*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I was so annoyed. My father had promised me. He promised me that I wouldn't be scrutinized. He promised that I wouldn't go there. Then he tells me that I had no choice.
"Samantha. I will not say it again." He said with his usually bored tone.
"But father..."
"I understand your deposition about this, but Draco cannot get through this on his own."
That was another thing. I knew so much about the people around me and they didn't know anything about me. I was not supposed to have existed. I was a pure mistake. Father had gotten himself into a depressed frenzy when the Potter's died. He had lived his life on auto pilot for a whole year. In that time I was made. My mother was a Half Blood, but her family wanted nothing to do with me. So father raised me, but I was always his best kept secret.
"Father Draco doesn't even know I exist." I groaned.
"I am well aware of that Samantha. I am also well aware that exposing the world to you will be dangerous." Father said.
"Isn't it the other way around father?" I smirked.
"Don't play coy with me Samantha. Now take this and go buy your supplies. I have a meeting to attend." He handed me a bag of gallons.
"Eaters or Phoenix?" I asked.
"Eaters. Now will you please leave."
I nodded my head and walked away. I was somewhat annoyed because I was... happy? I mean I would be going to the same school my father works at. That's something I've always wanted. Father had sent me off to Ilvermorny so that I wouldn't be given too much attention.
Don't get it wrong he wasn't embarrassed of me. He wanted to protect me. After all attending the same school as a Potter wasn't fun for father. Besides he knew all the dangers that old fool let get into the school. Father didn't want to have to worry about me and I was more than happy to stay in the shadows.
But now things had changed. Voldy was back and father wasn't going to be able to keep me a secret much longer. Old Voldy had been planning to make Draco a Death Eater, but father had managed to swaide him from that. Now it was Old Dumbs who was after Draco. So now I had to step in to keep Draco from being persuaded.
I sighed as I walked through Diagon Alley. I wasn't a slow shopper. I always went for what I wanted and got out. I guess you could say that is because father isn't a very patient man. Now, however, I had nothing to do.
"Ammm excuse me. You look kind of lost. Do you need any help?"
I turned around to see two boys and a girl. I raised an eyebrow at them slightly frowning. I wasn't happy he interrupted my thoughts. On the other hand I suppose I needed a distraction.
"And you are who exactly?" I asked.
They all looked at me shocked. Then they looked at each other and back to me.
"I'm Harry Potter. That's Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley."
I nodded my head hardly impressed. Somehow, that seemed to shock them even more. I brushed it off, yawning from my boredom.
*~*~*~*~*
"Now that I have everyone's attention I would like to inform you that there is a new student. We will be sorting her into a house after the first years."
After that lame attempt at a speech I waited for all the first years to be seated before pushing open both doors to the Hall with as much force as I could. There was a bang and all eyes turned to me. I dusted down my robes and all but marched to the front with an air of grace. I was my father's child after all. All Snape's have to have over the top dramatic entrances.
I caught my father's smirk before it disappeared. He stood up just as the Professor in the front, McGonagall I believe, was calling my name.
"Samantha Aurelia." Father said stopping short at our surname. "Come now we don't have all day."
I rolled my eyes and sat down.
"Ahhh!" The hat cried out as it touched my head. "I see many things. Yes many many things. Things that are yet to find their places. Well then I know... RAVENCLAW!"
I looked at father and he didn't seem too upset. He removed the hat from my head with a slight nod. I got up and walked over to the table as everyone there cheered for me.
*~*~*~*~*
It had been a pleasant month and three days. Still no one knew who I really was. Well no one other than this strange girl in my house and my father. I was getting tired of all this round about stuff, but I knew father had a plan. Otherwise he wouldn't have interrupted Professor McGonagall and everyone would have known the truth.
"Hey Samantha! Wait up!"
I turned around to see Harry running up to me. We had talked like twice. Not far behind Harry were Hermione and Ronald. I didn't move and just waited for them.
"Thanks for waiting." Harry said. "I really wanted to talk to you. About potions class that is."
I physically cringed at the thought. We had just gone over the Amortentia potion. The most powerful love potion in the world, and I was the one stuck with describing how it smelled.
"What about it?" I asked.
"Well you said you smelt wood and..."
"Harry Potter whatever I smelt has nothing to do with you. Even if you do fly a broomstick made of wood don't get any ideas." I said cutting him off.
Not in the mood to have such a discussion with him or anyone I walked away quickly. I faintly heard Hermione saying "I told you so."
What I had smelt in the Cauldron was; Wood, Lemon, and ink. But it wasn't just any type of wood, it was burning fire wood. Besides I know what each of those smells mean to me. Fire wood is from the fireplace at home. Father had some plant infused with it so it always smelt brilliant and relaxed your body. The Lemon was from the smell of freshly brewed Tea in the process of becoming Ice Tea. Lastly, the smell of ink was exactly that, ink.
I walked up to the Astronomy tower not really in the mood for my next class. Father wouldn't mind anyway. He knows my capabilities and work ethic. I sat down with my feet hanging over the edge.
"Watch out or someone might push you."
My head snapped back. Draco was standing by the top of the steps. I felt stupid for not hearing him walk up. I sighed and shook my hand.
"What's the matter?" Draco asked.
"Nothing just got a lot on my mind I guess." I sighed.
Draco shrugged. "Share yours. I'll share mine."
I thought it over for a second. "Well my father is planning something and for the first time I don't know what it is. I'm worried you know."
Draco nodded. "My father is being threatened. If I don't agree to do something then someone is going to kill him."
That's right I completely skipped over that part. Draco and I had been meeting at the Astronomy tower ever so often just to talk. At first he was near impossible to talk to. Now we freely had conversations like this.
"You know you don't have to speak in code." I teased.
"Tell me who your father is and I'll stop." Draco said sticking out his tongue.
I laughed. "I can't do that Dray. I'm sorry."
Draco shrugged smiling. "Saw you talking with Potter..."
"Oh bother, please don't." I groaned not wanting to remember.
Draco laughed, but ultimately agreed to drop it. I was feeling tired and I wasn't exactly thinking. I shifted and laid my head on Draco's shoulder gently. Draco stiffened for a moment and then he moved. I was about to pull away when his arm snaked around me.
"Here this will be more comfortable." He said as he pulled me a bit closer and laid back.
He was right. It was better, more comfortable. I fell asleep not long after we settled. As I thought about my Amortentia and the fourth smell I didn't mention out loud. The fourth one was Draco's cologne and there was no way I was going to admit that to the class.
*~*(Meanwhile in Snape's classroom)*~*
"Alright everyone. Let's test your knowledge of the Dark Arts." Snape waved his wand.
Parchment fell on everyone's desks. Hermione shot her hand up in the air. Snape groaned when he noticed the girl trying to basically stretch herself out.
"What is it Miss Granger?" Snape drawled.
"Professor Samantha isn't in class. Shouldn't someone go find her?" Hermione queried.
"No. M... Miss S... Samantha will be fine. Now carry on in silence." Snape deadpanned.
He almost slipped up. He had never had to address his daughter in class before. Now when Hermione mentioned her he had almost said "My daughter" and "Miss Snape". He groaned as he sat behind his desk.
"Samantha you better have a damn good explanation." Snape thought to himself.
*~*(Back to OC)*~*
"Hey Sam. Samantha, love wake up. We have to go." Draco said softly.
I yawned and then blinked. "Wait did he just call me Love?!" I looked up at him to find him smiling. Then it all came back to me. My eyes went wide and I blushed. I sat up and looked down.
"I'm sorry. Did I drool a lot?" I asked softly.
"It's okay Sam. No you didn't actually. But we have to go it's almost dinner time." Draco said as he stood.
He offered me his hand. I took it and stood up with a smile. We stood there for a moment and I quickly stepped away realizing how close we were. We left together and as I was walking through the corridor I realized something was off. I was still waking up, so to speak, so my attention to everything was a bit slow.
"Oh I'm sorry. Here." I quickly said handing Draco back his jacket.
Draco laughed. "You're so cute when you're embarrassed. Thanks but you can keep it."
I huffed. "I don't need it."
I shoved his jacket at him and marched off while he still laughed. I walked into the Hall and went to sit down. Draco walked in a little while later. I was about to eat when the Hall stirred in whispers all around. The Ravenclaw's were strangely silent and staring towards me. A hand tapped my shoulder and I hung my head back.
"A word." Father said and walked out.
With a grunt I stood up and followed him. The Hall was going crazy by the time I got to the door. I walked out to find father standing around the corner.
"And where were you during my class?"
I shrugged. "I fell asleep. Running around at night looking for stuff does take a toll father."
He squinted at me. "And who was with you when you fell asleep?"
I blushed a bit. "I amm... I fell asleep on Draco's shoulder. He woke me up."
Father smiled a bit. "You like him don't you?"
It was more of a statement. I felt somewhat attacked at father's teasing.
"So what if I do." I huffed.
"Samantha there's no need to get defensive. I was only joking." Father chuckled. "We must be ready by next week Samantha so try to stay focused."
"Why won't you tell me the plan." I frowned.
"Sam. It's best for now if you don't know." Father said.
"Whatever." I huffed out and stormed off.
I stormed into the Hall and resumed my previous seat. Everyone was staring at me as I went along. Father walked in after me looking just as angry. He stared at me then glared at Draco.
"Samantha this conversation is not over." Father said as he walked past me.
The Hall up roared in whispers and gossip. I ate for a few minutes before there was another hand on my shoulder. I glared at the hand then looked at the person.
"Don't worry to much about him. He only cares about the Slytherins." Harry said.
"Whatever." I grunted.
*~*~*~*~*
After that misunderstanding in the Hall Harry had insisted on helping me deal with father. I found it somewhat amusing, but didn't say anything. Hermione eventually told me that Harry liked me as more than a friend. He was sweet and all, but he wasn't my type. Tomorrow was the last day before my father's mysterious plan was in full force. Now I was just sitting outside on the grounds enjoying the weather.
"Hey Sam. I was looking for you." I looked up to see Harry. "I was wondering if you would... You know be my date to Slughorn's dinner party."
I had been dreading this. I sighed and laid back down. I didn't want to hurt his feelings or anything, but it seemed that now it couldn't be helped.
"Sorry Harry. I can't go with you I already have a date." I said.
"What!? Who?" Harry asked.
"Who doesn't matter Harry. I don't like you that way. You are nothing more than a friend." I closed my eyes as I said that.
I heard Harry shuffling and a grunt before he was gone. I sighed finally relieved that was over. I stayed on the grass longer just laying there with my eyes closed.
"Not sleeping again are you?"
I opened an eye to see who it was. "Oh hey Draco. No I'm not sleeping just relaxing."
Draco sat down next to me. "Well it's always good to get some down time."
"Hey Draco. Would you like to attend a dinner party with me?" I asked.
"I thought you'd never ask." Draco teased. "Truthfully I would like that."
I smiled a bit. "Dress smart."
Draco faked being hurt. "But don't I always."
"Goof."
"Nerd."
"Snake."
"Raven."
I started laughing. Over the last month and a while my relationship with Draco had grown steadily fast. I had hoped that Draco liked me back. My relationship with Harry had been stagnated. He wanted more and I wasn't interested.
The day had gone by rather well. Besides some mishaps with Harry there wasn't too much drama. I went to get ready for Slughorn's party after my last class. Draco said he would come by the Ravenclaw house to "pick me up" and I couldn't say I wasn't happy about it.
That's when everything went overboard. I walked out of the common room to find Draco wasn't there. My heart dropped as I walked towards the place the party was. Then I found out why he wasn't there. Harry was blocking off his path and yelling at him.
I walked over to Hermione and whispered. "What is going on?"
Hermione looked at me with a sad expression. "Harry is upset about Draco being invited to the dinner party."
"So Draco didn't say who invited him?" For some reason that made me upset. I shook off the feeling and just stood there.
"Potter will you move. My date is probably waiting for me." Draco groaned.
"Stop lying Malfoy! No one would ask you to join them for anything." Harry spat back. "Just go back to your snake pit. You're not welcome here."
I sighed and Draco looked at me. He grinned at me now ignoring Harry. Harry had stopped yelling and turned around to see me standing next to Hermione.
"Sam you look absolutely stunning. So sorry I wasn't there like I said I would. Had I known I would be stopped I would have come earlier." Draco said stepping around Harry.
"It's okay I thought you changed your mind about joining me." I responded.
"Malfoy!? Malfoy is the one you turned my offer down for?" Harry asked, his eyes wide.
"I told you Harry I that I already had a date when you asked. Also, I don't see you as anything more than a friend." I said frowning.
"Shall we love?" Draco asked offering me his arm.
"There it was again. He called me love." I thought frantically. I kept my cool and looped my arm with his, nodding as we walked away.
*~*~*~*~*
"Samantha!" The Hall went dead silent.
It was lunch time and also the time for father's plan to be completed, sealed and delivered. After the party the night before he explained the whole thing to me. It was a solid plan and during Christmas I wouldn't have to hold back my magic. Come second semester the war would be over before it started.
"Come here will you." Father instructed from the Professor's table.
I stood up and walked over. Murmurs erupted as I walked towards father. I stopped in front of him as he stood up. He fished out some sweets from his pocket and handed them to me. Then he pulled out a small gift.
"Happy birthday dear." Father said.
I grinned at him. "Thank you father! I thought you forgot."
"Forget my own daughter's birthday. Don't be daft! I just hadn't gotten you a present until just now." Father said slightly smirking.
"Father you know I was only joking." I laughed. "Can I be excused to put this away?"
He nodded and I basically skipped out of the Hall.
*~*(Inside the Hall)*~*
"That makes so much sense." Hermione exclaimed. "I had been wondering why he hasn't bothered punishing her with detention or less house points."
Ron had actually stopped stuffing his face and just stared at the door and then at Harry. Harry groaned and then thought of something. He frowned and spun in his seat.
"You snake!" He growled at Draco. "You knew who she was all along!"
"She... Sev... Whoa!" Draco stammered.
"Dude you have a thing for your godfather's daughter." Blaise laughed.
Pansy grunted. "Agh! Shut up Potter can't you see he's just as surprised as you."
Draco blinked a few times. "Wait Uncle Sev how come you never told me?"
Snape rolled his eyes. "On with lunch I will not be lenient with any late comers."
With that he left the Hall in chaos. Outside he smiled at how things had gone. Now Dumbledore would have a new target, but with such little time left in the term he wouldn't be able to do much. That would force him to try to do something over Christmas break.
*~*(Back to OC)*~*
I left the sweets in my dorm room and left with the small gift still in my hand. I was curious as to what it was he had gotten me. I wasn't paying much attention to anything and I didn't want to get hounded with questions so I decided to skip class again. Thankfully it was father's class and he would understand. I was walking towards the Astronomy tower when I crashed into someone.
"Damn! Sorry." I said.
"It's okay love I was looking for you." I looked up and saw Draco smiling.
"Oh amm hi." I blushed.
I noticed someone lurking in the shadows behind Draco but brushed it off. Maybe they weren't lurking and just passing by. I opened the present in my hands and basically squeaked.
(The Present👇)
Draco smiled at me and pulled the necklace from the box. He untangled the string and unclipped the back part.
"Here. Let me put it on for you." He offered.
I nodded my head and turned around moving my hair out of the way. He clipped the necklace and let it drop. His hand rested on my shoulder for a bit. I slowly turned around to find Draco staring at me with a slight frown.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
He pulled the bracelet out and took my arm in his hand. He didn't say anything and avoided looking into my eyes. My heart sped up. "Does he not like me now that he knows who my father is?" I thought frantically. I pulled my arm away and stepped back. Draco looked at me, a mix of emotion on his face.
"It's fine you don't have to pretend you like me." I said looking down.
"Sam. It's not..." Draco started.
I sighed and was about to walk away when Draco grabbed my arm. He pulled me towards him and his other hand wrapped around the back of my neck and... "He kissed me! He's actually kissing me!" My mind spun around. I kissed him back after a few seconds. My arms snaked around his torso as he pulled me closer. After what felt like forever we pulled apart for air.
"I thought you would slap me." Draco chuckled.
"Why?" I asked.
"You didn't react when I called you love." He shrugged moving some of my hair from my face.
"I didn't know you meant it like that."
"Sam will you be mine? Be my girlfriend please." Draco said.
Before I could answer there was another who beat me too it. We both jumped apart at the intrusion and I couldn't help the smile on my face.
"If you do anything to hurt my daughter Draco I will not be bothered by the fact that you are my godson." My father deadpanned.
"Understood Sev." Draco nodded.
"You two should be in class not wondering the corridors." Father added.
"I have a free period Sev." Draco said scratching his neck.
"I didn't think you would mind father. We caused such a racket in the Hall." I said.
Father shook his head and walked away. When he was gone Draco turned to me. He smiled and kissed my forehead.
"So Sam... Can I call you love in public?"
"Yes Draco. I am your girlfriend now am I not." I smirked.
*~*~*~*~*
"Hey Sam! I see you've been spending a lot more time with Malfoy. Has he brainwashed you or something?" I turned to look at Harry.
Harry had ignored me for two weeks since that day. He switched places with Hermione in classes and kept his distance. This was the first time he had spoken to me so what he said really annoyed me.
"Not that it's your business Harry." I said.
"Hey look I know I've been an ass but come on you make friends with Malfoy?" Harry said.
"He's not my friend Harry." I responded.
"But Sam you have been spending a lot of time with him." Hermione said.
"I thought you were supposed to be the smart one Granger." Draco said.
He had been in the air above us on his broom. I tried not to laugh because I'm sure Harry thought I was alone. The look of surprise on their faces was to die for. Draco sped of and circled around so that he was somewhat next to me.
"You didn't have to stop you know." I rolled my eyes.
"But I had to love. This was too interesting to pass up." Draco grinned.
"I thought you said you weren't friends. Looks very friendly to me." Ron groaned.
Draco shook his head and hopped off his broom. He dropped it on the ground and walked the two steps over to me. His arm wrapped around my waist and he pulled me against him. Then he kissed me. Instinctively my arms wrapped around his neck and I kissed back.
"Not friends Weaslebee. She's my girlfriend." Draco said once we pulled apart.
"My father is going to hear about this you know. We're not exactly alone." I complained.
"Stop worrying your pretty little head so much love. Sev basically gave me his blessing remember." Draco said kissing my forehead.
Harry growled. "Stop messing around Malfoy."
Draco rolled his eyes. "Stop being jealous Potter. Sam is mine. If you think I'm losing her to the likes of you then you're crazy."
"Just you wait and see Malfoy." Harry walked off.
"Hey love join me in the air." Draco grinned.
"You know I hate flying Draco." I pouted.
"Just trust me will you." Draco smiled pulling me away.
