Damaris' P.O.V
"Why do we have to move to Pommy country?" My younger brother winned at our parents. We were in the car heading towards the airport, all our gear packed and sent across to London already, aside from Seraph, the family owl and Riddles, my cat. We were moving to the UK, because our parents had just been offered jobs in the Ministry of Magic, and Australia was far, to far away to be travelling everyday for work, even if Aparating got you there in a few goes. So, my younger brother Gideon and I had, had to say goodbye to all our friends at ANZA of Witch Craft and Wizardry, in Australia, being transferred to Hogwarts.

"Shut up Gideon!" I whisper yelled as I glared at him. Mum and Dad had been hesitant to take the jobs, but had wanted to work for the Ministry all their lives, so I'd told them, us two would be fine moving. I didn't want us kids to be the ones that stood in the way of our parents dreams anymore than, having, children already did.

"Because our new positions are more effective in London, than here in Australia." Dad said as he glanced back at him threw the review mirror. Mum turned in her seat, stretching her seatbelt down from her neck so it didn't cut into the flesh, as she began to speak, Seraph, in his cage on her lap.

"We're really sorry that we've had to up and move you guys, but this has been a life long dream of your fathers. He's always wanted to be an Aura, and it's very prestigious and hard to get into, especially now, with everything that's been going on." Mum said in her British drawl, as she smiled sadly at us both, before turning back around.

"What does she mean everything that's been going on?" Gideon asked as he turned to me with furrowed brows. I raised a brow at him and crossed my arms across my chest, resting them on the top of Riddles travel cage.

"You wanker. Have you been living under a rock?" I started as I scrutinised him with a disbelieving look. "You know who? Dad was a Slytherin?" I said in a 'duh' tone as I rolled my eyes at him as his face filled with recognition.

"I'm not a wanker." He grumbled under his breath. I shook my head and laughed.

"You're such a git." I said with a chuckle, as we fell into silence, and I wiggled my fingers near the entrance of Riddles' cage, teasing him, for the last half hour of the drive to Sydney Airport.

Once boarded I settled into my chair, my neck pillow and eye mask on, and my earphones plugged in. To my right, Gideon switched on his screen and started a chat with a random passenger on the plane, as, too my left, mum started The Notebook, leaning her head on my dads shoulder, who sat on her other side.

Seven hours later, we disembarked at Singapore airport, a stop over for us, and spent the two hours between our next flight, in the butterfly enclosure, in the airport. We boarded the next flight and took up the same sort of routine, except Gideon was now watching Predator and mum was watching The Greatest Showman, while dad slept on her shoulder. Thirteen hours later and we were disembarking for the finally time, coming out into London Airport, the first time Gideon and I had even been in London.

"It's so busy." I said as we pulled our bags from the convyer-belt, mum grabbing Seraph, and me grabbing Riddles. We weaved through all the people in the huge airport, as I tried not to hit anyone with the cage. Singapore's had been big, but London's was busy, then again it had been 2am in Singapore, and it was 7am in London.

"The weather looks shit." Gideon said, and our parents looked down at us both with scrutinising looks. I shifted my eyes side to side, confused at why they were giving us such looks.

"Think positive guys." Dad said with a shake of his head, as he began to lead us through the packed airport, and out into the grey skied London street. We caught a cab for about half an hour, until we pulled into Privet Drive, Surrey. We stopped outside number 6 at, half past seven.

I climbed out of the cab, and went to the boot as the driver helped my dad take the bags out. Retrieving my bag, Riddles' cage in my other hand, I looked up at the light coloured brick, two story house. It had a dark tiled roof and was connected to the houses on either side. I found it personally weird and briefly wondered if the neighbours could crawl through their house and into ours, the thought scared the living shit outta me.

"They're attached." I said as I screwed up my face at the houses, as Gideon came to stand beside me, an equal look of disgust on his face.

"That's so creepy." He said back, as we remained looking up at the house with mild fear and disgust. I jumped slightly as dad placed his hand on my shoulder as he stopped beside me, mum beside Gideon.

"Do you like it, kids?" Dad asked as he shielded his eyes from the sun with one hand, smiling proudly. Weirdos both came from England, and were used to houses like this. When Gideon kept his look of mortification and said nothing, I cleared my throat and looked up at my dad.

"We've never had a two story house." I said, trying to force a happy smile. Dad bought it and pat me on the back with a grin, walking up the driveway to the front door. Mum glanced at me and laughed when my face dropped back into a sour one.

"You'll get used to it here honey." She said gently as she swung her free arm over Gideon's shoulder, as we followed dad up and into the house.

It was cold inside, despite the sun having poked out through the cloud cover, it must have been closed up for a while.

"Bedroom downstairs is ours. You two can fight over the two upstairs!" Dad called from in the lounge, at the end of the entry hall, a smile on his face. I rolled my eyes and started up the stairs, Gideon, just as underwhelmed as I was, slowly following me up stairs. We weren't rich kids who were used to a fancy house, it was just that, London was dark and rainy and, our house was connected to the neighbours! I really couldn't stress that thought enough as I dropped my bag beside the single bed, the room empty, and all our belongings in boxes in the hall outside our rooms.

I gave a sigh as I flopped onto my back on the bed, staring up at the old cream ceiling. Another thing to add to the list of creepy London houses, they're old. Riddles hissed and clawed at the cage door and I sat up quickly.

"Sorry boy, I didn't mean to forget you." I said as I unlocked the cage and Riddles sprinted out. He wander around the room and to the door, peering out. He decided, like usual, that he'd stay refined to my room, he was cat as loyal as a dog.

Downstairs the doorbell rung, and I sat up confused. I walked to my bedroom door and poked my head around the door frame at the same time as Gideon did. We both looked at each other confused, as voices sounded from downstairs, in the front entry. Unfamiliar voices.
