Chapter 52

╰┈➤ ❝ [starry night]

Third Person POV

"Bring her in the trunk."

Hanma commanded the three men as soon as he heard the news.

Chifuyu grabbed your arm as he carried your unconscious body. The others opened the door as they inspected the hospital hallway, seeing no one is around.

"Tell the men to block the CCTVs lurking around." Hanma told.

"Go." He added as a signal, then Mitsuya, Haru, and Chifuyu who's carrying were the first to proceed in the hallway, going straight to the hospital's basement.

After at least some minutes that felt like an hour, the men finally arrived at the parking lot basement, where their black van is parked.

"Bring her inside, make sure no trails were left behind." Hanma told, then they went inside the vehicle.

Mitsuya, who was driving, instantly revved up the vehicle. Hanma is in the front seat, followed by Haru and Chifuyu in the van's backseat, where they tied your body and put tape over your lips.

"Where will bring this (Y/N)?" Mitsuya told in a slightly irritated tone, "What will we do with her?"

"You see, she represents a vulnerability in Bonten. Whatever necessary reasons, just keep her in the meantime. She'll be a good use to onslaught those filths." Hanma yawned as he lit up a cigarette.

The van began to move as they exited the hospital's basement parking lot, and they only needed to go to their base as soon as possible to resolve the conflict with Bonten.

"Those fuckers really attacked," Hanma scoffed, "They knew (Y/N) is in the hospital?"

"Obviously." Mitsuya rolled his eyes.

"Tch," Hanma only gave him an irked look, then looked at the backseat through the rearview mirror. "Check (Y/N)'s temperature."

Chifuyu grabbed a thermometer as he checks your temperature, and his brows furrowed, "Still forty-one point five. A high fever."

Hanma just nodded and looks at you in the rearview mirror, his eyes narrowed and then looked back at the window.

"What sedatives did you give?" He added.

"Uhh, I don't know," Chifuyu shrugged, "Just a moderate one, I think?"

"Moderate? Then why's her fever high?"

"Probably because you didn't check her drug intolerance and intake," Mitsuya retorted, "Dumb fuck." He then whispered.

"The fuck did you say?" Hanma turned his head to him.

"Focus on the road, passenger." Mitsuya bantered as he rolled his eyes.

"Chifuyu, can you tape this son of a bitch's mouth next?" Hanma told, and Chifuyu just chuckled.

After a few hours of ride, everyone is sleeping except for Hanma who's talking to someone on his phone, and Mitsuya who's driving.

Your fingers twitched, and your eyes slowly opened.

Your eyes are blurry and your head feels heavy, yet you forced yourself to stay awake. When you saw tape over your mouth and a rope wrapped around you, you almost panicked. You shifted your gaze to your surroundings subtly as you recognized those men's faces from earlier.

"Bonten? At what area did they attack?" Hanma said in an angry voice, and he was almost shouting. You decided to listen to his conversation.

"Basement, sir. They've hacked into our camera systems ten minutes before they took the gate down, now we can't track them." The worker on the phone said, and luckily, it's on speaker mode.

"Bullshit! Fucking bullshits!" Hanma shouted through the phone, "Recover the system right now if you don't want any of you to lose your job, or better yet, die."

"Track them down this instant! You don't— Hello?!" Hanma continued shouting.

"S-sir— they've— they're all over! I-it's a wreck in here! Half of our guards in the front gate are... down!— Bang! They're all— d-dead—" Hanma's worker said, and the call was jittery with gun noises, you know it's Bonten.

"Bonten's forces are too strong—! We've been snared— Bang!" He added, then the line cuts off.

"Fuck, Mitsuya, speed up the van. We need to get there immediately." Hanma commanded, and Mitsuya stepped on the gas, going full speed.

"Shit." You thought, and this is your last chance to escape.

Luckily, you managed to steal one of the drugs and syringe from Hanma's duffle bag a while ago in the hospital, and you kept it in your pockets before passing out.

"Hu—?" Chifuyu slowly wakes up, but you grab the syringe and silently inject him in the arm. His eyes enlarged and his mouth opened, prepared to shout, but his eyelids dropped and he passed out from the drug.

You saw the blood prickling on his skin, and you shiver as you hate seeing stuff like that, but you had to bear it.

Then there, you were about to sit back on the chair to pretend as if nothing happened, until you felt an arm grab you.

Your eyes widened as Haru pushed you back in the seat with an enraged grimace, but you quickly pushed him off, trying not to make any noises in case the two people in the front seat noticed.

Haru seized your neck and wrapped his arms around it, suffocating you as you gasped for air. He took the advantage to steal the syringe from your hands.

"Haru..." You whispered weakly as you desperately reach for the syringe in his hand, and tried to inhale air.

"G-give it b-back..." You coughed as your fingers trembled.

He didn't speak but only stared at you with mixed emotions. You can't understand the glint in his eyes.

"Y-you think— cough— you think Draken... would want this?"

"Who the hell is Draken?" He finally spoke, and your eyes widened.

"T-that's mask's real name..."

Haru's eyes widened in shock. You inhaled for air as tears brimmed in your eyes from his hands tightening on your neck.

"Let me go, Haru," you coughed. "Draken wouldn't want this."

"He's dead, he's the only one I have and you dare to mention him at times like this." He groaned as he tightened his grip around your neck.

"S-stop..." You coughed as the lack of air caused your vision to blur, and you kicked your legs in an attempt to push him.

"You're one of a hell pathetic wimp son of a bitch." You grunted, finally, you reached for the syringe, then stabbed him with it on the shoulder.

You pushed him off, and it made a thud noise on the floor that made Hanma and Mitsuya look in the backseat of the van.

"Fuck!" You didn't waste any time opening the door.

"(Y/N)!" Hanma stood up from his seat as he reached for you, but you dodged his hand as you kicked it.

You kicked Haru and snatched the key from his pockets. You kicked the van door open, and your heart nearly explodes as you see the height distance, particularly the speeding vehicle.

You only have one choice, jump. It's now or never.

"Damn, you. (Y/N)!" Hanma shouted as he grabbed the hem of your shirt.

But you jumped out of the van and collapsed on the rough road, your body sliding as you collided with the branches of the tree. You coughed out loudly as blood seeps out from the wounds and cuts in your skin from the impact.

"A—ow..." The pain felt like torment, you can barely move your limbs and joints. You just desperately hoped that no bones were broken.

Tears brimmed from your eyes from the pain but you quickly heard a car noise coming closer, so you quickly stood up even if a jolt of pain shoots through your whole body, but you ignored it as you run away limply.

You felt something stinging sharp on the side of your stomach, and your palms were smeared with blood. Your eyes widened in horror as you slowly gazed down with quivering lips.

There's a small wooden twig stabbed on your stomach, and it's from the fall a while ago.

"Oh God..." You grieved as you couldn't stand looking at it, the gore, the dread of an object piercing your flesh. Just thinking about it makes your skin crawl with fear and disgust.

Yet you have to survive.

You feel your body getting weak as you walk around in the woods, in the middle of nowhere and you don't know where you're going. You leaned at the large tree for a while as you rest against it, fighting the urge to close your eyes.

"Mikey, where are you...?"

"Come the fuck out!"

Bonten workers shouted as they started to attack Hanma and his organization's headquarters.

"What I hate the most are cowardice fuckers." Sanzu yawned as he wiped the blood on his hands.

When Bonten's higher-ups entered the wrecked building, they quickly pulled out their guns and fired at everyone who got in their way. They maintained a high level of security by keeping an eagle-like eye on every area of their sight in case of snipers.

"Hanma!" Ran shouted as he kicked the door down of every room, and cocked a gun side to side to find his target, "Come the fuck out!"

In Hanma's headquarters, each Bonten man is assigned to a certain duty and location. One thing they must remember is to be cautious, as Hanma's motivations might be unpredictable at times.

An enemy attacked behind Rindou but Ran only gave it a brief glance. He didn't waste any time in sprinting toward his brother, striking the man who was attacking Rindou.

Rindou's eyes widen as he was stunned, and he looked at Ran.

"Focus." Ran coldly told his brother then walked off after.

Until now, they still haven't made up.

"More barriers at the front." Kakucho told Sanzu while they were knocking out some workers on the stairs.

"Carry some more ammo, I've ran out—" Sanzu told, but he was cut off when a man in front of him showed up on the stairs then jumped and kicked Sanzu down the stairs.

Kakucho's eyes widened as he was taken aback, and he looked behind to see Sanzu laying limply on the stairs, "Sanzu!"

Kakucho looked at Hanma's workers who attacked Sanzu, and almost three men are blocking Kakucho with rifles.

"Bonten, huh? You're not going anywhere." The three men pointed a gun at Kakucho.

Then Kakucho jumped from the staircase, but he grabbed the stair railings and hanged himself there, then used the gaps between the metals to pull the men's feet down the stairs, causing them to fall like dominoes.

"Sanzu!" Kakucho then walked to Sanzu and shook his body to wake him up. "Can you hear me?"

"H-huh?" Sanzu coughed as his eyes shot open.

"Thank God," Kakucho sighed, "Avoid looking at your side when going at narrow paths, the enemies are more likely to attack you from that direction, remember."

"Ah goddamn, my shoulder hurts," Sanzu groaned as he stood up from his fall's impact, "Where the fuck are those?!" Then grabbed his gun as the two continued attacking the men.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the building, the other men are there.

"Boss Sano told me to bring more backups."

Koko said on the phone while walking beside Mikey, and they're inspecting Hanma's wrecked headquarters.

An enemy ran towards Mikey, but he merely dodged it and kicked his head, making the man collapse on the floor in an instant.

"Fuck!" Then, Koko and Mikey heard some familiar voices, and they looked at the corners to see that Ran, Rindou, Koko, and Kakucho went back to the base where everyone is.

"How's the clearance in every place?" Mikey asked.

"Good, just some small injuries." Kakucho told as Sanzu's arm is slung around his shoulders.

"What happened to Sanzu?" Koko raised a brow.

"We're assigned at the location of the stairs, right? Well fuck it, we were attacked by at least three men at a certain area, then ambushed us and kicked Sanzu down the stairs."

"My shoulders just got bruised, I'm fine. Though I think my foot has a problem." Sanzu groaned.

"Koko, replace his position," Mikey commanded. "Give me the radio, I'll contact the men from our base."

"First of all, where the fuck is that Hanma?"

"It's perilous, we need to be cautious." Kakucho replied.

Mikey had enough, and his chest flared as he looked around to see that Hanma is nowhere to be found.

"HANMA!" He shouted.

As if on cue, a barrage of gunfire pierced the walls, and everything around Bonten crumbled. The collapsing bricks and walls produced a huge cloud of smoke.

"You're finding me?" Hanma's voice boomed loud as he walked through the smoke towards Bonten.

"Hanma." Mikey grunted as he glared at him.

"What a scumbag, Mikey!"

And there, also three men walked behind Hanma. It shows Mitsuya, Chifuyu, and... Haru, making Bonten's eyes squint from the familiarity.

"If it isn't one of our office's employees." Sanzu snorted as he shook his head.

"You don't even know my name, see?" Haru gritted his teeth.

"Why the fuck would I care to know?" Sanzu scoffed.

"See?" Haru gritted his teeth, "You treat your employees unfairly, looking at them based on their hierarchy and social status."

"Isn't that also the reason why you all killed Mask?!"

"I despise working at your organization..."

Bonten only furrowed their brows and glared at his words.

"See?! HAHAHAHA!" Hanma shoots a bullet beside Ran, making his eyes widen, "You all are negligent!"

"No remorse, negligent, unnegotiable, yet at the end, all of you will go for naught!"

"Do you still remember the time we had a meeting at Roppongi? It's our first and last meeting as good acquaintances!"

"What do you want, Hanma?" Mikey said.

"To bring back someone alive, yet isn't the impossible?"

"I want to do the impossible too, it can be killing one of you..." Then Hanma looked at Mitsuya and the others, "or (Y/N)."

Mikey's eyes widened in horror from the mention of your name, and his eyes quickly averted to their side... you're not there.

"Let's settle everything here, Mikey." Hanma said as he took his gun out.

But as Hanma was getting his gun, Kakucho ran up behind him and slammed Hanma's head on the floor, making everyone freeze in their stance.

"These fuckers don't even know Bonten's law."

Everyone stiffened in their place as they took their guns out.

"Go find (Y/N), Mikey," Kakucho smirked, "We'll handle this."

Mikey didn't waste any time running out of the building to get to his vehicle.

Instead, Mikey chose his motor over his car since it has greater speed and resistance on the slippery road. The weather and ambiance are ideal, with raindrops steadily trickling

Mikey then rides his matte black motorbike which he usually uses for situations like this.

"S-someone!" Meanwhile, you're still going around the forest, struggling to keep your breath as your body feels shaky, and the drugs you were forced to take a while ago still have effects on your body.

You've got your walkie-talkie with you, and you've been hitting the various buttons repeatedly in an attempt to reach the other line. Your fingers slid clumsily over the buttons, wishing that someone would answer it.

"P-please... someone answer..."

You thought, maybe no one will answer the walkie-talkie, no one probably remembers you, maybe even Bonten.

You were worn out, nauseous, fatigued, cold, and exhausted while trying to find your way out of the forest, and it was almost getting dark, not to mention, the rain droplets starting to fall.

"Argh!" A sob ripped out of your throat as you felt the wooden twig that is stabbed on your stomach move an inch, shooting pain all over your body.

"H-h... I-I can't l-look at... i... it..." Your voice is shaky and filled with fear, lips quivering as you collapse on the floor.

The walkie-talkie also fell on the ground just beside your head, and your eyes are barely opening.

You felt like giving up... until a voice spoke on the device.

"(Y/N)?"

"M-mikey...? I-is that y-you?" You knew who the voice belongs to, and you immediately grabbed the device.

"(Y/N), w-where are you?" Mikey told in a cracked pained voice, and you can tell he was holding back his tears.

"W-why do you..." You hissed from the pain on the ground. "Why do you have t-this walkie t-talkie? T-this is Draken's..."

Mikey remained silent for a while, and you can only hear the wind and his motor on the other line.

"Remember the time when you visited Draken's gravestone and listened to his voicemail on the walkie-talkie?"

The recording left you in guilt that makes your chest heavy. You feel a lump in your throat forming as tears form in your eyes from the fear and torment that is starting to wrap around your head. You turned your back to Mikey to cover your mouth, attempting to hide your uncontrollable cries, hiccups, and weeps, fearing Mikey would hear you and wake up.

But Mikey is fully awake and heard everything, even the recording.

Again, guilt.

Your eyes widen. "S-so you know..."

Silence comes after that, only the rain pouring can be heard on both lines.

"This walkie-talkie is the only remnant left from Draken. I want to keep this, at least use this to communicate with you." Mikey said.

"B-but Mikey... I-I'm dying..." You coughed.

Mikey's eyes widened as he gritted his teeth, and he revved up his motorcycle to go on full speed.

"Hang in there, I'll be right there. Just please... stay awake." He pleaded desperately, his voice tangled in thorns.  Mikey can't even bear to imagine your situation right now.

"M-mikey, I-I'm scared. It's stabbed in my stomach... I-I can't look at it." You said with air leaving your lungs as tears blurred your vision, "W-where are y-you?"

A tear fell from Mikey's eyes just by hearing your voice, and the fact that you two are only communicating by a mere device is what pains him the most.

"L-look, I- blood is e-everywhere... I-I don't know w-what to do... I-It's stabbed in me..." All you feel is panic and fear.

"Don't be afraid, j-just..." Mikey couldn't think of anything to say since his mind was blank, his eyes were only focused on the road ahead of him, and his ears were focused on your voice.

He can't think of anything to say.

Nothing.

At least anything.

At least...

"(Y/N), stay alive. My plans on marrying you would be ruined."

Your eyes widened from what he said, and your heart beats erratically.

"We still have time, right?" He added, "We have all the time in the world."

"Just— just please stay alive, please..."

"I can't bear seeing you lying lifeless there when I arrive."

"I- I wouldn't know what would I do if I see that sight..."

You let out more cries and hugged the walkie-talkie, hoping it was him instead. You can't handle looking at the darkness in the forest, the towering terrifying wood trees, the swaying of the plants, blood smudged on your body, the twig stuck in your stomach, the thunders and rains.

"Don't be scared, (Y/N). I'll be there..."

But Mikey's voice is enough to take those fear away, even if it's from Draken's walkie-talkie.

You feel yourself desperately trying to get up from the ground, even crawling to get out of the forest, but your body is too weak, and all you feel is exhaustion.

Mikey can feel you trying to survive, and his heart cracked just by imagining it.

"(Y/N), do you see the stars in the skies? What a starry night, isn't it? "

You raised your head to look, "I-I do..."

"If this makes you less scared, just think that we're looking at the same stars." Mikey smiled softly on the other line, even if tears are streaming down his face.

"I see them... I-I don't want to die, Mikey..."

"I've been wanting to disappear, but one thing that's holding me back is you," Mikey said, "So stay alive for me too, okay?"

"Don't you remember what I wrote in the letter on your 18th birthday? Right? I said that I started to believe in horoscopes because of you. Until now, I still do."

"Watch the stars, keep those eyes on them. I'm looking at the same set of stars. Do you see that one over there? It's perfectly aligned with the others. Do you see it, (Y/N)? Don't be scared now. "

You nodded, even if the tears are blurring your sight, you still watched the stars.

"Draken is one of those stars."

"But you, (Y/N)? You'll never be one of those stars, the ordinary stargazers aren't allowed to see you. Only I can see you, okay?" Mikey said in a soft tone, he's really reassuring you as if you're beside him.

Mikey had to switch off his walkie-talkie for a bit since he can't handle his tears anymore and focus on his driving as he finally let out his pent-up tears, anger, and guilt. He lets the wind dry his tears as he sped up his motorcycle.

"M-mikey... are you still there?" You asked while trembling on the ground from the cold, and you're hugging the walkie-talkie like it's a stuffed toy.

"I-I'm still here," He hiccupped as he tries to hold his tears back... but it's impossible, "I'm listening, I'm always listening to you... forever..."

"Can I promise you some things, Mikey?" You sobbed before speaking. You hissed as you coughed out blood, and more blood oozes out of your injured stomach.

"Tell me everything, (Y/N)."

"My first promise... I'll marry you after everything, and you'll see me in a white gown."

"My second promise... we'll meet again after a few years if ever this drastic fate separates us."

"My last promise... I'll never be one of the stars up there."
