Chapter 9
❝ THOSE WHO ARE SUPERIOR TO YOU ❞
9
You threw the paper on the wall, finding it useless.
"Gosh! Where did I put that?" You groaned as you looked back and saw that your room was a mess, clothes scattered everywhere with papers, pillows, and more.
You threw a pillow recklessly, not knowing where it would land, then the door suddenly opened and the pillow flying straight to him.
"The fuck-- Y/n?" Ran said, dodging as he caught the pillow.
"Oh," panic rose in your eyes.
"Damn, didn't know you can do a headshot with a pillow." He bantered. You felt a slight relief by his tone but then continued your business.
You just faced your back on him, walking away.
"Is it this one?" Ran said while leaning on the door frame, lazily raising the photo in his hand.
"Thanks," You muttered as you walked back to him.
You reached for the photo but you only grasped air as he immediately took it back, putting it in his pocket.
"What?"
"Come to my room first, I'll show you something and give it to you." Ran said.
"I don't have time— You know what? Whatever, let's go so that this will end quickly." You sighed as you walked past him, going out of your room.
"What's the rush? We have all day, the others aren't home." Ran said, walking out of the room.
"Where are they?"
"Curious much?"
"I'm just literally asking..."
"Where's your room?" You asked in a bored tone as you both were walking in the hallway.
"Oh? So you really want to go?" Ran smirked, jokingly asking you as he lazily turned his head to you.
"I didn't say anything."
Ran opened the door as you both went inside then he closed the door behind him.
You took a step further into his room, observing everything. It appeared to be a typical man's room, with a grey, black, and white color scheme. Shrugging, you turned to him and crossed your arms.
"So? Where's my photo?"
"You accidentally slipped the photo out on the car seat yesterday, luckily we found it." Ran said, reaching for the photo in his pockets. "We were about to call you but you already went upstairs."
"K," you rolled your eyes as you went to reach for the photo, but he only held it up high, making you reach it.
"Wha—?!" You gasped as you furrowed your brows and jumped, reaching the photo, but he only extends his arm more, raising it as he looks down at you.
Feeling aggravated, you grabbed one of the pillows on his bed and hit his face, but his reflex was quick enough and he immediately grabbed your wrist, pushing you on the bed.
Your back hit the bed, and he placed his knee between your thighs, realizing the position, you try to escape by prying your wrist from his grip but he was too strong.
"H-hey, that's enough now. I'm just playing." You stuttered, feeling your face heat, is it because of the position right now? The way his face was too close to you? The way his gaze was on you? You honestly didn't know.
"It's unbelievable. A woman like you entering a man's room, all alone." He whispered, feeling breath on your neck
"If you let your guard down, anything might happen to you." He added.
You felt lost in reality all of a sudden until Ran flicked your forehead. You heard him laughing as he watched your expression. He stood up from the bed as if nothing happened.
"Be careful next time, you don't know what might happen to you," Ran advised.
"Just g-give what I want." You stammered, feeling lost in your words, but he only looked down at you.
"I helped you find the photo, anything something in return?" He replied.
You paused, finding something to answer, in a panic—
"I'll work with all of you!" You shouted, panic all over your words. It's the only thing you remember about them right now, in your foggy thoughts. It just rushed out of your mouth.
Ran paused for a while, he then chuckled at you, finally letting you go and leaning back. You also gathered the courage to stand up from the bed and fix your clothing.
"Promise?" He said as he waved the photo in front of you in a teasing manner, urging you to agree.
"W-Well..."
"I'm sorry I did that," He laughed. "Did I scare you?"
You only rolled your eyes. You faced your back at him again, not wanting to look at him.
"I guess that's a yes." Ran patted your head as he handed you the photo while you quickly snatched it and stomped outside of his room.
"Wait, your work is starting now."
"Now?!" You looked back. "Isn't it a bit rushed...? I mean you know I'm just starting."
"I can be your mentor and supervisor. I'll guide you. You have nothing to worry about." Ran told as he opened one of the boxes and gave it to you.
"What's this?" You asked with a raised brow as you reached for the pieces of clothing.
"That'll be your uniform." He said as he pointed to his bathroom. "Go change, now."
After some minutes, you went out of the bathroom, Ran turned his head to you, raising his brows as he observed your uniform, and how it perfectly fitted you.
It was almost like a suit, an office uniform that was almost identical to theirs, with a pencil skirt that reached above your knees and a button-up white shirt, and a blazer.
"Another box. If you want slacked pants. Stripes, pure black, pure white... I dunno." Ran added, giving you another set of clothing.
You face the mirror that's mounted on the wall and observed your clothes. You shrugged. "Looks decent." You thought.
"Damn, I guess he isn't bad at making clothes." Ran said as he stood up from his chair.
"Who?"
"Secret," he muttered while whistling a tune as he went out of the room.
You both walked into the elevator. You haven't observed the whole interior of this mansion, but you can say It's almost like a building.
"So, what will I be specifically doing? Like what job will I do for this offer?" You said, breaking the silence in the elevator.
"Do you really think that the offer is the reason you're here?" Ran said, his resonating into a deep voice behind you.
"I don't see a future here, anyway. What else would I be doing here then?" You sighed as you checked your nails in a bored way. "What? Starve me to death? Stare at all of your faces to death?"
"Oh, you'll be doing lots of things with me," he replied. "And when I say a lot, it can mean anything."
"However, I adore the way you respond to me." He said, you heard a step forward from behind, and you froze in your spot, not wanting to move. "Acting all feisty, hm?"
"But, that's not the tone you should be using when speaking with those in higher positions than you, those who are superior to you, and I'm one of those authorities, so watch it." Ran added.
"Especially now that your job is starting. We'll be your boss, and you'll be our dear employee." He said once more, his tone getting more strenuous and darker with every sentence.
"Your job here is like what you did before on your previous work. Serving us, and if you want, you can help the other members with paperwork. It's up to you." Ran said with a smile, abruptly changing the topic and tone. You find it daunting and frightening how quickly he can change.
"Just make sure you don't get out of our sight," he said. "Can be figurative, can be literal."
"So, what do you say?" He whispered lowly behind you, feeling his large presence. He raised a brow when he doesn't hear a response from you, making him chuckle. "I don't remember you being this quiet a while ago. Weren't you just throwing me those harsh words a while ago, Lady?"
"Sorry," you whispered, if he wasn't so close to you, he must've not heard it.
"Sorry what?"
"Sorry, Sir," You gritted your teeth, feeling your face heat.
"And?"
"'Won't do it again."
"Good girl." He praised, smirking down at you which you didn't see from behind.
Ding
You heard the elevator ding, and you let out a shaky breath, finally.
"There's your workplace. You can roam around there. You'll meet some guards and employees there. They'll guide you. Understood, Y/n?" Ran asked.
"Yes, Sir." You muttered, you promptly bowed to him before going out of the elevator, walking out quickly.
"I'll go back now. Better impress us on your first day. See you later." Ran said as he pressed the button on the elevator. The door is slowly closing, but before it completely shuts, you turned around and glanced back at him, seeing the mischievous smirk forming on his lips at the gap in between the elevator doors.
Ding
And then the doors completely shut, the elevator music inside made Ran bored, so he thought for a moment, remembering what Mikey told him.
"Ran, I'll leave Y/n to you for now."
He deeply chuckled, putting both of his hands in his pockets as he fixed his posture and stood up straight.
"Gladly."
