He had hated him from day 1.
The very first day Near had moved into Wammy's House, Mello had despised him. Near was so smart, always number 1. Always the better one of the two. And now...
...Roger was moving them together into the same room. THE SAME ROOM, with that insufferable creature, playing with his stupid toys, wearing his stupid pajamas, and curling his stupid, soft white hair and just being so insufferably intelligent!
And, a little cute....
But anyway, there he was.
Mello sat on the top bunk, crunching on his chocolate while Near built a tarot card city on the floor, repeatedly saying things like "Oh, how unfortunate." Or "Please be careful." Or. "Whoooosh." or any other number of annoying things he could be saying.
"Hello, Mello." Near finally said, looking up.
"HEY." Mello spat at the younger boy, blushing slightly.
"Hmm." Near said. "You're blushing."
"N-no, I'm-! Just because you're SO. ANNOYING!" Mello yelled.
Near grinned. "From the fact that you attempted to deny that you were blushing, I can therefore deduce that you are not blushing because I am annoying. Therefore, I can infer that you are attracted to me, 69% chance for romantically, 11% for sexually, and 19% chance of in a friendly manner."
Mello spluttered. "H-how-- w-what-! W-what's the other 1%?"
Near grinned even more. "The other 1% is if I am incorrect."
"W-well, you ARE." Mello blushed even redder, now hanging off the ladder of the top bunk.
"Nevermind." Said Near. "82% chance for romantically, 15% for sexually, and 2% for in a friendly manner. And obviously, 1% that I'm incorrect. Although that percentage has logically lowered to about 0.034%."
"Shut up, you little freak!" Mello screamed, grabbing Near by the front of his stupid little white pajamas and slamming him against the wall. He had sprung from his bunk bed and knocked over Near's tarot card city in one efficient blow.
Near grimaced. "Ouch." But looked down saying nothing more.
"Why do you say stupid untrue stuff like that?!" Mello shouted.
Near suddenly was showing a lot of emotion; almost crying...
"Because, Mello... I want it to be true...."
Mello turned a deep red, pausing before putting Near back on the ground and pushing him against the wall.
And kissing him.
