Third Person POV

"Boss?"

Kakucho gently taps Mikey's shoulder as he tries to wake him up from his nap. Once more, Mikey dozed off on the chair next to your hospital bed with his head resting next to you.

It is now late afternoon. Nearly everyone has begun packing up their belongings, with the exception of the men who will be assigned to the hospital room today. This is because it's just the same busy routine for the Bonten men, who will alternate watching over and taking care of (Y/N) in her hospital room as it was in the previous weeks.

"Boss Sano, Haitani Ran is scheduled for staying in the room today," Kakucho informed.

(Y/N) vital signs are getting stable, although the tubes and dextrose that were inserted into various places of her body felt interminable. The same beeping sound they hear beside her bed still going off.

They hope... they all hope that it's the same tempo of the sound they'll hear for the next few days.

"Just tell him to go home. Starting today, no one will stay overnight in the hospital-" Mikey replied, but was cut off.

"Are you not letting us see (Y/N), boss?" Ran suddenly spoke. He had enough of Mikey always being like this. "After all that happened, only now?"

"Point not taken," Mikey briefly replied.

"It's what you're implying, boss."

"It's okay, just stay at some days," Kakucho calmed Ran down before the flame gets bigger between Mikey and him.

They don't want another argument to happen between the men.

Ran dropped a long heavy sigh once again, and then he left the room along with Kakucho.

"I'm heading straight home. You can just come with me so you won't have to drive, if you want," Kakucho muttered while walking with Ran in the empty hospital hallway.

Ran nodded. "Where's Rindou?"

"He already went home with Sanzu."

Ran only hummed and nodded, his head lowered with his hand inside his pockets. There was a great silence between the two men while walking.

"Haitani, what's wrong? Is the argument between you and Rindou not yet settled?" Kakucho suddenly asked.

Ran shook his head. "Nah."

"I know I'm not in the place to talk, let alone ask, but what exactly happened?"

"Rindou has a lack of comprehension in convoluted situations, which we're in right now, all of us. It was hard explaining to him certain things and his emotions get ahead of him. That's all." Ran said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"What else?"

"Nothing? That's all," Ran told before entering the elevator.

Kakucho just nodded and hummed while listening to Ran. Kakucho doesn't mind being the older brother to Ran sometimes, after all, Ran was being the older brother to him all this time, why not change things for a bit? This time, Kakucho is caring for Ran in the role of his older brother.

"Man, it's like a hole in the chest that only (Y/N) and Rindou can mend, but both are fucking distanced away. Emotionally, mentally, and physically."

"Tell Rindou that you'll find another brother if he doesn't fix things with you," Kakucho bantered.

"Fair enough. Sure," Ran shrugged. "Kakucho, I have a question."

"What?"

"Do you think it's okay that Hanma is out there, walking around freely while the person he almost fucking killed is laying on that damned hospital bed, on the verge of dying?" Ran asked, his voice like a hiss while saying those damned words, especially the emphasis on Hanma's name.

"No? Fucking no. I want that fucking Hanma dead. Hell, even shred his organs," Kakucho bluntly told.

"Then why don't I see any of the men taking action?" Ran added, his voice raising a bit.

"Ask Sano."

"I can't stand his presence any fucking longer," Ran replied, sighing in frustration.

"Neither you, I nor anyone can't. It's just... why? Mikey is complicated, but he became more complicated," Kakucho told.

"I can no longer understand Mikey," Kakucho added in a hesitant voice.

There was a brief silence between the two men. To be honest, they're like talking behind Mikey, but everyone knows damn well that these words are the truth. It's constantly draining, even if it's just entering that damn hospital room. The atmosphere inside is enough to make you exhausted.

"By the way, Kakucho. If ever I got back, can you tell Boss Sano if I can visit (Y/N) in the hospital again?" Ran asked.

"You're free to visit anytime- anyone is, so what do you mean?" Kakucho's brows furrowed and then paused for a second. "Is it because of what Boss Sano said earlier? Don't think about it much, Ran. I'm sure you can still vis-"

"That's not what I mean," Ran cuts off.

"Then what-? Wait... Don't you dare fucking tell me that you'll go on a mission to attack Hanma by yourself...?" Kakucho asked, eyes widening.

Ran scoffed. "No."

"Kaku, look. Just promise me one thing you'll tell Manjiro if I can have some free time with (Y/N). I want to pay her a visit at least once. I don't want to wait in that cold hallway, no. I don't want to just look at the glass pane window. I don't to see Mikey's selfishness. I want to see (Y/N)," Ran stated, desperation laced in his voice.

"Just, please? That's all I want to do. Promise me that, Kakucho," Ran begged.

"Yeah, fine."

"Really?" Ran smiled, a genuine smile.

"Yeah yeah," Kakucho nodded. "Just don't go anywhere unless boss signals us. Don't you dare go on a mission by yourself."

Ran hesitated.

"Yeah," he answered.

Honestly, the words that were Ran saying is more to assure Kakucho. Even if he promised-confirmed- assured- told Kakucho that he won't attack Hanma by himself, the vision that keeps on repeating in his mind tells him otherwise.

Ran's gut was churning with hatred and sheer rage as he kept picturing Hanma roaming around freely, not in jail, with no punishment, no repercussions, and that one wicked grin pasted on his face.

While the life of the person he swore to protect before is in the line.

Ran is walking in the hallway, on his way to the office as soon as he was home in Bonten's mansion.

Just as he was about to proceed inside, he saw a glimpse of Rindou going out of the room.

"Rindou," Ran called once again as he walks to him, even if he knows that Rindou will just turn his back to him again.

Yeah, he was right. Rindou just glanced at him for a brief second, then walks back inside the room.

"This is the last time I'm telling you this. Talk to me, Rindou!" Ran shouted as he knocks on Rindou's door.

"Talk to you? When the last words I heard from you from our last argument was me being a delusional self-centered shithead. I guess I shouldn't talk any further, then," Rindou retorted and scoffed behind the door.

"For fuck's sake I'm trying my hardest here to mend everything right here right now," Ran replied.

"Then don't try to fix something that's already been butchered," Rindou told.

"Rindou, let's fix this before it's too fucking late," Ran said, knocking on Rindou's door even harder. "Don't wait for me to kick this door off."

"If I tell you that Hanma is not fucking dead, would you care? I saw him stand up in my own two eyes, and (Y/N) is suffering on that fucking hospital bed while the man who caused this wreckage is roaming around outside freely?!" Ran shouted.

"Why are you so fucking hellbent on everything?!" Rindou shouted with a crack in his voice, obviously hiding his sobs. "When other people said those horrible, awful things to me, I didn't give a shit, but when you're the one who's saying those words? It hurt so bad that! It hurt a million times more when those vile words came from you than any other person who has ever said those."

Ran contemplated for a moment. "If that's what you want, then be it," he said, giving his brother some spare time.

"Literally, fuck off!" Rindou shouted, dropping his last defense and leaving Ran behind the door.

Ran sighed heavily, and as much as he wanted to knock this door off, he couldn't, because he knew that it'd make things worse, exacerbating something already ravaged.

He just proceeded inside his office, and slumped his weight on the couch, rubbing his forehead in frustration and stress.

Not for so long, and his phone starts to ring.

Why was he feeling anxious?

Beads of sweat rolled down from his forehead as he grabbed his phone and answered the call.

"Sir Haitani, the location you've told us to track is already found. We'll just send it to Sir Sano Manji-"

"No. Send it to me directly. Don't inform anyone, not even one of the executives or higher-ups, understand?" Ran cuts off.

The employee hesitated for a moment, a little taken aback by his boss' response. "Understood, Sir Haitani."

"Good. I expect it in less than a minute," Ran sternly told and then ended the call.

It's currently 21:48. The cycle has been recurring since last month, and the weather appears to be pretty terrible. Rain... rain... rain... and rain. No breaks. It's pretty bad. You can barely catch a glimpse of those cloudy skies, fresh air, and most of all, the sunrise and sunsets.

It's tiring to witness the same gloomy vista every day.

On this night, Ran is inside his car, driving to a certain location.

The windshield wiper continuously wiping in front of his view was enough for him to get bored, and the sound of every heavy raindrop resonating inside was enough for him to get anxious. Nonetheless, he didn't stop by. He continued driving to that one location.

He needs to get there as soon as possible.

He speeds up his car more as soon as he got out of the traffic jam, as soon as the lights turned green, signaling him to proceed.

Tears of rage brimmed in his ears while he stepped on the gas. His hands gripped the steering wheel, knuckles turning white as the speed of his car was almost reaching the speed limit on the road.

Occasions like this were frequent. He's eventually getting used to it. This was illegal, and he knew it. He was reaching the speed limit when he heard cops behind him, chasing his car.

He drifted his car and the screech from the car wheels that emitted from the ground was loud.

Ran hid inside his car behind the highway bridge's giant pillars and bushes as the cops passed by the highway.

As he was waiting, he lit up a cigarette while hiding from the cops.

After hiding for minutes, he sighed and rolled his eyes. He leaves his hiding spot and continues down the route, heading for the highway.

He checked his phone's location... the destination is near.

The rain only got heavier and heavier.

"Boss Hanma! Please, open the door! There's an emergency!"

Mitsuya, Haru, and Hanma who are inside their private ward were startled by the vigorous knocking on the door by their armed workers.

"O-one of Bonten's executives... attacked our place! He's full rampage! Almost all of our guards at the basement are... dead!"

Hanma's eyes widened, half fear and half bloodlust... hungry for vengeance.

Mitsuya and Haru turned their heads to the abrupt news. Should they feel scared?

Haru... a former Bonten worker who knows his bosses, executives, and workers very well was in a panic state. He knows who attacked in their place among the Bonten members, and he knows it very well.

Haru worked for Bonten before, and he knows how Bonten plays their game.

He witnessed everything. Haru saw how Bonten killed those traitors ruthlessly.

Haru is in that position now.

"HAHAHAHA! What a coincidence, Haru! Look at that! Look who came! One of your so-called ruthless bosses! I wonder who among them?!"

Haru knows that it's Ran. Out of all the Bonten men, Ran is the one who's always hungry and yearning for retribution, especially when one of his close ones was the one harmed.

"Oh, Haru. There he is, there's the man you've been wanting to kill. What a coincidence, the target came here by himself. Isn't that a fortune?" Hanma laughed menacingly, his words hissing in the palpable air.

Haru felt goosebumps forming on his skin, chest heaving up and down as his throat was dry from the nervousness.

"Get me out of this shitty bed," Hanma commanded as he stood up from it, ripping the dextrose' needle from the back of his hand. He winced in pain, but he didn't give a shit about it.

Hanma barged out of the room along with the workers under him, holding firearms as they went outside, carrying guns.

Mitsuya and Haru followed behind. Forced... again.

"Show him, where is he?!" Hanma shouted through the patio, with Mitsuya and Haru behind him. The armed workers of Hanma surrounded the place, attempting to find this one Bonten member who attacked their place.

Haru nudged Mitsuya as he leaned closer to whisper. "Why are we still here...? Why are you still here? I don't want to die. Is Chifuyu's death not enough for you to leave Hanma's group?"

"I can't just leave you here. I can't bear to lose another close worker of mine. Just stay put and this will end soon," Mitsuya whispered.

Haru's heartbeat was beating quickly, his fingers tapping on the rifle he was forced to hold.

Then suddenly, a gunshot was heard from behind them, making the men look behind.

One of Hanma's workers got shot dead, lying on the ground with pools of blood around him.

More followed gunshots were heard next, and more of Hanma's employees are progressively being killed by bullets. The precision, rapidity, and silence of the shots made it easy for them to identify the shooter as a sniper.

Their eyes widened, trying to find where the culprit was, and they knew very well who this man was.

"Haitani Ran! Get the fuck out of there and stop hiding! I know it's you!" Hanma shouted.

No response, except for the gunshots that killed another of Hanma's workers and guards.

Ran is aware-as is everyone-that Hanma is currently physically frail and vulnerable, particularly in light of the neck brace, arm sling, and other medical equipment supporting his fractures and wounds. This is the reason for why Hanma is surrounded by more workers than usual, and Ran knew it damn well. This is why he started targeting them first.

As soon as Ran finished killing an adequate amount of armed guards surrounding Hanma. Ran got out of his hiding spot.

Ran quickly sprinted towards Hanma and wrapped his arm around his neck as he points a gun at Hanma's head, which caused the man to wince in extreme pain.

"Stay back!" Ran groaned as he pressed the barrel harder on Hanma's temples. "If you don't want to see his brains bursting off."

Hanma screamed in pain as a reaction to Ran's pressure being applied to his injured body parts.

"Mitsuya! Haru! Do something!" Hanma shouted loudly.

The two men reflected a faux sympathy, but inside, there's a significant amount of apathy, agony, and fury lurking in them.

Hanma forced a laugh. "Are you two testing me?"

One of Hanma's underlings attacked Ran from behind, but he merely kicked him off, almost sending him flying to the pavement. Ran turned around, with Hanma's neck still locked in Ran's arms, sending his neck to also twist for a bit, emitting a painful ache.

Hanma got out of Ran's grasp as he bites his arm, making Ran groan from the pain and stumble back. Hanma took advantage of the situation to kick Ran off, knocking him to the ground as he snatched a weapon from one of his workers.

"What's wrong, Haitani?" Hanma smirked. "Your little brother isn't here. Is that why you're so weak right now?"

Ran stood up from the floor and kicked Hanma's knees, frantically making him stumble on the ground as Ran grabbed his collar and punched Hanma's jaw several times.

"Don't you dare think that you'll see another speck of light after what you've done." Hanma received another punch from Ran. "Don't you dare think that you'll roam around outside freely again after what you've done." Punch. "Don't you dare think that all those wreckages you've done have been obscured." Punch. "Don't you dare think you can get out of this alive after putting her life in the fucking line." Punch.

Hanma's face was so smeared with blood that it was almost deformed as he coughed up blood. He winced in discomfort as he struggled to remain conscious. He grabbed Ran's nape but he violently grasped Hanma's wrist and twisted it, dropping him on the ground with much force.

One of Hanma's workers grabbed Ran's shoulder as they pulled him away from Hanma, but Ran was far too preoccupied with straightly killing Hanma that he only kicked those underlings of him in a swift moment.

Hanma was far from giving up. He relished the blissful night and savored this one last opportunity that had been given to him to kill the person in front of him.

"If I'm dying tonight, then I'm dying with you. At least before I die, my mission is completed... and that is to kill one of the Bonten higher-ups!" Hanma shouted in pure vengeance and wrath.

He swung a fist at Ran, but he barely dodged it and caught Hanma's wrist, then hitting his stomach with Ran's knees.

"Shoot him. Now," Mitsuya commanded Haru.

Haru didn't hesitate to grab the rifle from the ground and straightly aimed it at Hanma.

"Betraying me now, Haru and Mitsuya?!" Hanma didn't fail to notice the two.

"This is what Chifuyu felt when you turned your back to him, you filthy bastard!" They shouted, fingers almost an inch away from the trigger.

Haru was about to shoot Hanma, but Hanma quickly ran up to him and turned Haru's arms towards Ran.

Making Haru's gun aim at Ran, accidentally.

"Die, you son of a bitch!" Hanma shouted, forcefully shooting the gun from Haru's hand.

Ran's eyes widened, and the next thing he knew was him coughing out blood, the stinging of the bullet that penetrated his chest was a scorching pain.

Mitsuya's heart dropped as Ran collapsed on the floor in front of him.

Haru's eyes widened as he gasped, immediately dropping the gun to the floor. He wasn't supposed to shoot him. It was supposed to be Hanma.

"Hanma!" Mitsuya shouted as he didn't hesitate to pick up the rifle on the floor.

Mitsuya straightly shoots Hanma several times on many parts of his body, causing him to drop to the floor.

Tears freely pour from Mitsuya's eyes while he's rampaging on the rifle, shooting everywhere, especially on Hanma even if he's laying dead on the floor. The holes in Hanma's body from the bullet are visible at this point.

Hanma's underlings pointed their guns at Mitsuya.

"Try to shoot me, and this organization will fall in debt and in court!" Mitsuya shouted at them with full fury and rage.

They backed up. They have no choice. Their boss is already dead.

Haru's lips quivered at the sight, he immediately dropped to his knees beside Ran's body.

"B-Boss Haitani! I-I didn't mean to..." Haru shouted in a trembling cracked voice.

Ran grunted while his hand is clumped on his chest, the one that got shot. He coughed out an amount of blood. He winced in extreme pain, sight blurring.

"Fucking hell, I know this was coming. Don't blame yourself," Ran muttered to Haru.

"I-I'll call the ambulance! Someone, call an ambulance!" Haru shouted.

"Haru, you're the worker in our firm before, right?" Ran asked in a wince, and Haru nodded.

It might not be obvious, but Ran was fond of Haru and Mask as their employees back then. The two's hardworking spirit was always within them.

"J-Just... just fucking tell Rindou and (Y/N) to not to worry. Tell them that you brought me to the hospital and I'm alive, okay?" Ran grunted. "Remember those two names."

Haru looked at Ran, and his breath is teetering. He knew that there was not much time. "The ambulance is coming... P-Please, stay awake..."

"And Kakucho too. Tell him that I'll forever thank him for being a big brother for once to me, even if it's just a short time," Ran whispered.

"Haru, those are my only favor. If ever I don't survive at the hospital, remember those. Promise me."

"All I want is (Y/N) to finally wake up," Ran mumbled in a crack-pained voice.

"H-How about you...?" Ran winced, coughing out blood. "Any last pledge? Anything you want to know?"

For a brief period, Haru was unable to speak. His mouth opened, but nothing came out. He sighed deeply as he attempted to utter the word that had baffled him for almost a year.

"Is Mask's real name really 'Draken'?" Haru asked, holding back his tears, fighting to be tough at least for once.

"Yes..." Ran answered. "R-Ryuguji Ken..."

"W-Was Mask- Draken also... shot by a gun?" Haru asked.

Ran reminisced those memories. Oh, how he still remembers them. The time, the place, the ambiance of where Mask got shot... it's all vivid in his head.

"He was... he was shot by a gun like me," Ran answered.

"Tell me... I need confirmation... Was it Boss Sano who shot Draken...?" Haru asked with a tear spilling on his cheek.

Ran hesitated for a moment. He doesn't want to answer this, but this is the only opportunity for him to tell.

"Yes," he bitterly answered.

Haru slowly nodded, finally accepting the answer that also has been engulfing him all this time.

Finally accepting the death of his closest friend and co-worker, Draken, known as Mask.

Ran looked around weakly, starting to lose consciousness. Ambulances, authorities, and cops have arrived at the scene. The mixture of red and blue lights turned into a blur and haze.

Yet, Ran wished that he at least see (Y/N) for the last time.

"Please... let me see her at least for once."

Haru tried to keep his hand pressured on Ran's shot on the chest. Blood oozed out of the penetrated skin, and he continuously coughed blood.

"Where's Rindou...?" Ran thought before his eyes close.

"B-Boss... keep your eyes open... please! The ambulance is close! Don't give up, please..." Haru cried.

"RAN!"

A familiar voice echoed in Ran's ears, but he knows that he was starting to lose consciousness.

Yet he tries to look at where the voice is coming from because he knows that it's from Rindou.

If he can't see (Y/N) for the last time, maybe at least let him see Rindou instead.

"RAN!" Rindou burst into tears as he saw the scene in front of him, and he didn't hesitate to run to him with a pounding heart.

The other Bonten men are there, except for some. The only ones there are Sanzu, Kakucho, and of course, Rindou. Koko and Mikey were left in the hospital where (Y/N) is staying.

"W-What happened?! Why did you go here all by yourself?! What the fuck, Ran! Ran! Oh God... please, stay awake!" Rindou called his name several times as he brings Ran's head to his chest, shaking him in hopes of getting him to respond.

Kakucho's eyes widened. He and Ran were just talking casually a while ago... Oh, how did this happen in just like a blink of an eye and a simple goodbye.

"I'll bring you to the hospital- Fuck! Someone, call an ambulance!" Rindou shouted through his tears.

Rindou's screams are horrid... full of despair. You can hear the cracks in his voice, the sobs that ring in their ears.

"Ran! Wake up... I can't do this shit at all by myself! Please... wake up!" Rindou screamed once more, sobbing while holding his dying brother in his arms. "Ran!"

How Rindou wishes Ran could respond even if it's just a mumble.

Rindou is slowly losing hope, what more if he completely loses his other half?

"Sir! We'll take the patient to the hospital. The shot is fatal, we need to hurry!" one of the nurses, medical teams, and other employees rushed with a stretcher and more medical equipment.

Ran was immediately carried by the nurse, putting him on the stretcher as they put oxygen on his nose, and rushed him inside the ambulance.

"I'm the patient's family member. Please, take me inside the ambulance with him!" Rindou said, pleading.

"We'll just follow the ambulance to the hospital," Kakucho and Sanzu informed before proceeding inside their car.

The beeping monitor next to Ran's stretcher suddenly accelerates. All the equipment inside the ambulance has begun to make noise. The nurses started to take action as they signaled for the ambulance driver to start driving.

One nurse held Ran's wrist, his pulse to be specific, and her eyes widening from the result. She clicked her tongue, grabbing one piece of equipment that indicates the only and only thing.

"Perform CPR on the patient!"

"W-What's happening? Is the shot fatal?!" Rindou asked, panicking as he witnessed the dreadful sight in front of him.

"Sir, please tone down your voice and sit at the side. It will affect the procedure," one of the nurses said.

That's risky. We're in a moving ambulance," one of the nurses grabbed the defibrillator.

"Someone put pressure on the shot!"

"Perform CPR instead," the nurse said and puts both of his hands on Ran's chest as he started the compression on his chest.

Rindou's eyes are glossy as he watches his brother fighting and holding on for dear life. More than ever, his heart was racing. He was greeted by a gloomy breeze of air that felt more like an agonizing gale.

"Oh, God... I'm fucking sorry," Rindou sobbed.

"Sir, what's your relation with the patient?" one of the assistants asked while the other nurses are preoccupied with Ran.

"I'm his brother... please, save him," Rindou begged the nurse's assistant. "Is he in a lethal condition? How was it?"

"We can't really confirm anything as of this moment, but sir, please stay calm- this might affect the patient's condition."

"I know... I know... just please, keep him alive. I know you've heard this line from millions of patients, but please know that it means a lot. I want my brother out of the hospital, alive..." Rindou said, sobbing. His words were painfully laced with desperation and agony.

"After thirty compressions, there's still no response from the patient. A CPR isn't enough, we need defibrillation as soon as possible. Bring him to the OR as soon as we get there," one of the nurses informed.

This made Rindou lose hope, but he knows that he shouldn't make a scene here.

"Keep my brother alive at any cost... please!" Rindou shouted, hell even beg and make a scene, which he rarely does, even kneel in front of the nurses, he did it, all for the sake of his brother.

"Because the last conversation we had was a fucking argument... Please, keep him alive," Rindou told in a brittle voice.

"I-I... I told him to fuck off... that's literally the words I dropped to him in our last talk. Please, for once, keep him alive! I'll pay double, even triple! Just do anything...! A-Ask for a donor? I'll gladly help... just keep him alive! I can't bear to lose him, please! Please! I need my brother alive!" Ran shouted, voice cracking in sobs as he begged the nurses.

The nurses listened to his pleadings and understood that they needed to acknowledge such occurrences. It is indeed painful to hear a family member of a dying patient begging for the patient's life.

"We will, sir. We'll do everything to keep the patient alive, everything."

Rindou looked at Ran who was still unresponsive even if there are several tubes, machines, and medications inserted in his body.

This is what he fears the most.

"Survive, please... Stay awake..."

"Are there any updates with her?"

Mikey asked the nurses and doctors who went inside the hospital room to check (Y/N)'s vital signs and daily medications.

The doctor who is using a stethoscope to listen to your heartbeat briefly hummed. "I won't claim that her coma will last long, she's still unresponsive, but I doubt that it's impossible that she can hear us right now with her senses. It's not clear to state that she's entirely okay now. Ms. (L/N) (Y/N) is still so far from being so out of the hospital."

Mikey's chest began to get heavy. As long as you're alive and breathing, he's contented.

Koko also went inside the room, and he was like in a hurry based on his expression and how he was walking to Mikey in haste, informing him of crucial news. "Boss, Ran is sent to the hospital."

"What?" Mikey's brows furrowed, dismayed. "How the fuck?"

"Let's get out of here for a moment," Koko said as he motioned Mikey out of the hospital room with him.

They know that these doctors and nurses will snoop on their conversation. Especially since their topic is related to guns and such. The doctors already marked in their heads that they're criminals.

Koko sighed in distress. "None of us know why and how, but the news I got from Kakucho and the others is that he was shot. Sanzu and Rindou came with him. They're on their way to the hospital."

"Goddammit," Mikey clicked his tongue. "Who was the last person that Ran talked with?"

"I believe it's Kakucho. I saw him and Ran walking in the hallway and to the elevator a while ago."

"Tell Kakucho to come to me. Now," Mikey commanded. "Let Rindou and Sanzu handle Ran's situation, but make sure that they'll contact you."

Koko nodded, quickly dialing Kakucho's number.

"-And, don't leave here, but make sure that you'll keep in contact with them. I'll constantly check-up with (Y/N) in the room. Update me every hour, got it?" Mikey added.

"Got it," Koko responded.

Mikey sighed, proceeding inside your hospital room and leaving Koko outside in the hallway.

"Doctors-?" Mikey called to ask about (Y/N)'s condition, but his eyes widen from the abrupt scene in front of him.

Almost every nurse and doctor in the room are running around to frantically gather their supplies as the beeping monitor beside (Y/N)'s bed was speeding up.

"Oxygen!" one shouted, and they promptly place an oxygen mask over your mouth, attach more tubes and equipment into your body, hasten fluids from the dextrose, and conducting other catastrophes that might make a patient's guardian anxious due to these peculiar procedures.

"W-What's happening?!" Mikey asked in a shout, panicking.

"Sir, please get out of the room. We'll handle this. The patient got into sudden disarray. Please, leave the room right now, sir. It will affect the procedure."

"Wait, no! I need to know what's fucking happening!" Mikey shouted with full despair. "Please! I know that we're fucking criminals, but please! Don't think of the patient, she's innocent! Save her!"

"I know- We know, sir. But please, get out of the room," the nurse said.

"Boss Sano," Koko also went inside the room, witnessing the chaos inside. "Let's get out of here and wait for the doctors' updates."

"It's the same! It's been the same thing for almost a month! Updates here, updates there, fucking everywhere! Has anything gotten better, huh?! Do you see her at least giving a response?! I'm tired of seeing the same shit, the same view from that stupid glass window, the same updates from what we call 'doctor', the same beeping monitor sound, the same sight of (Y/N), laying there lifeless which I can never look at because it pains me so much! The only response that I got from her was a tear... a fucking tear! Do you know how that pained me so much?! I don't want this never-ending cycle! You see, one of our higher-ups got sent to the hospital, who knows if he's still alive! What? Another hospital again that will tarnish our presence because of this so-called criminal scheme?!" Mikey shouted, his voice cracking with full of despair, extremely dejected. Tears threatened to spill at any moment because of the pressure, and heavy emotions lurking in his chest. Everything is stuck inside, in his chest, brain, and everywhere. No space, but full of possible dreads in his mind to the point that he can go berserk and crazy.

"History keeps on repeating!" He added.

"Patient 101 will need a defibrillator! Her pulse and heart rate are unstable," the nurse shouted. "Sirs, please get out! The patient is in a critical condition!"

Koko had no choice but to manhandle his own boss, Mikey, and drag him out of the hospital room. "Please... Sano. Just follow the procedure... everything will be in place. Please... I'm begging you. Only this time... Listen to us..."

"Let me go! Damn it! (Y/N)!" Mikey shouted while he was being pulled away from you, tears blurring his sight as he screamed at the top of his lungs.

The doors to your room slowly closed, only the light peeking from the inside through the door's slit was his last glimpse of you.

"Let me see her at least for once, please!" Mikey shouted, begging as he sobbed through his pleads.

What Mikey doesn't know, is that it's the same thing with Ran.

Same one wish from two people.

(Y/N) (L/N)'s POV

I felt nothing. I felt like I have no senses. I felt like I wasn't even alive at all. My body is numb. I can't move a single muscle. It hurts. I felt paralyzed.

I can hear the echoes and ringing of the voices inside the room.

"Patient 111, Ms. (L/N) (Y/N)'s pulse is unsteadying! Her heart rate is... deteriorating!" one of the nurses said as I feel several needles, tubes, oxygens, and more countless machines supporting my body... my vulnerable life in the line.

I am holding on for dear life. I'm still fighting. I still want to live. I'm scared to die.

"One... two... three... clear!"

My body felt a shockwave due to the defibrillator in my chest, like a CPR longing for my body and sense to wake up.

The sounds of the beeping monitor, the machines, and the voices start to abate in my ears.

I can no longer hear anything but a long beep.

I knew that I was on the verge, but I kept on finding where that voice is. I am slowly forgetting it.

He has a monotone voice. He always tells me stories before he sleeps. He reassured me, knowing that I am unconscious, and there was a possible chance that I can't hear him. He tried. All of these can guarantee that he was the only person who was beside me in my hospital bed.

I know someone is still waiting for me.

A breeze of nostalgia with a saccharine ambiance was what welcomed me next.

The next thing I knew that I felt like I was in a dream.

It felt real.

My body suddenly felt healed. Everything felt healed. Everything felt light, like a flock of feathers.

A light struck my eyes. The source of light in this place was diaphanous and surreal. I can envisage ivory sculptures in various shades, and I can also see familiar white clouds forming like a fortress and structure.

My eyes wandered everywhere. My field of view scanning every corner of this foreign place.

I noticed a distinct orange tinge contrasting with the surroundings and lighting while I was looking around.

I winced a bit, eyes blinking as I look at the scenery in front of me.

Oh God... it looks so familiar.

It's the paradise, with the sunset behind the lake, peeking in those mount hills. My panorama felt like it stretched even wider, letting these unknowns wider my vision to see more things I missed. The beauty I missed for the past few years.

I heard a familiar voice beside me, and my head turned to the side to see a face I thought I could never see again.

"Draken...?"

He was also watching the sunset in this what I call paradise.

"It feels real, right?" he smiled, his gaze averting back to the sunset.

My brows furrowed in confusion.

"At least just for a short time, we can watch the sunset together. I'll savor it," he added.

"This... this paradise is the same as the park we always go to before, the blooming flowers, the beautiful scenery of the sunset on the lake. It's so pretty," you thought as you also accepted on watching the sunset. The grazing scorch is agonizing yet mesmerizing.

"This paradise and paraluman are beautiful," Draken muttered.

I furrowed my brows. Why was the word "paraluman" so familiar?

"I could never ask for more... especially when the paradise and paraluman combine together. It felt like magic. Thank you for accepting me again, (Y/N). I heard your prayers. Thank you for keeping the walkie-talkie like a treasure, and listening to my final pledges," he added.

I listened to him saying those words to me like a mantra. A melody playing in my ears. It's like I could never want to leave this paradise ever again.

"But- it's not your time yet, (Y/N)," Draken turned to you. "I just visited you in our paradise, for the final time so that I can finally rest in peace."

I try to hold myself back from saying that I want to stay here forever, but I know it's impossible.

"Someone is waiting for you down there, (Y/N)."

My breath hitched, opening my mouth to say something, but I felt like I can't speak. My glossy eyes shone. Draken saw a scintilla of doubt and ephemerality of trepidation, all indicating that you're all puzzled by all of this.

"Tell Mikey that I forgive him," Draken added once more, smiling forlorn.

As he was saying that, I can feel a presence coming into this paradise, making me look behind me, to where I also came from.

I can hear voices and rings reverberating in my ears soon enough. I felt someone guiding me out of this place.

"It's not your time yet, (Y/N). Enjoy and fulfill the time of your life. There's a brighter future that awaits you. Goodbye, (Y/N)," Draken said.

I make one more attempt to sprint toward him, but he was slowly disappearing amidst the clouds and into the sunset. That sight convinced me beyond a doubt that this isn't real.

But as I was leaving this paradise, I just saw someone entering it, and he was familiar. He was looking at me with a bitter melancholic smile. I know him... I know who he is.

Ran and I held eye contact for a moment, his eyes widening as he caught a glimpse of you.

Ran and I will now part ways forever and beyond at the gates of heaven, the one they call the pearly gates.

"I'm glad my prayers were heard, thank you. Time gave us a chance to meet again... to see her again. That's enough. I'm already contented. Thank you so much," Ran thought, and his thoughts were loud yet serene.

His lips formed into a genuine contented smile as he stopped for a moment, waving at you before you can even leave this paradise.

"I took care of you until the end."

Third Person POV

What a miracle...

"Patient 111, Ms. (L/N) (Y/N) is awake!"

The nurses and doctors were startled by how (Y/N)'s pulse and heart rate went back to normal. They stopped the defibrillation as they quickly turned on the generators and checked up on you.

You feel your body and senses slowly working up. You feel your muscles tensing up as your finger twitches, catching the attention of the nurses.

"Ms. (L/N), can you hear us? Are you able to open your eyes?" one of the nurses called.

You can hardly open your eyes, and it was hard even if it's just moving your eyelids. You feel so paralyzed.

"Call the guardians."

Koko and Mikey are still sitting in the hospital hallway's chairs. Mikey's foot is tapping at the ground every second and he kept on fiddling with his fingers due to panic and nervousness. His mind is filled with hopes and prayers, and the loud heave and beat in his chest barely helps.

"Sirs, we have urgent news," the nurse said, taking a long breath.

"Ms. (L/N) is finally awake."

Mikey's heart dropped, eyes widening, and he never felt so overwhelmed in his entire life.

He didn't waste time barging inside the room to finally witness and see the person he was waiting for to wake up every day on that hospital bed. The person he waited and watched over.

And she was there, alive and breathing, sitting on the hospital bed with the doctor beside her.

"Oh..." Mikey can't help but burst into tears as he saw you. "(Y/N)...!"

He sat on the hospital bed in front of you, called your names several times, asked you if you were feeling okay, and basically told you almost everything.

"(Y/N)? Can you hear me?" Mikey asked, then averting his gaze to the doctors with a questioning look.

But neither (Y/N) was answering nor giving any response, only staring at Mikey.

"Give the patient a little more time, sir. She just woke up."

(Y/N) only hummed and nodded cluelessly, her brows furrowing, nose scrunching with a puzzled look. Your gaze wandered around the room, eyes blinking from the foreign atmosphere.

"Ms. (L/N), what's the last thing you remember? Do you remember anything?" the doctors tried to ask.

No response from (Y/N).

"(Y/N), it's me... Mikey... Manjiro. It's me," Mikey tried to get your attention, and you only tilted your head slightly.

"Sorry, but..." you whispered, and those are the first words he heard from you after months. He felt contented, his heart jumping in joy as he heard your voice, at least that's enough.

The next thing he heard made his heart drop in agony. His eyes brimmed with tears, and his stomach drop in grief.

"(Y/N)... it's me, Manjiro..." he tried once more, desperation laced in his pained voice.

It really happened. The thing he feared. Time is really limited, and time can be playful too.

"Who are you?" (Y/N) asked, mumbling.

Oh well, history did really repeat itself.
