Marauders- Baby: Part 2 (c)

You were taken back by the question. It wasn't as though you hadn't considered children, of course you had, but you were only dating, and it had never came up in conversation. You didn't know what Remus thought about or whether he would ever want children.

Before you could even think straight, you stood up, taking a step away from your boyfriend. You attempted to smile, but it didn't work really, it was clear Lily knew it was fake- she was your best friend after all.

"I'm going to make us all tea. Yes. We could all use tea," you muttered scurrying into the kitchen.

You turned on the kettle, letting out a sigh, unsure as to what you were supposed to do. Why would Remus ever want kids? Why would he ever want kids with you? That was the more pressing question.

Your hand rested on the kitchen counter as you attempted to get your thoughts straight. Did you actually want children? You'd always assumed you'd get married and have kids but was that something you actually wanted or were just convinced you wanted? If Remus didn't want kids would you be okay with that? If Remus did want kids, were you okay with that?

A hand falling on top of yours knocked you out of your thoughts. Looking up Remus smiled down at you warmly, making your heart feel warm just by him being there.

"You okay love?" He asked. "You seemed to be uncomfortable in there."

"Oh... erm... I'm fine," you muttered not quite sure what to say without lying too much.

Remus' eyebrow raised at that, clearly not being sure of your words.

"Are you sure?" He questioned. "We haven't actually talked about kids before."

You froze. You didn't think you'd be having this conversation yet. Thanks a lot Lily.

"Yeah... do you want children?" You asked biting your lower lip.

Remus moved back to rest against the counters on the other side of your galley kitchen. He seemed to contemplate the question, looking towards the light fixing, before back to your face.

"Yes. I've always wanted children, I just don't know if it is practical," he commented.

"What do you mean?"

He hesitated. "I don't know if I can have children, normal children I mean. I don't think I could ever have children, if I knew they would end up like me. That is no life. And I couldn't do that to you either. You deserve a normal life, I don't even know why you put up with me."

A sad smile appeared on your face as you reached your hand out to him, holding onto his, rubbing a thumb over the back of his hand.

"Don't talk like that Remus. I love you, I love all of you, even the werewolf part," you smiled. "You're all I could ever want in the world. There isn't anything I would change. Never think that love. You make me happy, happier than I ever have been."

He returned the weak smile, rubbing his nose.

"But why?" He questioned. "You could have someone that could give you anything in the world. But you pick me?"

Taking a step forward, you reached your other hand up to rest it onto his scarred cheek. You pulled his face towards you so that you could kiss him softly on the lips.

"You're a very silly man Remus Lupin. I don't know how you could be so smart, yet so stupid. How can't you see how perfect you are? I love you, I always have. And yes we are never going to be normal, but normal is boring."

Without a second of hesitation, Remus wrapped his arms around you, pulling you towards him, resting your head onto his chest.

"I'm sorry... I didn't ask. Do you want kids?" He questioned.

Still in his arms you said, "I think so. I'd like to be a mum. But if you are worried about it, we don't have to. We can always adopt. And there isn't any rush. We aren't even engaged. Yes that is a hint."

You could feel his chuckle ripple through him.

"So you want to get married?" He asked.

"Of course I do. I've never been so sure about something before. But now that you don't have any concern about whether I say yes or no, I still want a cheesy proposal," you laughed.

He rested a finger under your chin, lifting your face up so you could look at him.

"Don't worry love. I have something planned," he smiled.

"You have something planned?" You smirked. "Well I have high hopes. Wait... Sirius doesn't have anything to do with your plan right? I love him like a brother but I don't trust him."

He continued to smile down at you. "He doesn't know anything. Granted he should know I am planning to propose to my girlfriend not her."

"I like knowing things."

The kettle clicked, indicating that the water had boiled. Remus let you out of his arms so that you could make the cups of tea. Remus grabbed two which you told him were for the two of you, whilst you grabbed two of the others leaving one.

Walking into the living room, you handed one mug to Sirius.

"Sorry James, I couldn't grab yours. Do you want to go grab it? And why you're at it get the biscuits from the top shelf. Remus put them up there, so I can't reach them," you smiled at the bespectacled man.

He didn't seem too impressed with it, but got up nevertheless. You handed the other mug to Lily, walking over the coffee table, picking up the mug Remus brought in for you. Carrying it to the sofa, you sat down next to Lily again.

As soon as James walked into the room, he looked at you angrily.

"What the hell? You're in my seat," he frowned.

"I know."

"You did it on purpose."

"Of course I did. I spent years putting up with your pranks, I will do anything I can to rile you up."
