A few things that J.K Rowling wanted to do in the series but did something else instead:

1. Arthur Weasley was going to die, but she killed Sirius instead (I HATE THIS DECISION OF HERS!!)

2. Fred was going to stay alive
(Again, WHY?)

3. Ron was going to die

4. Hermione was going to date Fred after the battle of Hogwarts
