13. Explanation
"You're too beautiful and amazing to let go."
----
Jungkook got flabbergasted by what he heard just now. He couldn't believe Park Violet, the lovesick girl and the ultimate Kim Taehyung simp would ever be speaking such a statement. He even saw how uncomfortable she appeared with him, just now. Just what did the two of them talk to have this much of an impact on her brain?
'Did they had a fight?' He wondered.
After a minute, the music stopped and the cameras also stopped rolling. Taking advantage of the moment, Jungkook pulled the woman out of the ballroom whilst holding her wrist towards the balcony and surprisingly, she didn't even say anything and let him do what he wanted.
His actions didn't go unnoticed by the managers and Yoora tried to stop them sensing that they might argue but Hyun pulled her back and asked her to let them be. He knew they needed to clear some important things and so, their managers made sure no one else clicked their pictures to stir up some controversy and let the two talk like normal, ordinary people.
----
Jungkook left her wrist and now stood in front of her, his tall figure towering over the woman. His eyes yearned for an explanation and the woman understood what he desired.
"Did you two have a fight?" He questioned, his brows furrowed in perplexion.
"No." She nonchalantly shook her head, denying his affirmation.
"Then?" He asked impatiently.
"We had a talk and I got to know something vital about him." She spoke while looking at the front towards the moon shining still in this chilly night. He stared at her side profile and waited for her to speak further and provide the details.
FLASHBACK
Taehyung took Violet out towards the rooftop for a stroll to help her clear her mind. She was smiling the widest just at the thought of being alone with the guy she has feelings for and was certain that she'll express her feelings for him by today.
"I want to apologise." He uttered, pulling the woman out her fantasies.
"For what?" She asked, confused by his words. He glanced everywhere but her for a moment and then matched eyes with her, as if he finally got the courage to speak up.
"Sierra is a spoiled brat from the very beginning. Our parents have always fulfilled all her whims and fancies and turned a blind eye to her mistakes." He explained, moistening the dryness of his cherry lips, making the woman confused.
"Pardon?" She enquired not getting where this conversation is heading to.
"She gets jealous of people at times and does rash childish things to pull them down. She thinks there can't be anyone better than her and so, seeing you performing well, her jealousy skyrocketed and you became her target. I'm aware of what she did the other day on set, the coffee thing, I know it all." Her eyes widened listening to the model's words and how calm he sounded speaking such things. She went numb and not a single word came out from her mouth, it felt as if her lips were sealed. Sensing the awkwardness in the environment, he continued to clear out everything.
"The coffee truck I sent the other day was an apology to you, it wasn't for her. Also, the zip of your dress... It wasn't a wardrobe malfunction, she intentionally damaged it. " Violet stared intently at him for a good two minutes, trying to grasp a few words out of her head as everything appeared too sudden and hazy for her to decipher.
"Why... are you telling me all this?" She asked, uncertain of his intentions and his head lowered ashamed of his sister's deeds.
"Because I'm ashamed as her brother. I'm sorry Violet, I know Sierra is being an insolent brat and I want to apologise to you on her behalf. I've scolded her just now and I'll make sure something like this doesn't happen again." He looked downwards ashamed to even match his eyes with the woman. She just let out a wry smile and patted his shoulder, making him peek at her, a tint of nervousness evident in his expressions.
"It's alright. It would've been better if she apologised to me herself, but I won't mind it. After all, this will be the last time I'm working with her, I won't accept any projects that include her from now on." She said sternly and he nodded giving an apologetic look. He felt a huge burden on his chest because an actress as talented as Violet backed off from any future works just because of his sister's bitchy tactics. His fists clenched in vexation.
"I'll make her apologise to you and Jungkook. Day by day her childishness is increasing and I don't want her to land up in some great trouble one day. Thank you for understanding, Violet." The woman nodded and a thought crossed her mind.
"He loves his sister so much to the point he's ready to support her by any means."
"Looks like this is how her family is there for her in any circumstances... unlike me." She pondered and sighed gloomily, thinking that if her family was there with her, maybe she would've had a place to cry her heart out.
Her house would've felt like a home, not lonely like it always is.
"I know you must be mad at me for taking her side." He spoke, pulling her out of her trance and she glanced at him.
"No, I ain't, you're her brother after all. Surely, you'll be with her." She shook her head in denial, portraying a tight lipped smile.
"I won't from now on. She's becoming a pain in the ass and if something like this happens again, I assure you she'll pay back by all means." He rasped, vexed.
"Can I say something to you?" She asked in an attempt to change the topic.
"Yes?"
"I know this will be too sudden for you... but I want to say it out today. I've always admired you as the perfect guy since the time I saw you for the first time in the modelling event, you were a rookie at that time but I saw how passionate you were for your work and that thing made an everlasting impact on my mind. I- I've thought of this a lot but I could never gather the courage to speak it out to you, as we never really communicated. I just want to confess that I lov-" She spoke everything in one go, stuttering. Certainly, she was nervous and her words sounded as if she's a robot. The male cut her off from speaking whilst letting out a low chuckle.
"No, you don't." Before she could complete her sentence, he shut her up by placing his forefinger on her lips. He sounded surprisingly calm right now, she glanced at his finger and then at him. He swiftly placed his hands in his pockets and continued.
"Park Violet, do you know me personally? Have you seen what I actually am behind the cameras? No, you haven't."
"I-" He shushed her and didn't let her speak anymore.
"But I've seen you, I know what you are like and I'm also aware of one thing– a woman as gracious and intellectual as you deserves someone far, very far better than me. Who knows you've even met the person you deserve?" He whispered the last sentence remembering the time Jungkook didn't care about anyone and left his position just to help her.
Taehyung knew her worth and that's definitely not him.
"Save those words for someone who will be able to support and protect you for life, I ain't that person." He uttered the last words, making the woman stunned. She leaned on the railing of the rooftop for support and let out a deep sigh, her lips quivered.
"W-why?" She stuttered, her eyes glistened and she was almost on the verge of crying. Taehyung gazed at her or a moment and his eyes softened but he was aware that she needs to know something vital about him.
"Have you... seen my parents?" He asked in a low tone making her crouch her brows in confusion but nevertheless, she shook her head in denial. Momentarily, he pointed towards an elderly couple and her eyes made their way towards where he was pointing. She could see them from afar from the glass window of the rooftop, situated just beside the ballroom.
'Stunned' would be an understatement for Violet as what she saw gave a cold shiver down her spine, her legs felt jelly and she bent on her knees unable to stand still. Warm tears made their way out of her dark brown orbs, she couldn't control her sobs anymore.
Mr. and Mrs. Kim are his parents.
The same people who were about to adopt Jungkook but left angrily because they thought he stole Mrs. Kim bracelet and later on the blame went on to Violet. Everything made sense now, why Taehyung appeared quite familiar to her even though she has never talked to him because twelve years ago he was present in that annual function event and certainly, he too is aware of what happened.
How can she love the guy... whose family was the reason that the two of them are suffering till date?
Suddenly, Jungkook's crying face from that day struck her memory. The way he wailed and cried, how much he literally begged everyone to believe in him at least once and how much hate she saw in his eyes that day. She lost her best friend whom she considered like her family that day, just because of a misunderstanding. If the Kim family did a thorough investigation, maybe...
Maybe Jungkook and Violet would have been living a very different life now.
All these thoughts clouded her mind and she couldn't help but cry her heart out like a baby.
Sensing the thickness in the environment and Violet's state, Taehyung's eyes softened and he too bent on his knees to her level and pulled her into his embrace whilst softly caressing her hair. He could hear her soft sniffles and her whole body was shivering due to the sudden astonishment.
"I'm sorry I-" This time she cut his words off whilst wiping off her tears and getting up from her position.
"No, I understand. I'm so sorry. I guess, it was really immature of me to confess without even knowing you properly. I think we can't even name it as 'love' can we?" she blurted out in her high pitched voice almost cracking because she was crying.
"You deserve someone better than me." He uttered and patted her head, trying to console her.
"I don't know if that someone even exists or not." She shook her head in denial, her hopes crashing down.
"Who knows maybe, you've met him?" He spoke out in a low whisper but she didn't pay much attention to his words and continued.
"So, are we friends now?"
"I would love to be friends with you!" He chirped excitedly.
"We... I mean you.. Aren't annoyed with me? I sounded like a childish teen just now didn't I?" She spoke out embarrassedly and the male shook his head in disagreement.
"No, I'm not. Instead, I'm impressed you said it so confidently." She gazed at him for some moments and sighed asking her next question.
"You're aware of what happened twelve years ago, do you also believe in it?" She peeked towards her toes, unable to match eyes with him in shame. He could make out she was chagrined and can't move on from the past.
"I didn't see you doing that and so I don't believe in anything without any proof." He muttered, sounding genuine and flashed a small smile at him.
"I wish everyone had a mentality like you, especially him." She whispered, audible enough for him to hear and he shook his head whilst portraying his boxy smile.
"Don't worry, he'll understand too one day." She got a little surprised that Taehyung understood whom she's talking about and was about to speak something but he pulled her towards the dance floor just to make things not awkward with the two of them anymore. Surely, he is a good friend, if not her lover.
"I hope Haewon and Jina have a happy ending in real life too." He thought to himself and smiled.
----
"That bitch Sierra!" Jungkook roared inflamed and the woman goggled at him weirdly for a moment. She told him such an important thing and what he understood in all that was about Sierra? He didn't even say anything about the Kim family.
"You don't appear too surprised." Violet mocked, scoffing and thought that she just wasted her energy in telling him all this. He still didn't budge and soon, Violet realised what actually happened.
"Don't tell me you already knew?!" Her eyes widened in ambush and she instantly held the male by his shoulders, now shaking him to and fro.
"Will you stop shaking me like a soju bottle?" He asked and she left his arms and stared at him. Her eyes urging for an explanation.
"I know about his parents, since the time he came into this industry. What I wasn't aware of was Sierra's doings. Isn't she too old to stoop this low?!" He spoke in rage and Violet let out a small smile, speaking further.
"Can't do anything about someone's jealousy can we?" He nodded, agreeing to her statement and sighed deeply.
"But why don't you love Taehyung anymore? He's a nice person." He questioned, perplexed about her decisions.
"How can I love a guy whose parents were the reason we're like this? Moreover, he's right. I don't know him at all and so, this isn't love." She muttered and he couldn't speak anything for quite some time. She was getting a flashback of the time when she fought with Yoora and she said the same thing as Taehyung.
