Lauren's POV

Fred. He's gone. I cradle my head in my hands, sobbing. He was my best friend, even though he was two years older than me. George sits down beside me and we both cry. And the worst part is? I was there. I could've saved him, but I...I wasn't fast enough.

The battle is over, we won, Voldemort is dead, but it doesn't feel like it. I lost everything, everyone who loved me, except for George. My parents, they're gone. Even...even my siblings are gone.

I watch as people begin the slow process of cleaning up the damage caused by the fight. George leaves me after a while to be with his family.

I am sitting there, alone, when I feel someone settle down beside me. I look over and it's Seamus. The guy that I have lived since first year.

Seamus' POV

I am walking around, helping out in anyway possible, when I see Lauren, crying alone.

I sit down beside her and put my arms around her. "Hey." She sobs in my arms, clutching at me. Having my arms around the girl you love would be cool, but not when she is crying. Not when her best friend just died.

"You two were very close, weren't you?" I say, pulling back and taking her hands. She sniffles and wipes away her tears. "Yeah, we were."

She smiles softly at me. "Thank you. I needed someone right now. Because... I don't have anyone anymore." She bursts into tears.

Lauren's POV

I cry into Seamus' shoulder, gripping him tightly. He just holds me, tears slowly coming to his eyes.

"Hey, Seamus?" I say quietly. "Yeah?" He says, looking at me. "I ... I need you to know something." He stands up and takes my hand. "Why don't we go on a walk, and you can tell me."

Seamus' POV

We walk around, looking at everyone. We see Neville and Luna, sitting by each other and holding hands. We see Hermione and Ron hugging and snogging. We go out to the lake and sit at the edge of the water.

I look at her. Her tears have dried and she looks a bit better than she did. I smile. "So, what was it that you wanted to say?" She blushes and looks down. "There is something that I need to say, something I have needed to say for awhile."

Lauren's POV

I can't even look at him, I am so nervous. "I...I like you." I say, blushing a bright red. He is silent. "I know that this isn't the best time. But...I guess it's ... I just don't want to hide anymore."

He grins at me and takes my hands. "I really like you too. I've liked you since, well since first year really." I grin back at him.

Seamus' POV

I see her smile and I just go for it, leaning in and kissing her. We kiss for a few moments before pulling away for breath.

She smiles with a large smile. We stand up and I kneel down comically. She laughs as I say dramatically, "Lauren, will you be my girlfriend?" She laughs and nods. "Seamus Finnegan, I would love to be your girlfriend!"

Lauren's POV

I clutch Seamus' hand as we walk back to the castle. We sit with Neville and Luna, talking and laughing.

Afterwards, when everyone has calmed down, we go to the dorms. Seamus and I sit on his bed and he starts to talk. "It was on the train. You were sitting with Hermione and Neville. I thought you were the prettiest girl I had ever seen. When you were sorted into Gryffindor with me, I was so happy."

I laugh. "I fell in love with you when you tried to change water into rum. You made the glass spark, and your face was covered with soot. I learned over time your gift for pyrotechnics."

He burst out laughing. "I remember that!!!!" We laugh and talk for hours. That night, I let her sleep by me, her arms wrapped around my waist. I look at her with love. At least...at least one good thing came out of this.
