Salazar Slytherin- Basilisk (c)

Building and preparing a school was far harder work than any of you had anticipated. No one particularly shared the same interests in what they would consider necessary for the school, but the castle was almost complete, it was simply the interior that was now to be completed. Everyone was doing their own thing, so you sought out Salazar whom you were rather close with to see what he was up to.

He was in his study, a scroll of parchment rolled out before him as his quill scratched ink onto the page. You approached him, looking at what he was doing. There was a map being sketched along with a detailed plan of what seemed like a snake themed dungeon with the darkest of interiors that seemed to be a common theme with anything Salazar was planning.

"What is that?" You questioned, not sure what type of room it was meant to be, or why it was necessary for there to be one in a school.

"I call it the Chamber of Secrets," he stated, looking up at you with a proud smile.

"What is it for?" You asked, looking through the different sketches and annotations.

"It is to be a home for a creature of darkness, a creature I only may communicate with and will be able to make sure everyone is protected."

Salazar and Godric had issues with seeing this as simply a school rather they seemed to see it as a base for a war, a place where defences were necessary, defences that were likely to create more danger than to help anyone.

"A basilisk?" You questioned seeing mentions to the mythic creature, "I did not believe that to be more than myth."

He let out a chuckle, shaking his head as though you knew nothing.

"Oh, dear Y/N, how naïve," he smirked. "I have one to be here soon, one that I will take great pride in and will protect us all. And it is also to be here for safety, safety if my students are to not be given the upmost best."

"Your students shall not be more than anyone else's. The only reason we take different students is for ease to them. To allow them people of like minds to spend time with, not for us to form a competition. We are to be their mentors not their generals," you frowned.

You did not want to be the leader of a war. You wished to teach students and that's why you wanted to form a school for those students who had special abilities like yourself, you did not wish for you to prepare them to overthrow those who didn't.

"I have questioned whether I should stay. I do believe I would be better off elsewhere. However, would you leave with me?" He asked.

Your head shook solemnly.

"I could not leave Hogwarts. This school is more important than any of us. We are to inspire future generations, and I shall not run off from that."
