The saying of 'opposites attract' worked perfectly for your best friend and yourself. It was as though you were from two different worlds, from opposite ends of the spectrum, but you wouldn't change that for the world. No one understood how the two of you were friends, it seemed like the most impossible of friendships.

Regulus was from one of the most noble pure-blooded families known to the wizarding world, a Slytherin like all those before him. Although he was far more pleasant than his family, minus his brother and one of his cousins, he still had the dark hair and gloomy expression that his family was known for. He seemed rather unpleasant due to the constant grimace that he held, but no one knew how kind and considerate he could be. You on the other hand were nothing alike. You were from a muggleborn family, one of little money and of kind hearts. You were known for the bright and eccentric colours you wore along with the beaming smile that was always on your face. You were a Hufflepuff not that it made much of a difference to people, you were rather stereotypical as was your best friend for his house. Even you were confused how the two of you had become friends not that you would change it for the world.

The two of you were sat in Hogsmeade on one of your trips. The two of you had grabbed a drink and sat at a bench together. It was like chalk and cheese, you were fair haired and brightly dressed whilst Regulus had dark hair and clothing to match. Although you knew emotions were far from something Regulus was familiar with, it did bring you sorrow to see him without a smile.

"Reg?" You smiled softly at him. He looked up from his drink, to cock an eyebrow at you.

"Yeah."

"Why don't you smile?" You questioned.

He shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't need to."

You were confused. Everyone needed to smile, there was always room to try and find happiness.

"What do you mean? There's always a need for more smiling faces."

He shook his head, "you smile enough for the both of us."

You furrowed your eyebrows at him.

"Well if that is the case, you certainly brood enough for the both of us."

Regulus rolled his eyes unable to argue as he knew it was true.
