears and brought her back to earth.

"Why did you steal Mrs. Kim's bracelet? Above all, why did you break it?!" The teacher imposed on every word questioning Jungkook and he was standing still like a statue too stunned by what was happening with him.

"S-sir, he was with me. A-all this time we were searching for his piano notes that had been stolen and somebody tore them up-" Violet tried to explain the situation and take her best friend's side but Mr. Kim's harsh voice made her swallow her own words.

"We came up with the idea of adopting Jungkook, we were impressed by his talents and his profile but now... We can't adopt a thief." With the last words uttered from his mouth, the Kim family was about to make their way out until Jungkook stopped them.

"Mr. Kim, I didn't steal anything, please believe me-" Tears trickled down from his beautiful brownish eyes.

"Do you have any proof? No, right? Then leave our way." Mrs. Kim glared at the boy and they rushed outside, leaving the orphanage at that instant. The teachers tried to stop them and take control over the situation, but nothing could be of any help. As there were no cameras installed at that time, there was no evidence available to prove his innocence.

How easily he was blamed for something he didn't do.

Jungkook broke down and sat on his knees on the cold ground, everyone mocking the top student of the orphanage, those eyes staring at him, making fun of him and those words stabbing his heart and soul.

Nobody, not even a single soul, tried to do an investigation, as Jungkook was proven guilty by the prestigious Kim family and so, no one could say anything against it.

The family that was going to make him a part of themselves, abandoned him like the outsider he was.

A few moments later a group of students of 'class B' complained to the teachers that they saw Violet near the lockers and in the classroom. Now, all the eyes were on Violet, including Jungkook's.

"Sir, I also saw her carrying the papers in the classroom, I think they were Jungkook's piano notes." One of the girls spoke out and now everyone was glaring at Violet. The look of disappointment and surprise evident on their faces.

"No! I didn't carry the notes and I don't know about the bracelet!" She yelled her heart out trying her best to take her stance but the teacher questioned her back.

"Park Violet, what's all this?" The teacher asked the girl who was already sweating due to nervousness.

"S-sir I did go to the classroom and the lockers, but to t-take my bag and belongings. I-I don't k-know a-anything." She explained, almost on the verge of crying but looks like nobody was in a mood to listen to any of her explanations. The most heartbreaking part of all this, was that even her best friend Jungkook, was looking at her with a fierce gaze, certainly no one believed what she said.

"We're sorry Mr. Lee we can't adopt this unscrupulous girl. If she can do all this to stop someone from getting adopted, we're pretty sure she'll end up stabbing our backs. We can't make her a part of her family." The family that initially proposed to adopt Violet said to the senior teacher. They also turned their backs on her.

"Sir please-" The teacher didn't let her speak any further and motioned her by his hand to not utter a word.

"Not a word anymore, Park Violet. In the office now! You too, Jungkook." He ordered, sternly.

Certainly, she was framed for stealing the bracelet and the notes, when in reality she didn't know a thing about it.

----

"You both are expelled from the orphanage from today. You brought shame on the institution." The committee of teachers ordered the two fifteen old kids, now standing in front of them in the main office, their heads hanging low, their dreams shattered and their goal vanished into thin air.

Family.

They couldn't have it anymore.

"Sir please, Jungkook didn't do anything." Violet pleaded with the teachers, swallowing her sobs, as she knew they'd already declared her as the culprit but she never wished for Jungkook to go down with her. He was innocent, he didn't deserve this treatment.

"He didn't do anything but the Kim family is a major sponsor of our institution and so we can't keep anyone who has angered them." The teacher scoffed with his explanation, obviously, sounding so unreasonable.

Had they known these two fifteen olds were going to become the nation's brightest stars, maybe, they would have reconsidered their harsh decision.

"Get out this instant!" The teachers ordered and the helpless kids had to follow their orders, without any further say. They were helpless in this situation and their dreams and hopes were crushed because of something they didn't do.

----

Soon, they reached their respective rooms and packed their bags and belongings. All through the way neither of them uttered a word to each other. In an hour they reached the main ground, outside the school, they were given some amount of money but how can mere fifteen year olds have the knowledge and wisdom to handle the money and that too, survive alone in this cruel world?

Violet gazed at her best friend standing just beside her with his belongings. She wanted him to trust her, at least, if not anyone. But looks like, fate played an ugly game with the two innocent souls.

"Jungkook, please listen to me." He was about to go but Violet held him by his wrist. He looked back at the girl, her eyes reddened and swollen due to the tears but he didn't care about anything. All that was going on in his mind was- adoption, thief, piano notes and...

Violet meticulously planned all this.

"What should I listen to?! You know what Park Violet? I never knew you were such a jealous person. You played with my trust! You hated the fact that I'm going to get adopted soon and so you... you planned all this!" He stormed out his pent up anger on the girl which made her cry even more. The only friend she had, didn't trust her anymore.

She lost everything.

"Jungkook, believe me I didn't do any-"

"I hate you Park Violet, I really do and remember...one day, whatever you've done to me, you'll pay back for the same." The boy yelled. Tears were flowing down his cheeks and he harshly wiped them up threatening the girl.

"No!" She screamed shooking her head in denial only to hear posionous words from the male.

"I regret being your friend."

"Please listen to me!" She pleaded, holding his arms but he harshly jerked her hands off.

"Don't ever show me your face again!" He spat his last words and turn his back on her going his different way.

She waited and hoped that at least once, he'll look back and run towards her like he used to do but those moments have become memories, which won't come back. He never looked back and just walked and walked until his figure wasn't visible to her moist, reddened eyes. The cheerful boy she considered as her best friend, left her alone.

This was how the top kids of the orphanage were kicked out and their beautiful bond of friendship broke, just because of a misunderstanding.

With this, the two ex-besties broke apart choosing the opposite paths.

POTATO'S NOTE:
This was a really heartbreaking chapter. For someone who has experienced this thing, it was very tough for me to write this without crying. But, I guess this turned out well! Do let me know your views.
