Hurumi's pov:
As I walked through the monastery hallways, my thoughts weighed heavily on my conversation with Misako. The things I had done in my past were awful and that's not even mentioning the things I did to Lloyd, and I knew that Misako would have strong emotions about it. I understood her anger and disappointment, but I also hoped that she could find it in her heart to accept me and see that I had changed.
Finding Misako in her study, I hesitated for a moment before knocking gently on the door. She looked up from her work, her expression guarded. Taking a deep breath, I gathered my courage and entered the room.
"May I speak with you, Misako?" I asked, my voice steady but filled with apprehension.
She nodded, gesturing for me to take a seat. I chose a chair opposite her desk, settling in as I prepared myself for the conversation ahead.
"I know that what I did was...wrong," I started, my voice filled with sincerity. "And I understand your anger towards me. I was once a part of an organization that sought to destroy Ninjago, and made it my mission to have a completely evil version of your husband kill your son, I can't imagine how betrayed and hurt you must feel."
Misako's gaze softened slightly as she listened, but her guard remained up. She spoke with a mix of sadness and resignation. "I trusted you, Harumi. I believed in you. And to learn that you were part of the very enemy we fought against, it's difficult for me to come to terms with."
"I understand," I replied, my voice gentle. "I don't expect forgiveness right away, and I don't expect you to forget the pain I've caused. But I want you to know that I've changed. I've seen the devastation and darkness that my actions brought upon Ninjago, and I am determined to make amends. I want to protect this kingdom, just like you and the ninja do."
Misako sighed, her eyes searching mine for sincerity. "How can I trust you, Harumi? How can I trust that you won't revert back to your old ways?"
A pang of regret and guilt filled my heart, but I kept my gaze steady. "Actions will speak louder than words, Misako. I know that it will take time for you to fully trust me again, and I am willing to prove myself. I understand if you need that time, but I hope that one day you can find it in your heart to accept me for who I am now."
Misako studied me for a moment, her eyes reflecting a mixture of emotions. Then, with a sigh, she leaned back in her chair. "Lloyd means the world to me. As his mother, it's my duty and my instinct to protect him. I can't promise you instant acceptance, Harumi, but I am willing to give you a chance. Just remember, if you betray that trust, there will be consequences."
Tears welled in my eyes as relief flooded over me. "Thank you, Misako. You won't regret this. I will do everything in my power to protect Lloyd and make up for the pain I've caused."
We may not have completely healed the wounds caused by my past actions, but in that moment, a seed of understanding and acceptance had been planted. It was a step toward redemption, and I was determined to prove myself worthy of it.
As I walked out of the room my mind was in another world so of course I ran face first into someone. I looked up to see bright green eyes piercing through my own.
"Hey Rumi, what were you talking to my mom about? It wasn't anything embarrassing right?" Lloyd asked his curiosity, quickly turning to worry.
"Oh yes she told me all about when you were a baby." I teased watching in amusement as he ran in yelling at his mother.
