Sometimes
Sup, everyone. This chapter includes speculations for Rick Riordan's series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and Trials of Apollo. My advice: if you're planning on reading these. Probably wise not to read this. But eh. If you wanna, there's no way for me to stop you. Read ahead, dear readers~<3
Sometimes I sit down. And have a good long thought process of a certain author who's works have enamored me over the past years of my life.
A certain. Rick Riordan. I know some of you haven't read his books, but I'm going to describe them to you right now.
The first season was all his doing. Every idea was put together by him in a brilliant mash of pure brilliance (did I mention it was brilliant?) I love his first series. Completely and totally. But here's why I like his other series.
Yes, the second series and on had a plot. He had an original idea that sprouted a story. But I must tell you. He listens to his fans. He listens to all those dumb headcannons we've made, all the dumb comics. Everything. And here is why I like Rick. (The fandom calls him Uncle Rick, though I'm not COMPLETELY sure why) I think, and this is just my thoughts, I think he truly liked some of the things we've come up with.
Evidence #1: Trials of Apollo
There's a lot to say about this book. A lot. First things first. Apollo across the fandom has been seen as an idiotic god who writes even dumber poetry. We adopted this from the image Rick first gave us. That is, the fact that he was AWFUL at poetry but still believed himself to be amazing. Rick expanded upon Apollo in this book (obviously), and I think he included elements of the fandom's idea of him.
Second thing, Solangelo. Oh yes. This is a very big hint. Or at least I take it to be this way. Yes, you can say, "But they met and fought with each other at the end of the battle. It probably started there." Well. I'm gonna say, probably not so much. There really wasn't much there. Until, ah, the fandom came in. Seeing Nico heartbroken stabbed us in the gut too. We needed someone else to ease all of our pain. First person we see who can act completely cool around Nico. Click, you've got your shipping suspect. And I will admit, I supported it. Heck, I even just recently wrote a one-shot for them after I got a request. And guess who else supported it? Ding ding. Uncle Rick himself. Brilliant.
Evidence #2: Heroes of Olympus
Now, I realize this maybe should've come first, but bear with me. I'm not a pro at "conspiracy theories". Yes, I believe the beloved 7 along with Nico and Reyna were also somewhat affected by the fandom.
Yes, we know that Nico is a sad kid. Adding together the fact that his sister died, his first love didn't work out, and he's the son of Hades. Not much to say there. Hades... Well. Not the best of dads to write home about.
But everyone knows how Rick pictured Nico in the first series. And quite frankly, he didn't have the right idea. Everyone in the fandom can agree. I will now show you Rick's vision vs. the fandoms vision:
Rick (I love you..... But what?)
Now. Here's our beloved ghost king. (I'm going to have a lot of pictures, I'm sorry in advance)
Yep. Who has the better image? Sorry, Rick. And, this may just be me, but I think he even updated his description of Nico in the later books. I can't fully remember.
Anyways, I don't know where I was going with this... But Uncle Rick? You're super cool. Good job. You even inspired me to start writing. Thanks. And I now know I suck at conspiracies. If this can even qualify as one. That's all I got. I'm tired XD goodbye, everyone.
