Chapter 51

╰┈➤ ❝ [bad blood]

Third Person POV

"Eri (L/N)— J-just Eri..."

You sighed as you spoke with the receptionist at the counter since you're now in the hospital and you didn't hesitate to go when those men gave you permission. Still, you're wary of your surroundings, fiddling with the hem of your shirt and gripping the strap of your bag while you take deep breaths and shake your hands.

"Relations?"

"I-I'm her daughter."

The receptionist raised her head from the computer screen and papers. She raised her brows and noticed your state. "Are you okay, ma'am?"

"Yes," you frantically nodded.

"M'kay, proceed to room 106." The nurse said, still not fully convinced. "If you wish to check your blood pressure and heart rate, feel free to coordinate with the nurses at the other counter."

"N-no thank you, I'm fine." You quickly muttered then just walked away.

You stepped into the elevator and ascended to the hospital room level. You went out as soon as the door slid open, and the corridor appeared to be empty. Your heart was racing as you walked into the room at a quicker pace.

Finally, room 106.

You enter the room, and the mood is heavy and suffocating, as it always is.

"Mom..." You whisper as you slowly walk towards her, but to your surprise, her body is fully covered with a white blanket.

Your hands slowly reached for the blanket, but you retracted it as soon as you noticed the flowers sitting on the vase on top of the side table.

Walking up to it, your brows furrowed as you observe the red flowers slowly withering. It seems like no one is taking care of it anymore. You also turned your head everywhere in the room to see some dust on the drapes, furniture, and leftover prescription packs.

A conclusion came to your mind that no one is visiting your stepmother's hospital room anymore, not even the nurses.

Is your hunch true? You feel a pit in the bottom of your stomach just by thinking about it.

Soon, you decided to check your mother under the blanket.

"Mom...." You thought while slowly reaching for the blanket, and one thing only circulates in your mind, you hope she's now awake.

"Is this how comatose works?" You whispered, then quickly pulls the blanket.

It's like you saw a ghost, her skin is pale... very pale, colorless, with only the dark purple chapped in her lips showing a very slight vibrancy. The bruises are still visible... nothing changed... nothing.

"H-huh..." Your mouth gapes open, goosebumps forming on your skin, air leaving your lungs as stare at the horrid look of your stepmother.

You took a step back and hurriedly grabbed your water bottle, chugging it straight to calm yourself, causing you to drop to the floor with your heart racing. Tears begin to form in your eyes as a result of the unbearable fear you're feeling right now.

You feel like you're going to pass out, but you quickly stabilize yourself as you stood up from the floor.

You need to know something, you desperately need to know something about this whole enigma.

What's with this hospital?

In a haste, you quickly walked to the door to fully leave.

You twisted on the doorknob, but as you did so, it twisted on its own. The door swung open, chilly air coming inside the room as you saw the man behind it.

You looked at the unfamiliar man, but it seems like he was also shocked by his expression.

"Who are you?" Your brows knitted as you immediately grabbed the vase and smashed it against the wall, then defended yourself by pointing the sharp object at the man, "What's your connection with my mother? Why are you here?"

The man has a brown with blonde yellow streaks on his parted hair. He pushed his glasses up as he observed you, then a wide grin formed on his lips as if he deciphered you.

"So, you're the (Y/N). We finally met."

"I don't have time for this fucking bullshit, Rindou."

Ran is almost fuming in his office as he stood up from his desk's chair, leaving Rindou sitting on the couch all irritated by the fight that started a while ago.

"Do you think I don't see the way you flirt your way to (Y/N)? It blinded you by the fact that you quickly agreed to (Y/N) going to the hospital." Rindou said as he leaned back in the chair, purposely taunting his brother in annoyance.

"Just so you know, if (Y/N) gets in danger, the only person that I'm blaming is you." Rindou added.

"The hell you dragging (Y/N) in here for?" The older brother retorted as he looked back.

"She's not even here. Oh yes, because guess what? She's in the hospital, wow! Yeah, and there's a high tendency that she'll be seen there, right?" Rindou shook his head, "Do you even know the credibility in that hospital, Ran?!"

Suddenly, Kakucho, Sanzu, and Koko barged inside the room as they heard the commotion in the office, "Hey! What's going on between you two?!"

An hour ago, Mikey left the office to who knows where after the inspection at the office, where one of their office employees, Haru, is still being investigated. The other men just went to their designated offices and rooms to begin planning a strategy regarding the perilous situation. Though it seems like a flame has flared between the two Haitani brothers.

The two brothers just continued hinting at each other words, purposely making their voices loud as they talked shit to each other.

"Can you two calm the fuck down for a while?" Kakucho tried to calm the two down as they hold them down by their shoulders. "What's the reason why you two are fighting?!"

"It literally doesn't matter?" Rindou rolled his eyes.

"You're literally the one who hated her in the first place? Don't bring me to your situation." Ran forced a laugh, "What a hypocrite."

"Me? I hated her? Oh you know damn well what's the reason, Ran." Rindou scoffed.

"The reason is you were being an aggressive fucker that you didn't let (Y/N) explain her side back then."

"It's literally a fucking year ago or so?" Rindou stood up from his seat, "Why are you bringing my past back?"

"I was the one who brought her here in the first place, and I promised to look after her when she was in dire need. I used to be the one who would constantly provide her with those documents regarding her parents. In the bedroom, I was the one who cared for her. I was the one who was always patient with her, even if it got to an extent that it infuriated me. I was the one who took care of her. How about you? You did nothing but throw her your nasty attitude because you're too focused on the façade you're trying to keep yourself up with."

"Don't tell me you're falling for her." Rindou straightforwardly said, breaking his last defense.

"What if I told you I am? What are you going to do about it?" Ran raised his head.

The other men looked at Ran from the words he dropped.

"What? Break the contract she signed back then so that she'll be separated? Is that it? I won't be surprised anymore if you did that because you're one of a hell selfish fucker."

Ran walked to his desk, pulled open a drawer, and took out the contract you had signed that day which has been sitting in his drawer for almost more than a year now. Ran showed the contract in front of their faces.

"This right here in my hands. Is this contract the reason why she's here, or you all are just using the contract as a reason to make her stay? Make up your damn minds."

"See, Ran. The problem with you is you're being an impatient son of a bitch all of the time and always agree so easily, you're too easygoing that you bring vulnerability in us." Rindou raised his voice.

Ran had enough of his brother's words, making him stand up from his chair and walk to Rindou. Ran grabbed his collar as he punched his face, making Rindou stumble on the wall.

"What the fuck?!" Rindou stabilized himself as he pushed Ran off by his shoulder and also landed a punch on his face.

"Hey! Hey! That's enough!" The three men walked to them, but they only got shoved away by the two.

"I've been patient with you the whole damn time, Rindou." Ran gritted his teeth as he grabbed Rindou's collar.

"Dare to even tell me before that 'Are you even the older brother'? Delusional self-centered shit head."

Rindou furrowed his brows as he remembered that day.

"Are you even the older brother? Shouldn't you be telling me these things instead?" Rindou clicked his tongue, standing up as he got enough with his own words.

"You're the one acting childish, Ran." Rindou said orotundly before closing the door behind him with a loud shut.

And there, Rindou left Ran's office, leaving a bitter and cold atmosphere.

"In certain situations when it comes to (Y/N), egocentric is all in your head. While me, I have perseverance in looking out for everyone. We're different, Rindou, so don't throw me those words that are reflecting yourself." After Ran said that, everyone went silent. He lets go of his brother's collar and shoved him out of his way then walked out of the room.

Rindou just clenched his jaw as he wiped the blood on his lips from Ran's punch a while ago, and just clicked his tongue in annoyance.

He had to acknowledge that the day you returned to Bonten, he still couldn't accept how you'd lost your memory, and his emotions got a hold of him. Until then, he must learn to understand that you will form a new bond with him, even if your past memories are buried.

Sanzu, Kakucho, and Koko just sighed at the dispute between the two brothers. Rindou just ignore their chastising and his brain still taking in the words that Ran told.

"You two, if you don't make up, our plans to infiltrate Hanma would be postponed." Koko told.

"I have no intentions of reconciling with Ran." Rindou clicked his tongue.

"Well boss Sano told that Hanma has intentions of reconciling with (Y/N)."

"So, we finally met, (Y/N)."

The man told in front of you, and you had to step back as he stepped toward you. You kept the sharp vase pointing at him just in case, "Who the hell are you? Answer me!"

"I believe that you knowing my name is unnecessary." Hanma yawned.

Then, he took a step closer to you as he grabbed your wrist, but you quickly averted it away and kicked his stomach then hits the vase to his hand.

Hanma groaned from the cut on his arm, making him irritated, "Never knew this weak woman bitch could fight."

Your chest flared at his words, prompting you to sprint over to him and grab his arm, twisting it behind his back before kicking his stomach violently with your knees. You grab the back of his head as you slam his forehead into the wall, a crack forming on the wall, "Whoever the fuck are you, I know you're bad news."

"Damn you! Fuck!" He groaned in anguish as he gripped his wounded forehead, and he dashed up to you, grabbing your shoulder and pushing you against the wall, but you seize his as well, attempting to push him away.

You grunted, but you quickly spotted those hospital surgical tubes on the side table. Wasting no time from his tight grip, you grabbed the tubes and wrapped them around his neck, then pulled it as you strangled him around it.

As soon as the man falls on the floor and coughing for air, you took the chance to run away.

Yet as you opened the door, three more men showed up, making you bump on to them.

"What's happening?" A man with black hair said.

"Oh?" Then the other one with a purple mullet hair as he looked over your shoulder to look at Hanma on the floor behind you.

Then your eyes slowly averted to the men behind them, and your stomach dropped, eyes widening from the familiar face.

"Haru..."

Haru's appearance changed, his hair changed, his aura changed, and you know that just by looking at him. He had this glint in his eyes that's contrasting into a void, he only had a stoic nonchalant look on his face as he peered down at you.

"Shit." You didn't think twice before running away, you know damn well that these three people are that man's acquaintance.

Then you felt an arm wrap around your wrist, pulling you back to the room as you landed on his chest. You attempted to scream for help, but the man only covered your mouth as they locked the door behind you.

"Good job, Haru." Hanma laughed as he stood up from the floor.

You scream and kick your legs, trying to pry away from Haru's grip on you, but neither he spoke nor fight, only following Hanma's orders. He then pushed you onto a chair as you winced from the impact.

"Haru?! What is this?! Who are these people?! What are you doing here?!" You shouted as he just walked away, joining Mitsuya and Chifuyu who are standing at the corner of the room.

"Haru!" You shouted, yelled, screamed, everything just to call his attention, but Chifuyu and Mitsuya just went to your side as they wrap a handkerchief around your head, covering your mouth. Then they also restrained you onto the chair with ropes as they locked you in it.

"Mmm!" You screamed through the cloth, kicking your legs as you try to stand up from the chair by wriggling your body with force.

"Quiet down, will you?" Hanma sighed.

"Fuck you! Let me go!" You said, but even though it's muffled, they understood it.

Your heart pounded as you see Hanma taking steps toward your stepmother who's still lying unconscious on the hospital bed... and he's holding a syringe.

"What are you going to do...? Stop!" You kicked your legs and arms, desperately trying to escape from the ropes.

Hanma ignored your plead and beseech as he only grabbed the dextrose where the medicine, and other various liquids going inside your stepmother's body. He then injected a syringe into the dextrose, the drug quickly mixing with the chemicals as it entered your stepmother's body.

Your breath got stuck in your throat, eyes watering as you breathily exhaled from what you've witnessed, "S-so that's w-why..." You whispered, voice low and inaudible.

"Oh Eri, you know too much," Hanma said in a feigned pity voice, "(Y/N), your stepmother really knows too much, huh? Eri, you're never going to wake up."

"You all know too much, yet one thing that you don't know is that... I hold a high authority in this hospital." Hanma added with a sly grin.

Your eyes widened, lips quivering from his words. You felt sick to your stomach.

"Remember what I told? I hold many connections. Seems like being the right-hand man and dog of everyone is pretty handy sometimes."

"Well then, the first dose of drugs is emptied," Hanma said as he took his gloves off, "Mitsuya, Chifuyu, I need the second dose."

You turned your attention to the two unfamiliar men, but Mitsuya remained silent, giving you only a brief glance with a stern expression as he leans against the wall, hands in his pockets. Meanwhile, Chifuyu is searching the duffel bag for the bottle.

"Second dose is up," Hanma chuckled, "Man, these drugs are expensive, you know? You just can't find these in local barters."

Chifuyu handed the bottle to Hanma, who put the needle into it before transferring it to your stepmother's dextrose. You closed your eyes, tears threatening to spill as you felt sick and guilty that you couldn't do anything to save your stepmother, despite the fact that she'd been in the hospital for almost a year, only sitting and watching her health decline as the ropes dug into your skin like thorns.

"Okay, the second dose is done... and (Y/N)—" Hanma said as he then turned his head to you, his sharp maniac eyes meeting with yours.

"Your turn."

Your breath hitched as he slowly walked toward you. Your legs kick and squirm as you try to get out of these ropes, the heavy footsteps only make it worst.

Hanma then zipped open the black duffel bag that contained drugs, syringes, weapons, and other contraband.

"You'll just sleep for a bit, no harm intended."

"No!" You wailed as you saw him take out a cloth, and puts medicine in it. You know it'll make you sleep.

Hanma stood in front of you as he grabs the back of your head and then leaned down while sticking the cloth in your nose, but you turned your head side to side frantically to avoid smelling it.

Then, Mitsuya and Chifuyu walked to you as they hold you by your shoulders and arms, stabilizing you in your place.

"Breathe it in..." Chifuyu whispers in your ear as Hanma sticks the cloth in your nose, but you didn't inhale and you're just holding in your breath.

"So fucking stubborn." Hanma groaned as he removed the cloth from your nose.

You feel like your lungs are going to explode, so you took the chance to breathe in, but as you were doing it... he also took the chance to put the cloth in your nose.

"Fuck..." You fell for his trick, and you inhaled the intoxicating drugs. You feel your eyelids progressively getting heavy as your body felt weak and flimsy.

Before you pass out, the last thing you see is Haru standing at the corner of the room, and your eyes flashing him your pain and betrayal before it closes.

"Haru... why?"

Hanma smirked as you completely passed out. Your head dropped to your side and your hair was strewn across your face. Hanma just tucked hair strands behind your ear and then held your chin, looking down at your unconscious form and resting face.

"Bonten, huh? I see."

A phone rings in Hanma's pockets, and he took it out as he answered the phone. His brows furrowed as he heard his worker telling him information, he immediately stuffed the phone back in his pockets as he clicked his tongue.

Hanma told the three men, and they immediately called their workers, etc. Then there's Haru, whose eyes widened in fear.

"Bonten has arrived, they already attacked our place."
