Evan's POV

I walk up early today as it's Christmas morning. I ran to the living room in my pjs, to see Uncle Remus already awake. He chuckles when he sees me in my pjs. He hands me a cup of hot chocolate. "Thank you and merry Christmas" I say as I sit in an arm chair.

"Merry Christmas Evan" he says. "Those are for you" he says gesturing to a pile of nearly ten presents. "I'd open Mrs Weasley's first otherwise you may get to cold" he suggests. I nod my head.

"What's for breakfast?" I ask him curious.

"I thought since it is a special occasion I'd make choc-chip pancakes" he states and I cheer. He chuckles. I finish my hot chocolate and start to open my presents. Starting with the one from Mrs Weasley. It was a hand knighted sweater. Dark blue with a golden E, there was a note that said she used the same colours for the one she made Harry. I smiled and put it on.

I continue to open my presents. I got a new book from Professor Snape. I also got a book from Uncle Remus. Hagrid sent me some rock cakes, which I knew better then to eat. Charlie and Bill got me a brand new wizard chess set. I got sweets from Dumbledore, some home made biscuits from Professor McGonagall. She makes the best biscuits ever. I got a deck of cards from my friend Derek and he invited me to play outside later after lunch with him & the other kids.

"Hi uncle Remus can I please go see Derek and the others after lunch?" I ask.

"Of course you can, but be sure to dress up warmly" he tells me. I nod my head. "Want to help me make pancakes?" he asks me. I nod and we head into the kitchen.

We started making pancakes from scratch and may have gotten into a flour fight. Which Uncle Remus cleaned up with a wave of his wand before we continued to make pancakes. The pancakes were amazing. After that, I went and got dressed for the day. Then played a few games of chess with Uncle Remus. Which he won. I then started to read the book Professor Snape had gotten me. Knowing he'd quiz me the next time we meet to see if I've read it.

After lunch I put on two jackets, a scarf, a beanie, gloves and my winter boots. I said good bye to Uncle Remus and left. I meet Derek and the others at the park. We built snow men, did snow angels and then someone started a snowball fight. Between boys and girls. The girls won as there was more of them.

Some of us then went ice skating on the frozen lake. A couple started to make a snow fort. Derek and I decide to go for a walk around the lake. "So enjoying winter break?" I ask Derek.

"Yeah, though you are so lucky you are home schooled" he states.

"Only until I'm eleven" I tell him.

"Something weird happened this morning" he tells me.

"Weird how?" I ask him confused.

"Well every year I get a pair of knitted socks from my grandma. Honestly I think she forgets I hate the colour green. But as I held the green socks, they changed to blue" he tells me. I look at him shocked, is he a wizard? "Mum thinks I'm crazy and that they were blue along" he states.

"I believe you" I assure him.

"Has anything else weird ever happened around you?" I ask him curious.

"Once I made an apple grow on our apple tree when I wanted one. It tasted great" he states. "Then there was the time when I had gotten to hand my homework in and it was in my bag. The window suddenly opened and blew the papers everywhere. I grabbed my homework and helped the teacher collect the pile. Another time my grade changed on it's own" he explains. He is diffidently a wizard, this is great I will have a friend in my year.

"Well I believe you, how about you come over to my house?" I suggest. He agrees, but he had to let his mum know. So we popped by his house and told her. Before I lead the way to my house. "Uncle Remus, I'm home!" I call.

"Living room" he calls. I lead Derek there and freeze at seeing Professor Snape. "Ah you must be Derek" he says smiling at him. "I'm Remus and this is Severus Snape" he states.

"Pleasure sirs" Derek says. "You're dressed weirdly" he tells Professor Snape.

"Shush" I say.

"Evan, I have word from the head master. You my tell your friend the truth" Professor Snape tells me. "Be sure to finish the book I gave you, I will know if you haven't" he states. Then disappears into thin air.

"Whoa! Where'd he go?!" Derek exclaims.

"No doubt back to Hogwarts" Uncle Remus states.

"What's Hogwarts?" Derek asks confused.

"The school I'll be going too" I tell him with a smile. "It's a school of magic and you'll be going too" I state.

"But I'm not magic" he states.

"Remember all the things you just told me about, that was magic" I tell him.

"How about I wipe us up some hot chocolate?" Uncle Remus suggests. We nod and he takes out his wand. Summoning the required things and made it for us. Then levitated a cup to each of us.

"So magic is real?" Derek asks.

"Yep, you're what is called a muggle-born. A witch or wizard born to non-magic parents, which are called muggles" Uncle Remus explains.

"What about you?" he asks me.

"I'm a half-blood. Pure-blood father, muggle-born mother" I state. "Uncle Remus is a half-blood and a werewolf" I add.

"Whoa cool!" Derek says.

"Not really" Uncle Remus tells him with a grimace. "I am forced to turn into a wolf each month on a full moon. It's very painful" he explains. "We have no control over ourselves on a full moon and I used to have to lock myself up every month" he states.

"Used to?" Derek asks.

"There's a potion now, that if taken allows one to keep control during a full moon. Though I still have to go away for a couple of days a month while Uncle Remus deals with it" I explain.

"Can I tell my parents?" Derek asks.

"Not yet, if you have any questions I am happy to answer them and so will Evan" Uncle Remus tells him. "Your parents shall find out when you get your Hogwarts letter in two years" he assures him.

"This is so cool, we're going to go to the same school and be in the same year" I state. Derek stays over for an hour before going home. The rest of winter break, he came other a lot. Uncle Remus and I told him a lot about Hogwarts & the magical world.
