Dramione (3) - Changing Sides

"You have something of mine. I'd like it back."

"I don't have anything of yours, Malfoy."

"Yes you do. Here let me remind you." Draco smirked.

"Malfoy I'm not in the mood for your games. Just leave me alone please."

Draco frowned then raised an eyebrow. "Okay, but... You still have something of mine."

*~*~*~*~*

This is based off the prompt, "Slytherin Misconception" That was published in the book House Cup - Contest Book. The book is shared on WattpadPotterverse 's profile.

I hope you all enjoy it.

P.S. this is set in a world were there is no war yet and Harry, Hermione and Ron are at Hogwarts during their 7th year. Also this is their 7th and final year at Hogwarts.

*~*~*~*~*

Draco had been acting very strange. As usual it was Harry that pointed it out. Hermione sighed not wanting to have this conversation with Harry again. Except when she turned around to look at what weird thing Draco was doing she was caught off guard. Draco was quite literally just staring at her.

When their eyes met Hermione noticed a small smile growing on Draco's face. She quickly turned back to Harry. Although she wasn't looking at Draco she could feel his eyes on her. She hated to admit it, but Harry was always right to suspect Draco.

Hermione had just about had enough of it. Since the Yule ball in their fourth year she had been catching Draco staring at her a lot more than usual. It had been almost 3 years now and he was still staring at her a lot.

"What's your problem Malfoy?"

Draco hadn't even realised that Hermione had walked up to him. He was stuck in his mind daydreaming. He smiled sheepishly at her and shrugged.

"Honestly!? What is wrong with you? You've been acting very weird." Hermione huffed.

"Would you follow me if I promised to tell you the truth?" Draco asked and raised an eyebrow.

"I guess." Hermione frowned.

Draco offered Hermione his hand. She shook her head no and waited for him to start walking. Draco shrugged and looked around. He hadn't realised that they were the only two left in the Hall. He at least expected to see Harry.

"Where's Potter?" Draco frowned.

"Are you scared he'll find out what you're up to?"

"Nope. Just curious. Wouldn't want him finding out what I'm about to tell you." Draco shrugged and walked off.

Hermione hesitated before following him. She made sure to keep a safe enough distance from him. Walking much slower than she usually did. Draco had paused and looked at her a few times. Eventually he just walked up to her and picked her up.

"Honestly, if you were any slower..."

"What?" Hermione frowned.

"You'd be going backward." Draco rolled his eyes and smirked.

He carried Hermione the rest of the way towards the astronomy tower. Hermione had protested at first. Then she accepted it since Draco ignored her complaining. Eventually she just made herself comfortable. Her head gently rested on his shoulder. Draco smirked at her as he walked.

Draco stopped at the door to the astronomy tower and waited for Hermione to open the door. Then he carried her up the stairs. He only put her down when he got closer to the railing. Not a word was spoken between them.

"So?" Hermione questioned.

"Do you really want to know?" Draco smiled slightly.

"Yes. Why are you so apprehensive?"

"It's just not something that's easy to say out loud." Draco shrugged and looked down.

"Really? I find that..."

"I like you, Hermione." Draco interupted. "I mean that I really really like you. As in I could possibly love you."

"I don't believe that." Hermione crossed her arms.

Draco smiled lightly and shrugged. "I don't know how to prove it to you. Other than doing this."

Draco leaned forward and kissed Hermione. Hermione hesitated before gently pushing him away. She pursed her lips together and looked up at him.

"I saw the mark Mal... Draco. And you hate Harry." Hermione said softly. "You choose your side."

"It wasn't really a choice." Draco tugged his sleeve. "Give me a chance please. I'm not just a generic Slytherin."

"If I do give you a chance. You'll only have one." Hermione said.

*~*~*~*~*

"I can't believe I trusted you!"

"Hermione wait. Just listen to me okay."

"No! I told you that you would only have one chance Malfoy." Hermione yelled and stormed off.

Draco sighed. "You wanted that to happen didn't you, weasel?"

Ron smirked. "You're no good. She deserves better than you and you deserve trash just like you."

"You don't even know me!" Draco yelled.

"You're evil and that's all there is to it." Ron smirked and left.

Draco sighed and dropped to the ground. It had been exactly 3 months since he confessed his feelings to her. All it took was 3 minutes to destroy the relationship they had been building. Draco, quite honestly, was broken.

Hermione wasn't that much better off. She had really grown to love Draco. He made her smile and always complimented her. She had kept their relationship a secret the majority of the time. It had been a mere 5 days since she had told Harry and Ron.

Harry was apprehensive about supporting her. Ron was just flat out jealous. Although Ron had turned her away to be with Lavender. He saw Hermione was happy and he didn't like it at all. Harry's suspension of Draco played nicely in Ron's favour.

Draco had tried many times to get Hermione to just listen to him. She wouldn't even look at him. The whole school now knew of the dark mark on his arm. The majority of them were terrified of him. Draco constantly tried to hide it.

"Hermione."

"What!?" Hermione yelled.

"You have something of mine. I'd like it back."

The attention of almost every student was now on them. Hermione was tired of trying to be okay so she had chosen to be angry. Draco had decided that he didn't care for his reputation anymore. He wasn't an evil person, and sure he had fallen on the wrong side of approval. He was going to accept it.

"Just leave me alone please." Hermione sighed.

"You still have something of mine."

"What is it Malfoy? Just tell me so I can give it back and you can leave me alone."

"It's not that simple Hermione." Draco shrugged and walked closer. "You can't simply give it back."

"What?" Hermione frowned.

"You have my heart Hermione Granger. No matter what you say or do you can't simply give it back to me. At least not whole." Draco shrugged again.

"You're being ridiculous Malfoy."

"No. I'm being honest. I'm in love with you and the only way I'm going to stop trying to win you over is if you tell me right now that you don't love me."

"I don't." Hermione mumbled and looked down.

"I can't hear you." Draco stopped in front of her.

"You broke my heart Draco Malfoy. What reason would I have to still love you." Hermione frowned.

Draco shook his head. "You took Ron's word for what it was and didn't even listen to my side. You're the one who actually broke my heart. I thought you knew me better than that. I thought you trusted me more."

Hermione glared up at Draco. "What's your side of it then?"

Draco shrugged. "I'm in love with you. As I said, you have my heart. Why would I risk my own happiness by hurting you?"

"That doesn't answer my question."

"Hermione why are you even listening to this Death Eater puppet?" Ron said behind her.

"Draco, answer my question."

"I told Ron that he missed his chance. That there was no way I was giving you up. He said that he would make you hate me again. The next thing I knew he was on the floor in front of me and yelling at me. I never touched him. I looked up and saw you running towards us. That's what happened."

Hermione frowned at Ron and then turned back to Draco. "What were you saying that I had of yours again?"

"My heart. You have my heart Hermione and honestly. I don't actually want it back. I want a replacement."

Hermione smiled. "Well. You've been holding onto mine since the moment you kissed me. Is that replacement enough?"

Draco nodded his head and pulled Hermione into a kiss. Hermione didn't resist. She didn't feel the need to even push him away. Both of them had forgotten about the crowd and honestly both of them would have preferred it staying that way.

"He's a bladdy Death Eater! He's the enemy!" Ron yelled.

Hermione broke the kiss spinning around still held in Draco's arms. She glared at Ron for a moment and then glared at everyone else. Draco dropped his head onto her shoulder and sighed. He was ready to let go of her at any second although he really didn't want to.

"Being branded as something when you've had no choice doesn't make you a bad person. I'd like to see any of you defy your parents. Especially you Ronald since you seem to be acting as an even worse asshole than Draco." Hermione yelled.

Draco was definitely surprised. He tried his best to hide his smile as Hermione grabbed his hand. She stormed off, dragging Draco behind her. The crowd dissipated as she walked through it. No one wanted to get in her way.

Soon the only people in the hall were Hermione and Draco. She stopped and turned towards Draco. A frown very evident on her face. Draco bit his lip trying to hide his smile.

"What was it you said to me? If you were going any slower, you'd be what?" Hermione raised an eyebrow.

Draco burst out laughing unable to hold it back. He stepped forward and kissed Hermione again before picking her up and walking off. She didn't need to tell him where to go. They had a special spot for just the two of them.

Their spot was the astronomy tower. It was theirs from the moment Draco had taken Hermione there. From the moment Draco had told her how he felt. From the moment Draco had kissed her. Every special moment they shared. Every kiss, every laugh, and every smile had all started right there.
