Chapter 33
❝ FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE ❞
33
"So... do I just talk here."
You said while trying to navigate the walkie-talkie that Mask gave you yesterday, and you were still inside your room, not even getting the chance to step outside.
Y/n isn't complaining though.
"Why isn't this working." You grumbled as you pressed a few random buttons, and it's not like a regular walkie-talkie, it's more like those kinds of advanced handheld transceivers that are used in offices.
"Hello?" Until you heard a mechanical robot-like voice talk on the walkie talkie and you almost threw it.
"Holy shit—" You inhaled sharply.
"Hello? Y/n, it's me, mask." He said.
"Oh hi."
"Can you hear me? Sorry if the audio is poor, but can you still hear me?"
"Y-Yeah sorry, my soul left my body for a second." You replied.
"Oh," he chuckled. "Anyway, I can hear you."
"Mask, may I ask why are we talking here instead of on your phone?
He paused for a brief moment before answering. "I-I just broke my phone."
"Oh, what happened? You dropped it or-?"
"Yeah, sort of, but let's not talk about that."
"I'll just send you a message when you can text me, as soon as my phone got fixed, you'll be the first person that I'll message, 'kay?" He said, and you can sense a soft smile from him on the other line.
"Okay, I'll wait for your message." You smiled.
"By the way, when can you get out of your room? And how was your trip to Roppongi with them?"
"It... it was good and yeah." A blush crept on your face as you recalled some events.
"And how'd you know?"
"We employees in the office know where our bosses go because our job is also to track them and their work, not just their documents," Mask said.
"And also—" Mask was about to speak until his voice was cut off, followed by a beep.
"Hello?" You furrowed your brows then looked at the gadget.
You just sighed and put the gadget down, then laid down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.
"What's happening..." You groaned as you rubbed your forehead. "Everything is in chaos."
A knock on your door was heard.
"Who's there?" You sighed as you stood up, but then stopped as you were hesitant to open the door.
"Y/n?" You heard Mikey's voice.
"Shit<" you quickly ran to the walkie-talkie and grabbed the box under your bed to hide it.
"Y/n?" His knocks were thumping louder. "Open the door."
"W-Wait!" You said in a panic as you were quickly stuffing your things back inside.
"What are you doing in there?" He said in a bit irritated tone while knocking.
Mikey sighed and just grabbed the duplicate extra key to your room from his pockets and opened the door.
As he entered, he saw you standing on the side of your bed while your arms were behind you.
"What?" You gulped, responding with an annoyed tone while he was walking towards you.
"What were you doing?" He raised his brow.
"I was changing my clothes."
He only nodded, but still didn't believe you.
"' Kay, change your clothes again." He said as your eyes widened.
"What do you mean?"
"We're going somewhere." He replied.
"Oh."
"Why? What were you thinking, hm?" Mikey said as he stepped forward.
"What?" You replied hastily while backing up.
Mikey only took one step forward until the backs of your legs hit the bed and you fell backward, your back landing on the bed as Mikey towered over you, both hands on either side of your head.
"M-Mikey..." Your breathing hitched as you looked everywhere except for the man on top of you, and your heart pounded loudly.
"So, how was your night in Roppongi with those three?" You felt his hot breath and raspy voice on your neck, and your eyes widen from the question.
"You think I don't know—?" He deeply chuckled at your ear which caused a tingle in your stomach.
"...That you're being fucked by my own members?"
Your breath caught in your throat as you stared at him in disbelief, yes, you don't mind if others knew, but him? The top leader of Bonten? The man who k Mikey has already made you doubt your own actions, but you act as if you can do anything.
Mikey inched his face closer to your neck, it's like he can hear your heartbeat this close.
"You're getting nervous, I'm not doing anything yet." He chortled then stood up, and you were left dazed on the bed.
"Get up now, we'll go to the hospital." He said then walked to the door. "What? We'll visit your stepmother, you haven't seen her for a long time now, don't you want to see her—?"
A glint in your eyes sparkled, and you smiled; it's been a while since you last saw your stepmother, and you miss her dearly, really wanting to see what's her condition now in the hospital.
"Um, yeah I want to go." You said as you hurriedly stood up from the bed and changed your clothes, almost forgetting that Mikey is still in your room.
"Um," you muttered then you just heard him deeply chuckle before leaving the room, still leaving you with a blush and a flustered face.
You are now outside the hospital, and Mikey is the only one who came with you because the others were too busy.
"I'll stay here or do you want me to come?" Mikey said while parking the car.
"I can go by myself." You replied as you went out of his car.
As you went inside, you immediately went straight to the receptionist.
"Excuse me, room 106, Eri L/n." You said while the receptionist nurse is typing on the computer.
"Oh, welcome back sir L/n." The nurse said while her eyes were still on the computer until she looked at you then her eyes widens.
"Sorry what?" Your eyes narrowed.
"My apologies, I thought you were that man the last day because you both have the same information, same room, and same patient name." The nurse apologized as she bowed.
"Wha— who was it?" You asked as you felt worried, there could be no one who is visiting your stepmother except you.
No one knows her hospital location, except you, Draken, or maybe some of her old friends.
"He didn't mention his first name, only his last, and it's also L/n."
"L/n?"
"Can you describe him?" You asked.
"He looks like he's in his fifties, and he pretty much looks the same as you," The nurse said.
"Is he perhaps your father, miss L/n?" She added.
You went silent, you knew that both of your parents were missing, but your father visiting your stepmother in the hospital without you knowing?
It's like visiting a grave.
"I— I'll just go in the room, thanks for the information." You said as you collected your things on the counter.
"By the way, here's my number." You said as you gave her a piece of paper with your number in it. "Please update me whenever someone visits my stepmother, especially the man that you're talking about." You hurriedly said as you then quickly walked to the elevator.
As you went out of the elevator, you walked inside your stepmother's hospital room.
You took a deep breath as you walked inside the room, the air is dense, and it seems like you were not ready to see your stepmother yet after almost a month.
"Oh, mom." Your voice cracked as you saw her state, she was still the same, with tubes stuck on certain parts of her body, bruises still visible, various liquid medicines injected into her body, and she was still on dextrose, and it was just painful to look.
It's like... nothing has changed.
You sat beside her bed and caressed her cheeks, the oxygen mask and tubes in her mouth and nose still on her face.
"Mom, please— please wake up." You said in a voice close to tearing up.
"When you will wake up, I'll tell you many stories, please wake up... you're the only one I can trust now."
"Even Draken left us—" You said, but you were cut off as you saw her fingers move a bit.
Your eyes widen as your heart thumps loudly; you swear you saw her move as if she was desperately trying to reach you, and her chest heaving only quickens.
"M-Mom?" You said in a shaky tone, you quickly checked her and her vitals.
Then she didn't move after that, you were still left in shock in your seat. Goosebumps formed on your skin, and the air around you felt suffocating and heavy.
You checked her body and listened to her pulse as you wrap your hands around her body, but then your hand slipped under the pillow and you felt a paper that cuts your finger skin that causes it to bleed.
"Ouch—" You hissed as you shake your hands, and blood smudge on the pillow and bedsheets, but then you saw the paper peeking from under the pillow.
In curiosity, you grabbed the folded paper inside the envelope and read it.
You thought it was just some medical documents like her medicines, but you were wrong.
Dear Eri L/n,
Greetings, I don't know when will you wake up, but it's me Fujio L/n, Y/n's real father.
Your eyes widen as you felt a jolt of pain in your head, and you composed yourself for a while before continuing.
You must be wondering why there's a written note under your pillow as you woke up after a coma; I just hope you haven't lost your memories. First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude for taking care of Y/n despite all of the incidents and chaos that happened in the past, I'm glad I chose you as her second parent, and I'm glad to be your spouse, even if it's by force, yet I never regret anything. I'm not sure what I'll do, just thinking about facing my own daughter pains me so much, especially after what happened in the past that had such a huge effect on her. I'm a cruel father, I hid from my own daughter for almost a decade, causing her so much suffering, and I'm also the reason her mother died, yet I'm thankful that you filled that role, Eri, as Y/n's mother.
After all of this, if I can get out, I'll take her to the church again, and maybe I'll see her smile like before if she still remembers it, but I won't be expecting any forgiveness.
A thank you isn't enough for you, Eri. A sorry isn't enough for my daughter, Y/n, and my wife, Nina.
For now, this is all I can say, even though I can give thousands of pledges and letters.
Nevertheless, I shall face my consequences and face my daughter at the right time, but the past stays hidden because-
...it's forbidden knowledge.
Sincerely, Fujio L/n.
As you were done reading the letter, silence fell in the room, it felt like time was passing by quickly as you were reading each letter, and you felt empty.
Tears were on the paper, and you refused to believe everything written in this letter.
Refusing to believe that your father is still alive.
You shakingly put back the letter under the pillow, your hands still trembling as your breathing is unsteady.
You closed your eyes to compose yourself, but the tears spilling refuse to do so.
You looked at your stepmother once more while your mind went all a mess.
"You're back, how was it?" Mikey asked as you went back in the car from the hospital.
You didn't answer and just stayed quiet inside the car.
"Y/n—?"
"It's fine. Let's just go home." You replied with a forced smile.
Mikey just looked at you and then focused back on driving hesitantly.
You covered your mouth as you were facing the window, desperately trying to hold back your tears, and you tried to think of something else, trying to forget about earlier.
Fortunately, a notification dinged on your phone, and you used that as a distraction.
However, your phone is on the phone holder in the middle of the car seat, which acts as if it were a table, and your screen lit up as soon as it received the notification.
And it was a message from Mask.
Mikey looked at your phone, but you quickly grabbed it.
You gulped as you just prayed that he didn't saw anything at least.
(Mask) :
hey y/n, i have my phone back, we can text each other here now.
Sent 19:42
You quickly hid your phone and tilted it to the side, and you side-eyed Mikey and saw that he was busy driving.
But Mikey has eagle eyes, and he secretly looked over to his side while his eyes were narrowed. watching you while still driving.
