Under new laws administrated by the Ministry of Magic, any wizard and witch that is above the age of 16 must get married. This marriage is sort of an arrangement, where there is a "selection day". On selection day, the young men will choose from a large group of girls to be their wives, and if you are not chosen, you are executed on the spot.
