Balance.
Melrose and Necmi Laughlin.
Mel coughed lightly as he and Necmi had fallen into a blinding desert storm, their energy alone was sufficient to have the sand swerve around then, even the dusty air. "Where in Raziel are we?" Necmi muttered as he staggered to his feet then helped his love up aswell. "I have no idea." Mel replied as Necmi pulled him in for a hug. "I thought I lost you." The arch angel cried as Melrose wrapped his arms around Necmi, well tried to anyway. "I'd always find my way back to you." Mel comforted as he too cried, it felt good to be in his mates arms again. "I love you Khalil." Necmi pressed a kiss to Mel's head as he still kept his warm hug tightly in place.
"I'm in love with you, you know that." Mel stated with a chuckle as he appreciated the feel of his man in his arms, nothing on earth or wherever they were could change how much he loved Necmi. The larger angel sighed as he let go and smiled. "Can you find us a way out of here, you opened the door, can you open it again?" Necmi began as Mel held out his hand and tried to open the dimensional door but he couldn't find it. "I can't, it's as if it doesn't exist." Mel replied as he recounted how he opened it the first time. "It was a spur of the moment decision, I didn't even realize I was opening the door until I did." Mel explained as Necmi comforted him with a back rub. "It's fine baby, we're together, we can deal with whatever it is together." He soothed as the storm suddenly stopped and they were surrounded.
"Don't move!" A demon called out aiming a spear at Mel and the five others aimed theirs at Necmi, just because he was much larger. "You don't understand, we have no idea where we are." Mel tried to explain as black chains formed on his wrists restraining him. "Mel!" Necmi growled as he ripped the chains to pieces with pure force, and made a sphere of light encase him along with another one that he forced to grow, blinding their attackers allowing him to grab Mel and fly off with him. "Follow them!" He heard the demon yell and Mel had no choice but to try and port them away, he was successful but it seemed they still followed.
"How did they follow?" Necmi questioned as he now hovered in the sky above a mountain with Mel by his side. "No idea, but I have a feeling we need to know more." He replied as the two of them descended to where the demons were, they had human forms, Mel expected them to transform, instead they willed their power out through their weapons like hunters with sterlings. "Angels, you've killed and persecuted our kind for so long, now you mock us by entering our territory and expect us not to retaliate by killing you." The demon from before spoke again as he trained his katana at Mel. "You've got this all wrong, we're not from this reality, how do I explain this,—I opened a door to your world by mistake, that's why we were in your territory." Mel explained but they still didn't seem convinced.
From above a hail storm of ice shards appeared aimed not only at the demons but Necmi and Mel too, Necmi didn't think on it just acted, he created a light barrier and spread it over his mate and the demons protecting them from the shards. "Sympathizers will be killed!" A female voice screamed as fire rained down on them but Necmi's shield worked and was unharmed. "Does that atleast tell you something about us." Mel aimed his statement at the demon who frowned. "Babe, help." Necmi grunted as he pushed his shield outward and Mel released a beam of golden holy light aimed at the four angels assaulting them, Necmi followed by creating weapons made of light and shooting them at their opponents and on contact they exploded.
Mel charged lightning in the sky and made it rain on the angels, blazing white chains held the four angels scorching their skin as they struggled. Mel's wings appeared on his back, he made them shield the demons below as Necmi unleashed yellow light on the angels rendering them unconscious as a portal opened beneath them, and they were gone. Once the fight was over Necmi turned to his mate checking if he was harmed. "I'm fine Necmi." Mel protested as Necmi was satisfied with his prodding and lifting. "Come, you need to meet them." The demon who now they assumed was the leader stated as he held out his hand and they vanished.
The two lovers and five half blood demons appeared in a forest, it was dark with a moon shining above in the sky, silver light bathing them below. "Tell me, where are we going exactly." Necmi grunted out as the demons kept leading them until they passed through a barrier, and what was on the other side was a sight to see. It was a modern bazaar, filled with all kinds of mystics, even angels. "Welcome to Votari Sancturia, place of rest, largest market in the world and home of the council." The demon stated as he led the way alone whilst he nodded to the others who left.
"I get why you'd need a safe place but this is ridiculous, why would you need sanctuary, your world seems normal." Mel stated as a scoff came from behind him. "Only an ignorant fool would say that." A gruff voice stated, his tall lanky frame gave Mel the impression that this man seemed easily weak but that wasn't the case. "I'd appreciate you don't insult my mate, he is no fool, he doesn't know and seeks to know therefore you educate us not mock us." Necmi hissed, his eyes burning a bright white. "Forgive me master Nevaris, I was on my way to the council hall to show you and the others our guests." The male demon from before stated bowing before Nevaris. "It's alright Dery, I felt a change in the bazaar, two very potent powers had made the alarms go off and had come to investigate, I believe they are the cause." Nevaris replied as Dery whom they now knew by his name nodded.
"You're not like the other angels, why is that?" Nevaris questioned. "Wouldn't it be better we answer your questions behind closed doors, whatever we have to say, you might not need it causing unintended panic." Necmi replied again as he held Melrose close, gesturing to the buzzing market with a lot of interested eyes. "Of course." Nevaris stated as he snapped his fingers and they were ported to the large hall, it had to be, because just like the hall at Harwin, the two shared similarities and symbols of houses that long had gone dormant unlike that of Harwin though. "My name is Melrose Faith of house Lucifer, this is my mate, the arch angel Necmi Laughlin of house Raziel, we came here from aether well our version of aether, I opened a door from there unknowingly falling into this plane with my love." Mel explained as Nevaris stroked his beard.
"So you mean to say that you can open dimensional doors into other realities, fascinating." Nevaris stated as he looked at Mel with nomore animosity rather fascination and a thirst to know more. "I guess that's the theory, I can't open the door again unfortunately because well —I have no idea." Mel added as Necmi just comforted him silently. "Why did the angels attack us Dery, why do you need sanctuary when your world seems to be in balance outside, humanity has done amazing feats in technology, there are cities, towns, it seems alright." Necmi questioned and the demon sighed. "The pact made sure we do not harm humanity and that our fight for control cannot and will not pour over into their world." He replied but Mel and Necmi still had questions, suddenly the lights in the hall all lit up.
"Centuries ago, we had peace, humans and mystics, we lived in harmony, until the angels sought to rule over us all, branding all other races as inferior and incapable of governing order, so they attacked, humans and mystics alike, we were all forced to either fight back or flee but the angel's plan had been long in the making, they had us cornered and they won the war before we could truly co operate and amass our own fighting force. The humans made a plea, they were a weaker race compared to all of us, they brokered peace, no mystics were to kill humans or interfere with their lives, of course a few more by laws were made but in the end humans were freed of the angel's tyranny." Nevaris explained showing images of all that had happened.
"Two hundred years ago an uprising came about, it was the demons, they fought for all of us, risked their lives for justice and peace, when their efforts bore fruit the other mystic races joined them and we fought back, fought till we died, heavy casualties on both sides occurred until the council of six led by a demon here made a pact with the angels, earth would be divided in two, one side given to the angels, another to us, and ever since then as long as you're free folk and in the right territory you're safe, unless you wander onto angel territory, they kill mercilessly." Nevaris finished as Mel swayed and grabbed onto his mate, whatever he saw Necmi inturn saw, they both hissed as all the knowledge of the reality they were in was being poured into their minds.
When it was over they knew Nevaris was telling the truth. "Here quickly sit." Dery offered as Mel was first to sit then Necmi at the small table. "How could they, angels bring warmth, peace and joy, they guide lost souls and govern the aether with celestial power so that souls indeed find peace." Mel cried as he lay his head on Necmi's shoulder. "Your mom told me that we are all capable of good and bad, no person is just a field of flowers with warm sunlight, they are also a violent storm ripping apart everything, I guess the same could be said for here, we come from a world where demons were supposed to be the enemy but now everything is not so black and white." Necmi expressed as he sighed holding his mate close.
"She sounds like a wise woman, you must understand, all of us are capable of great evil or great deeds of good, but we must all come to the choice, to accept that we aren't perfect, accept that we have darkness and that some choices must be made and we must live with those choices despite them being good or bad, it doesn't make us bad or tainted, it makes us balanced, we are all scales, we must find balance in who we are." Nevaris added as it clicked in Melrose's mind, the reason why his power took him to this exact reality, why he couldn't open the door back to his reality, he needed to learn the lesson.
"All my life I've strived to see things in two colours, black and white, but ever since I came to Harwin I've been forced to confront my view on the world, on myself, nothing is black and white, nothing will make sense at times, but I need to stop avoiding what's there beneath the surface, how can I be balance when I've only ever acknowledged one side of myself and when the other tried to force it's way out I suppressed it, forced it down and tried to hide from it, all children of Lucifer are born with darkness, we are so afraid of becoming dark that we try everything possible not to acknowledge that darkness but it doesn't work like that, the morning star is the brightest because it is a sign of hope, a hope in all the darkness it shines in, I understand." Mel mumbled as Necmi lifted his chin and kissed him.
Slowly, gently until Nevaris cleared his throat, Necmi groaned and Dery just looked away blushing. "I'm glad." The older bearded gentleman exclaimed as the barrier shook outside, the sanctuary was under attack. "They have come, I'm assuming it's for you two." Dery stated as his team all burst into the hall looking weary but ready for a fight. "I'll summon the council, we must defend the city, get to safety, we'll hold them off." Nevaris stated but Necmi shook his head in refusal. "All due respect Nevaris, we're helping you defend your home, then we'll go back to ours, fortify your city, we'll hold them off." He asserted nodding to Dery who nodded back in acknowledgement.
"Come my love, let's teach some angels manners." Necmi smothly stated as he grabbed Mel's hand and they vanished. The two appeared in front of an army of two hundred strong. "It's rude to come knocking so late at night, people need their beauty sleep." Melrose called out as as angel almost as tall as Necmi huffed and came forward. "My my, Fern is about to be pleased with the two of you." He smiled snidely and Necmi scoffed. "Stop your assault, I won't ask twice?" He ordered but the angels all around them scoffed readying for a fight. "I warned you." Necmi grunted out as a burst of light from his body blinded most of the angels, he created a miniature sun and shot up into the sky making the dark night, bright as midday.
Mel was facing five angels trained with weapons, but it didn't matter, portals opened above and around them as water poured from them, then he super heated the air to cause the water to turn into mist which covered them all. "Go." He ordered Dery and the others he'd brought, he could clearly see their surprise when they could see in the mist but the angels couldn't. He just chuckled as his wings appeared on his back and he shot up higher into the sky, spotted another regiment of angels, summoning sand into being, he poured Hamish's power into it tuning it from gold to crystal white then unleashed it like a storm of whirlwinds ripping apart the angels, blood and torn body part were left when the storm died down.
Mel on instinct made a katana appear, made of black crystal and defended against two angels who were attacking him, they aimed holy light at him, he absorbed the hits and outputed them in a more destructive way, disoriented the angels fell back but he attacked, stabbed the first in the gut and pulled out the katana, made golden fire erupt on the blade killing the angel whose blood was on it then went to attack the second angel in precision killing him with a cut to his neck. Necmi was like a flash of light, he was light itself therefore had it's speed, none of the angels could touch him as he cut through them with ease. He vanished from his spot in the air as Mel incinerated twelve of his opponents in an inferno of golden fire.
Dery and the others were on the ground fighting as Necmi waved his hand encasing them in light bubbles, Mel unleashed golden sand below like the storm they had found themselves in. "Burn and feed my sand with blood." He whispered as the angels below screamed in utter torment until one by one they died. The storm vanished and Dery nodded above to Mel as their opponents —those who were left gathered to create one regiment of thirty led by the one who had spoken first. "I'll take him, you'll handle the rest." Necmi instructed as he vanished and appeared in front of the largest one, they traded blows, one trying to gain an edge over the other, until Necmi smiled and burst into tiny fairy lights, above his opponent a circle of angelic symbols opened and unleashed a thick beam of deep rose pink light that incinerated the angel.
As for Mel he stood against twenty as the other nine were facing Dery and his team. "I'll make this quick." Mel stated as waved his hand and from the ground thick bean stalks burst out, these were different though, they pulsed black, as they weren't green at all, they were black and once they trapped an angel in their vines they turned into crystal and exploded, most of the angels were caught in the blasts, as Mel conjured his final attack, unlike the sand, smoke was conjured into being around him, it's golden hue filling the space. "Move out of the way." Necmi ordered as the smoke began invading the angel's minds and caused them to create self inflicted attacks which caused mild explosions until they were all dead and dropped to the ground.
"Thank you for helping us, I've never seen attacks like that." Dery mumbled as he bowed, Mel waved him off. "They'll be more on the way, we need to prepare." Nevaris stated as he appeared next to Dery who nodded and left. "Thank you again for helping us." He added as Mel's hands were littered with symbols, on the left were crystal white marks, glimmering as were the green ones on the right. "It's time we go home huh." Necmi mumbled and Mel nodded. "Thank you Nevaris for helping me understand what I needed to do and how to do it, I guess I needed to learn through experience." Melrose stated as he came forward and hugged the man. "You're welcome, Melrose Faith." He replied as they separated, Necmi didn't go for the hug, he shook the demon's hand.
"I need to leave a gift for this world, they need to find balance, like I did." Mel knew it was the right thing to do, to help them, as he and Necmi both ascended into the sky with glowing white wings Mel commanded his power into being like in the aether, a vortex of golden energy this time much more controlled rippled out and created balance in the reality they were about to leave, leaving it better than they left it, as he held out his hand and a portal opened. "The door was always there, I just needed to realize the way out." Mel stated as he went in first followed by Necmi, behind them the portal closed, the two lovers found themselves in their home again.
"It feels good to be home." Necmi chuckled as the door to their bedroom burst open. "Khalil, Necmi!" Angelo almost barrel rolled out as he threw himself at the two squealing, his parents also came from the room as Hamish and Laurie showed up from behind them, and Abe along with Rizzavi, Kean and Haden came from the spare bedroom. "Oh my children." Ceres cried as she embraced her boys, her treasure. "I'll allow it this one time." Mel whispered in Killian's mind as the large man hugged his family, nothing could've been a picture perfect moment than this.
"Oh my boys, I was ready to rip apart the world to find you." Ceres cried as Mel chuckled. "No need to be so dramatic mom." Mel whined as they all chuckled. "I missed you too Rose." Ceres added as she placed a kiss on Mel's forehead. "Your dad did too, despite the macho attitude he's putting up." She added as Killian rolled his eyes. "I know." Mel expressed as they finally separated though Angelo stayed glued to Necmi. The door burst open as Harry ran in and tackled Mel to the ground. "Uncle Harry." Mel whined as Harry just broke down cried. "You're still a cry baby huh." Ceres teased as Harry finally stopped crying. "He's my first nephew and kid —sis, don't blame me." He retorted as everyone finally got in their hugs.
"We missed you both so much guys." Laurie exclaimed as she hugged the two. "We're here now, want to fill us in on what happened?" Necmi asked but Ceres shook her head in refusal. "Nope, you're going to shower, then eat, then sleep, maybe after that we'll fill you in, alright, —great, go." Ceres stated leaving no room to argue as Angelo refused to leave Necmi, when Necmi let him go to Killian, he just moved to Mel. "I'll put him down for a nap." He told his parents as he and Necmi closed the door to their bedroom. "We are home." Necmi chuckled. "Yeap."
