Anyways. On with the writing.

Remus

Remus Lupin was alone in his small flat worrying (as usual) when he heard a knock on the door. He waited to see if whoever it was would knock the code, his heart in his throat. The pattern was correct. Remus sighed in relief and flicked his wand to unlock the door. Whoever was here was a trusted friend.

Remus heard the door open, not even bothering to to sit up from his collapsed position on the couch. A blur of black came around the corner and he heard a bark moments before the black dog jumped up in the couch, panting in Remus' face. A grin spread across his face, instantly recognizing the creature.

"Quit it," he said with a laugh, ruffling the fur on Padfoot's back. "You're gonna get dog fur all over my couch." He was trying to keep a straight face, but he couldn't hold back a grin at knowing Padfoot was ok. Still alive. All was still well.

Padfoot changed back into Sirius, but since he hadn't moved from his position standing above Remus, there was now a very human Sirius Black hovering over him. Remus expected the other man to move but he didn't. So Remus searched his face for any signs that something had gone wrong on his mission.

Sirius has been gone on a relatively safe mission for the Order. However, with everything going on Remus couldn't help but be worried out of his mind. So as soon as he concluded that Sirius was ok, he wrapped his arms around his friend and hugged him briefly and tightly before letting his arms drop back to his sides.

"Thank Merlin you're ok, we were all so worried," he said, shaking his head at Sirius' aloof grin. "You know Pads, you really shouldn't grin like that after being late back from a mission. James hasn't slept in 2 days. Lily either. Me either. Peter too, probably."

Sirius' smile dropped until he looked as serious (no pun intended) as Remus had ever seen him. "I know. I'm sorry I was late. But I'm fine. Nothing all that bad happened. We just got delayed..."

Remus nodded, uncomfortably aware of the other man hovering over him, arms on either side of Remus's torso. "You scared us," he breathed, trying to ignore the pounding of his heart. Sirius was so close. "I was worried that... that you might not come back." Remus had been trying to remain neutral, talk about everyone's feeling not just his own mindless worry, but the words were just tumbling out.

"I thought about that, actually," Sirius murmured, lowering himself so he was just lying on Remus. He tipped his head up and their eyes met, faces only a few inches apart. Remus flushed, wonder what the hell Sirius thought he was doing. "I thought about it a lot."

"Y- yeah?" Remus stammered, his mouth having suddenly gone dry. It would be so easy to kiss him right now. So easy. And so stupid.

"Yeah," Sirius confirmed. "I kept thinking about what would happen if I didn't make it back," he explained, his face carefully kept expressionless. "And I realized... that I can't keep risking my life without doing a few things first. If I don't tell you something now, I might never get another chance."

Remus' brow creased. Sirius really wasn't making any sense. "Wait, but, what do you have t~" he was cut off by Sirius lips being pressed softly but purposefully to his own. The kiss ended almost as quickly as it had started, Sirius looking sheepish for the first time in his life. "Sirius," Remus breathed in shock, "what the hell..." He stopped, the rest of his question not coming out of his mouth.

Sirius frowned. "I know. I'm sorry. Just... I had to do that at least once... just in case..." He trailed off, looking disappointed. Remus tried to find the words to respond but they wouldn't come to him. "You seem... really confused right now. Which is probably my fault. But, er," he hesitated, giving Remus and opportunity to regain control of his senses.

"Sirius? Shut up." With those 3 words, Remus wrapped one arm around Sirius' waist and kissed him, his other hand cupping the side of Sirius' face. When Remus finally pulled away, a grin stretched across Sirius' face. "So," Remus said, smirking, "I'm assuming that's one of the things you wanted to do, but what were you planning to tell me?"

The hand on Sirius' face dropped onto Remus' chest as he relaxed, no longer awkward about Sirius lying on him. His hand slid up Sirius back a few inches, bringing the man's shirt with it.

Sirius sighed contentedly, shaking his head and letting strands of hair fall out of his messy half-bun. "I love you, Remus," he uttered finally. "I've loved you for a long time. I was so scared to tell you and be rejected, but the mission made me realize that I had to tell you. Before it was too late."

Before he could stop himself, Remus was laughing. Giggling uncontrollably at the irony of this whole situation. "Padfoot," he managed through his laughter. "What the hell took you so long?"

"What are you talking about, Moons?" Sirius asked, grinning confusedly at Remus' laughter.

Remus brushed a strand of Sirius' hair behind his ear, still giggling, before answering. "Sirius, if you've loved me all this time why didn't you say anything? I've been in love with you for years, and, well, I'm not the type of person that opens up about stuff like that, but honestly, why didn't you say something sooner?!"

"I don't know," Sirius admitted, grinning. "Clearly I should've. We've wasted a lot of time." Remus couldn't help but admire the smile on Sirius' face, possibly the biggest smile he'd worn since Lily and James' wedding. "But at least I told you. You know..." The smile dropped, and Remus' heart sunk with it. "Before it's too late," Sirius finished, sadness in his eyes.

Remus shook his head, reaching up to tuck a strand of Sirius' hair behind his ear. "Don't talk like that," he admonished. "I still believe that we can make it out of this. You and me. James and Lily. Peter. We're gonna be ok."

Sirius sighed, resting his head on Remus' chest, his face in the crook of his neck. Remus just wrapped both arms around the smaller man, kissing the top of his head. "I hope you're right, Moony," Sirius murmured, his breath tickling Remus' neck.

"I am," Remus assured him, his arm sliding up Sirius' back slowly while his other hand played with his hair. It was tangled and messy, but still soft and fluffy. "We're going to be ok."

He was wrong. Very wrong.

Well, there's my first oneshot. There's parts of it I like and parts I think are absolute trash but I kept randomly losing inspiration and just stopping in the middle of sentences so yeah.

Hope y'all enjoyed.

Um

Yeah.

Thanks for reading.
