You groaned as you rested your head against your boyfriends shoulder. He shivered from the ice pack that was pressed between your cheek and his shoulder attempting to numb the pain going through your mouth. Sirius kissed the top of your head, wrapping his arm around you to hold you closer to him.

The car journey was bumpy and cramped. Lily was the only one with a car so she was the one driving everyone to the dentist. It was an old car and the back seat was not made for three people, especially one of them being of Remus' height. You were squashed between Remus and Sirius, whilst Lily drove and James sat in the passenger seat.

As the car went over a speed bump you let out a cry of pain, causing Sirius' grip on you to tighten in a protective manner.

"I'm sorry Y/N," Lily said slowing the car slightly.

"This is all your fault," you exclaimed in a muffled tone due to the cotton wool stuffed in your mouth, meaning it didn't sound quite like the words you meant but you were certain they got the gist.

"I know. I'm sorry Y/N/N. I'm taking you to the dentist aren't I? I'll buy you tea or I'll get you a kitten. Whatever makes you forgive me," Lily said frantically trying to focus on the road.

"Thanks Lil, now we're going to have a bloody cat," Sirius sighed rolling his eyes.

You attempted to grin at your boyfriend but your mouth hurt too much.

"Well this is an interesting Christmas," James sighed leaning against the window.

"Why the fudge are you all here?" You groaned, once again slightly uncoherent.

"Better than being left with that stuffing," Remus remarked gaining a glare from Lily.

It was the first Christmas since you guys had left Hogwarts. Lily offered to have you all over to her and James' new place for Christmas dinner and she was going to cook for you. You would have offered her and James to come to your place, however you were living with Sirius and Remus and it was a mess. When you planned where you were to live after school you weren't in a relationship with Sirius, but when you started dating you still insisted that Remus could live with the two of you feeling bad if you forced him to live on his own.

The concept of Christmas with James and Lily sounded fun. You opened presents, had a laugh, but it was 5pm and the five of you were on your way to visit and emergency dentist. No one saw fit to check Lily's ability to cook before they agreed to her making the food. Everything was burnt or uncooked (as for the Yorkshire puddings the top was burnt and the bottom was raw), but the rest of you want to be polite and put up with what was seemingly cruel and unusual torture.

It was all going well at first. You faked smiles, suffered the horrific taste and made Lily happy. But with a mouthful of blackened stuffing and a loud crunch you were crying out in pain. You practically shattered your tooth on the unnaturally hard food leaving you in your current situation.

"How about next year we celebrate at your guys' gaff?" James laughed.

"Nah," Sirius stated. "Y/N/N might poison Lily's food."

He lightly squeezed your arm softly, kissing your forehead.

"Don't tempt me," you frowned.

"I'm sorry," Lily cried out.

You attempted to laugh but once again you succumbed to the pain.

"It's okay," you said in a near whisper. "But you're buying me a kitten."

Sirius groaned. "We don't need a kitten. Lily do not buy her a kitten. If you buy her a kitten, Prongs moves in as well. I need some sanity with those two drooling over a fur ball."

"I wouldn't drool over a kitten," Remus stated. "But kittens are cute."

"Sirius, I am willing to make that sacrifice," Lily smiled into the rear view mirror to look at your boyfriend.

"Hey," James exclaimed.
