Ron Weasley- Date (c)
When Ron had asked you out on a date you had assumed that the twins had made a bet with him, and it was all a joke. But from the genuine shock on their and everyone else's faces you were sure that Ron was sincere.
You had been staying with the Weasley's over the summer at Ron's request, seen as you had been friends since first year along with Hermione and Harry. You never thought anything more would ever come from your friendship, if anything you thought that he liked Hermione, so you'd always done your best to hide what you assumed was your unrequited feelings.
As soon as you said a hesitant 'yes', you were pretty sure he was going to pass out. But after a couple of days of incessant teasing from his siblings and your friends, along with him practically avoiding you, it was the day of the date.
Hermione helped you get ready, she said it was just because she wanted to be nice, but you were pretty sure she knew more than she was letting on about the date. You met Ron in the doorway, saying goodbye to his family and heading out to the date.
No matter how much you questioned where you were going, he just continued to lead you aimlessly to an unknown destination.
Finally you arrived at a seaside town, which you hadn't been to before, making your way to an isolated part of the beach were a blanket already lay on the sand and pebbles with a wicker basket placed on top.
Ron's fingers laced with yours leading you over to the blanket, sitting down next to each other. He opened up the basket to reveal numerous amounts of food that you had become familiar with, having stayed with the Weasley's for some time.
"A picnic on the beach?" You questioned, your voice unsteady, nervous to be on a date with your best friend.
"Do... do you like it?" He said with a lopsided smile.
You smiled at him, squeezing his hand slightly.
"Of course I do. I just never pegged you as romantic," you shrugged slightly.
He bit his lower lip, uncertain as what to say to your remark.
"Well Hermione helped. And Mum helped with the food. Fred and George offered to help too, but I thought you'd appreciate no magic being involved. And who knows what those two would have done to embarrass me," he stated.
A soft laugh escaped your lips. You truly appreciated that he did his best to not use magic around you unless you were in school of course. You had previously commented on his reliance on magic, and being a muggleborn witch yourself, you preferred to use muggle means in any way possible, not that you hated magic. It did bewilder you as to why he began to change his ways and do things non-magically, but you were pretty sure that you knew why now.
"So you didn't use magic?" You questioned.
"Yeah. I don't know if Mum did when she made the food. But I thought you might want to live to tell the tale of today, whether that is a happy or traumatic tale I don't know yet. If I made the food, you'd be in hospital instantly. I hope you don't mind," he said still seeming unsure.
"It's fine. I'm just happy that you invited me, so thank you. And thank you for not using magic. I'm still not quite used to your world, I'm trying but it's so different, it's nice to stick with the things I know sometimes," you shrugged.
The two of you began to tuck into the picnic he had left on the blanket. As you continued to eat Ron broke the silence once again.
"Why did you say yes to the date?" He asked quietly.
You looked up at him with a soft smile, "I thought that it was obvious. I like you."
"You actually like me?"
You let out a sigh. Did he really think that you'd go on a date with him if you didn't like him?
"Ronald Weasley, you are so oblivious. Of course I like you, you fool," you said leaning in to kiss his cheek, instantly seeing his cheeks become red and you were sure yours were a matching colour.
