Since you first met Sirius Black, there wasn't anything about him that made you consider him as boyfriend material. He was immature and annoying in every sense but now that you were entering your sixth year, he had become oddly charming. Although he made you hate everything about him almost every day, he had begun to go out of his way to be a decent human being and he was able to make you smile, which you strongly appreciated.

After a few months of him being kind and sweet, you would have still claimed to hate him, but when he asked you out on a date, you agreed. It shocked him as much as it shocked you when you said yes. The date wasn't much, just going to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer and walking around Hogsmeade. Just spending time with him brought a smile to your face and the more you spoke with him, the more you were falling hopelessly in love with him.

When he asked you to be his girlfriend, you agreed of course, more than excited to be his girlfriend. It was a sought-after role, although cocky and immature at times, you could have never denied how attractive he was, nor could any of the other girls at Hogwarts. You didn't care about what he looked like though, you just cared about the person that you had found underneath his childish exterior.

Six months after you agreed to date him, you felt like a different person. Having someone who made you smile uncontrollably every single day, made life seem easier. Although it wasn't a long relationship, you had grown so close over the past months and you didn't doubt how much you cared for him.

It was a Saturday and you were meant to meet him at his dormitory at midday but were running a little ahead of schedule so made your way up there early. The door was open a crack and before you could knock and open the door, you heard your name from inside the room and paused.

"So, how's things with Y/N?" James asked.

"They're going well, we're going to walk around the lake this afternoon," Sirius responded.

"Why bother?" James laughed. "You only had to ask her out on a date."

You heard Sirius let out a sigh. "We had a good time."

"You can break up with her now. The bet was just to get her to say yes to a date with you. I didn't think you'd be trying to get in her pants this quickly mate."

You felt your heart shatter. You had always questioned why he changed his behaviour, why he chose you, but had done your best to ignore the doubt that you felt. It turned out that you had every reason to doubt him, you were nothing more than a bet. You didn't know why he decided to play with your heart after the fact though.

Pushing the door open, you decided to bite the bullet, and get in before he could.

"Let me save you the trouble Sirius. You won your little bet and now we're over," you hissed, quickly turning on your heel, not wanting him to see the tears that were falling down your face.

You heard him call out your name and ask you to stop but you didn't. You just continued off until you got to your dormitory.
