Evan's POV

So a lot has happened since Christmas. Derek comes over a lot, he loves learning about the magic world. But like me he hates having to wait another year to get our letter. Easter was amazing, I have never gotten so much chocolate. Uncle Remus made sure I didn't pig out though and made it last a couple of weeks. So that I wouldn't get sick.

Harry ended up in the hospital wing and I was allowed to visit him. I left him some chocolate frogs as he slept. I wish he would have woken up when I was there. But he didn't. Gryffindor won the house cup though, which is amazing. Would have been better had they won the quidditch cup also. But at least Slytherin didn't win it, Ravenclaw won it by thirty points.

Summer holidays have started and Derek went on vacation with his family. Which sucked. But I am sure he is having fun. Seeing I was missing my muggle friends Uncle Remus got me a dog. A Jack Russell, that I called him Jimmy after my dad & Harry. I love Jimmy and teaching him new tricks. He is so smart. I spent full moons with Professor Snape at Spinner's End and he does not like Jimmy.

Harry's twelfth birthday came and went. I wish I could of celebrated it with him. I hoped he liked the sweets I sent him. Derek returned and he loves Jimmy. We're teaching him to find people be scent. He is doing good. Anyway, today is August 20th and I was getting the mail from outside. When I see my brother on the front cover. "Uncle Remus!" I yell and race to him.

"Something wrong Evan?" he asks me concerned.

"Harry's in the paper" I state showing it to him.

"Harry Potter sighted with Gilderoy Lockhart at his book signing in Diagon Alley" he reads. "Apparently Lockhart is the new defense teacher this year" he states putting it down.

"Who is Gilderoy Lockhart?" I ask him curious.

"Famous author, who apparently has defeated many dark creatures" he states.

"You don't think he has?" I ask.

"He should have scares and look not a scratch on him" he states. "If he has done any of the things he has written about, I'll eat a hippogriff" he tells me. I chuckle.

"You should apply" I tell him.

"What?" he asks shocked.

"Your amazing at defense against the dark arts and Dumbledore wouldn't care about your furry little problem. Professor Snape could continue to make you the potion every month" I state. He chuckles ruffling my hair.

"You remind me more of your father every day" he states.

"I do? Why?" I ask.

"He used to called it my furry little problem, people thought I had a badly behaved rabbit" he says with a chuckle. Just then Jimmy cam running into the room barking. "I think he needs the loo" he states. I nod my head in agreement grabbing Jimmy's lead.

"I'm gonna take him to the park, can I take the paper?" I ask uncle Remus. He taps it with his wand and the picture freezes. Then hand it to me.

"Only show Derek" he tells me. I nod my head and clip the lead to Jimmy's collar. We then go to the park and Derek was there on the swing. He leapt off of it and ran over. Greeting Jimmy first.

"I have something to show you" I tell him.

"Has Jimmy learnt a new trick?" he asks me.

"No, Harry is in the paper" I tell him handing it to him.

"So this is your famous brother?" he asks looking at the photo. "You two don't look much alike" he states.

"He gets most of his looks from Dad according to Uncle Remus. Only thing he got from mum is her eyes. Where as I am a mix of mum and dad" I tell him.

"What's defense against the dark arts?" he asks me.

"A subject at school, you learn to defend yourself against dark magic and magical creatures" I tell him.

"Oh, what other subjects are there?" he asks me curious.

"Potions, Charms, Transfiguration, History of Magic, Herbology, Flying and Astronomy" I tell them. "Though in third year you get to choose several new classes to take" I add. "They are Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination and Muggle Studies. You only need to pick two" I explain.

"I hate history" he grumbles.

"Apparently it's taught by a ghost" I tell him.

"That may be interesting" he states. We spend the rest of the morning together and I tell him about each subject. Some were pretty straight forward with their description. It was mainly the difference between Charms and other spells used in other subjects. What was Arithmancy, which I didn't know the answer too. Only that it involved maths. Which apparently Derek sucks at. So I doubt either of us would take the subject. Both of us were excited about the idea of flying and I told him about Quidditch.

We then went to our separate homes for lunch. Jimmy slept most of the afternoon. I asked Uncle Remus about Arithmancy and he was able to explain it a bit more to more. "Do you think I'll get to meet Harry before I start school?" I ask him hopeful.

"If Harry ends up in the Hospital Wing again, I promise you can meet him and then you can write to each other before you start school" he tells me. I smile, happy I may get to see Harry. Though I wish it wasn't because he ended up in the hospital wing again. We enjoyed the rest of lunch in silence. Uncle Remus then gave me a lesson on simple defensive spells and their uses.
