After everything that happened, all you could wish to do was curl up on the sofa and wish the world away. Two of your closest friends Lily and James had been killed and there was nothing you could have done to stop them. From what Remus had told you, Sirius had betrayed them and then went on to kill Peter and many muggles. It seemed impossible. Sirius and James were brothers, maybe not by blood, but you'd never seen a bond as strong.

You were lost in your thoughts, you almost didn't hear the knock on the door. Going to open it, there was a face you never expected to see. There stood Sirius Black.

"What are you doing here?" You barely croaked.

His hair was askew, and his eyes were puffy and tear filled.

"You... please help me," He whispered, "I... I didn't do it. I would never betray them. I'd never kill them."

Looking around the street, you grabbed onto the lapel of his jacket, pulling him into your home, closing and locking the door behind him.

"Why didn't you go to Remus?" You asked.

"He believes I did it. He thinks I betrayed James and Lily. Why would I do that? I loved them. I understand why he believes it. It looks like I did. But you need to believe me Y/N, I'm innocent," He pleaded.

"Calm down Sirius. I believe you. But who would frame you?"

"I don't know. But they are the reason they are all dead. James, Lily, Peter and all the others."

You calmed him down, cleaning up his tears and trying to figure out a plan. You had no idea how. How would you prove his innocence? It was a compelling argument to blame Sirius for the crime, it seemed so likely.

Without a plan, or any idea of what to do, Sirius simply asked you if he could stay with you for a while, to lay low and not be found. You said yes.

It'd been two weeks since Sirius had moved in with you. You had both been following the news, and it didn't look good for either of you if you were found with him in your home.

You threw the newspaper onto the table after reading another article of what was planned to be done to the fugitive Sirius Black, and anyone helping him.

"I can't believe you talked me into this," You sighed running your hands through your hair, looking down at the table.

"Are you having second thoughts?" He asked looking concerned.

"Yes," You exclaimed, "We're dead if they find you here. And I'm scared that may no longer be just a figure of speech."

"I can leave if you want me to. I don't want you to be arrested or worse, due to helping me. Thank you for what you have done for me," He said standing from the table.

"No. You can't leave. Yes I regret letting you in for the fear of my safety now but nevertheless, I wouldn't change what I did. I can't lose you too. You are an innocent man, and I shall do anything in my power to keep you safe and prove your innocence."

He smiled in return, reaching a hand across the table to take your hand in his.

"I am eternally grateful to you Y/N/N. Thank you for doing this for me, and I will never forget all you have done for me. But no if at any point you want to be rid of me, just say, I will go and you will no longer have to worry about you being blamed for hiding a fugitive."

"Believe me, you are more likely to want to have me out of this house. You are going to have to start doing chores. I have to work to pay for this place, so you keep it in check," You smiled innocently.

Instantly his smile dropped.
