Kayla stood there as Tony stared at her with anger brewing behind his eyes.

"What the hell were you thinking? He could've killed you" said Tony

"He wouldn't have"

"Kayla..."

"No dad, you need to listen, I am a grown ass women and I can make my own choices and friends, you do not get to choose for me, so just stop" said Kayla who walked away not wanting to make a bigger scene.

A week later and Kayla woke up in her bed to see another blizzard wreaking havoc on the city. She got out of bed and made her way down to the dinning room to see the team sitting there with worried looks on their faces.

"What up?"

"Have you seen Loki?" asked Natasha

"Not since last night why?"

"Show her" said Tony to Thor

Thor led Kayla out to the helipad where there was a circle of burnt ground, the ground that appears when the bifrost is summoned.

"I don't understand" she said not wanting to believe that Loki had left her.

"He left Lady Makayla"

"He wouldn't" said Kayla with tears forming in her eyes.

Kayla and Loki had spent lots of time together and they had become more than friends in recent days. She wouldn't believe that Loki would leave without saying goodbye.

"He returned to Asgard late last night"

"Why?" asked Kayla turning to face Thor

"I...I don't know"

"He wouldn't leave without saying goodbye" she said getting upset.

"I told you he couldn't be trusted Kayla, this shouldn't be surprising" said Tony

"He changed dad, he's different he would've said something...to me"

Kayla ran off back inside but she didn't go to her own room she made her way to Loki's room, she wanted him to walk in and wrap his arms around her like he wasn't even gone. Kayla sat on the floor next to the window looking out over the city wishing he was there, Kayla remained there for hours which turned into days.

Christmas Eve

Kayla was sitting in Loki's room as she always did when Natasha walked in and knelt down beside her.

"We're about to turn on the tree and watch a movie, do you want to join us?"

Kayla shook her head, she didn't much interact with the team anymore.

"I know you miss him, but staying in here isn't healthy, we're worried about you Kayla, we'll be in the lounge if you change your mind"

Natasha got up and left the room, Kayla looked at the door and sighed, she didn't mean to worry any one she just missed him, her heart ached because he wasn't there, she'd give anything to see his annoying smile one more time.

Hours later and it was midnight, Christmas day and so Kayla got up and left the room, she wandered into the lounge to see the beautiful tree.

Kayla smiled slightly she loved Christmas but it wasn't the same this year, not without him. She walked out to the helipad with a blanket wrapped around her and sat on the edge looking out over the city.

"I know you miss him" said a familiar voice

Steve sat down beside Kayla

"I also know that you love him and I know he loves you"

Kayla turned her head the slightest bit

"He had to have had a good reason for leaving"

"He did" 

Steve and Kayla turned to see Frigga standing there.

"Is he...?" asked Steve

"He needs your help Makayla, or he will lose himself, will you help him?"

"Yes"

"Then we shall go"

The bifrost came down and Frigga held out her hand for Kayla, Kayla looked back at Steve and he nodded at her, she smiled at him and took Frigga's hand and they disappeared along with the bifrost.

"Good luck kid" said Steve looking up to the sky

Asgard

"Woah" said Kayla as she stood in a golden room, there was a man in golden armour on top a podium in the middle of the room.

"This way" said Frigga as she walked out to the rainbow bridge.

"Its beautiful" said Kayla as she saw Asgard, it truly was beautiful.

Frigga and Kayla made there way towards the castle, they walked up the steps and inside to see Odin sitting on a large golden throne.

"What is the mortal doing here Frigga?"

"She helped him once perhaps she could do it again"

"Very well" he said 

Frigga and Kayla walked away down a corridor to the side and down many flights of stairs.

"Where are we going?"

"The cells"

"Loki's locked up? Why?"

"Whilst on earth Loki lost control of his magic and so he returned here for help that is why he didn't say goodbye to you, but when we tried to help him he got worse and so he asked to be lock away to keep the people safe"

"He left to...Protect me?"

"Yes, you mean a great deal to him Makayla, more than anyone ever has before and I sense you feel the same about him"

Kayla didn't say anything and she was so caught up in her thoughts she didn't realise they had arrived.

"Kayla?"

Kayla looked up to see Loki standing there behind a magical barrier. Kayla stared at him not believing what she was seeing, it was really him.

"Loki" she whispered

Frigga walked away leaving them to talk. Kayla walked up to the barrier and put her hand on as did Loki.

"I'm sorry...I..."

"Your mother explained why you left, but why didn't you come to me? I could've helped you"

"I know my magic and it can hurt people, I didn't want to put you in danger"

"Everyone told me that you abandoned me" said Kayla who leaned her forehead on the barrier.

"I was trying to protect you, I love you Kayla"

Kayla looked up at Loki and smiled with tears in her eyes "I love you too"

"I think I have found a way to help you my son" said Frigga who reappeared.

"How?"

"It includes you Makayla, If you're willing"

Kayla looked at Loki and said "Yes"
