Comfort- George Weasley

Hi everyone!! I am SO SORRY I haven't updated in forever!! I was on holidays and then school restarted and everything has just been chaotic. Anyway, thank you for being patient with me and I hope you all enjoy this one. Also OVER 900 READS HOLY GUACAMOLE!! THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYSS!! This story was requested by @magic_and_books

"That was a great game Gin!! Well done with that shot." You gushed, walking with Ginny Weasley around London. You were both on the Quidditch team, the Holyhead Harpies. Ginny was a Chaser while you were a Beater. You and Ginny had met at tryouts and had become instant friends, bonding over your love of the sport. She was now showing you around her hometown, and you were beginning to take a liking to this beautiful city.

"Thanks Y/n, how have you been enjoying London so far??" She asked, already knowing the answer to her own question. You smiled at her as the two of you continued to walk through the crowded streets.

"I love it!! Actually, I was thinking about staying here permanently." You replied, causing a beaming grin to adorn your dear friends face.

"That's wonderful Y/n!! You can stay at the Burrow until you get your own place if you'd like?? My mother loves you and would be happy to let you stay!" She replied excitedly, pulling you into a tight hug. You nodded, accepting her offer, returning her hug with your own excitement.

3 DAYS LATER

All of your stuff had been moved into your new room in the Burrow, which was located next door to George's. You were very excited to begin this new chapter in your life and Molly and Arthur were delighted to have you stay. You had a couple months of vacation before the next Quidditch season started up, so you were going to get settled and relax, maybe do some new things while enjoying your time off, as well as look for a small apartment. A quiet knock on your door shakes you from your thoughts.

"Come in," You call, as you begin putting up some of your polaroids from your Quidditch travels. George walked quietly into your room, eyes downcast, a small frown on his handsome face. Stop it Y/n, you've just moved in relax geez. George scratches the back of his neck nervously, before pulling his chocolate orbs up to meet your e/c ones.

"So, um, you've moved in?? That's cool, my room is next to yours if you didn't know already." George stuttered slightly, causing you to smile. Everyone knew about George, and how he was having difficulty with coping with the death of his twin brother Fred; but he still kept their shop open and he was trying his best, something you had always admired about him.

"Yeah, your parents are letting me stay here until I find a place of my own. It's very kind of them. AS for your room, I wouldn't have told me if I was you, I'll probably come and bother you now when I'm bored." George smiled slightly at your joke, making you smile in return.

"Well, I better keep my door locked then. Anyway, did you need any help with anything?" He replied, still shouldering the shy demeanour he had when he first came in. You laughed lightly at his joke before shaking your head.

"No, I don't need any help with anything thanks George, but you could keep me company?? I'm interested to hear how your business is doing." Accepting your offer, George sat down on your bed and began quietly discussing his shop and the different products hed just introduced. You both talked for hours about anything and everything, including Fred. A small smile was present on Georges face throughout your entire encounter; one many hadn't seen in a long time.

Over the next couple of weeks, you and George became extremely close, and everyone knew it. He was smiling more, interacting with the rest of his family more frequently; he even offered to play Wizards Chess with Ron a few times, and help Arthur with their Enchanted Car. Everyone knew that you were the cause, and they were all hoping that you would be able to help George heal as completely as possible. You knew too, each day falling a little bit more for the broken redhead. He was just so kind, and you wanted to see him smile his big goofy grin every day. You wanted to be the reason he smiled or that his eyes twinkled with admiration. However, you knew that he was nowhere near ready for a relationship, and you vowed to give him time and wait until he was ready. Although George was doing so well, there was one thing that no one could help with; his nightmares and the grief he kept hidden. You would often hear him screaming and crying during the night, begging for Fred to wake up, knowing that he wouldn't. It broke your heart, but you believed that comforting him or bringing it up would be overstepping, so you continued to keep your mouth shut.

It was now several nights later, and you were lying wide awake. The sound of George's cries was keeping you awake, the sound shattering your heart to pieces. Deciding that you couldn't ignore this any longer, you threw on your dressing gown and headed to his room. You knocked before opening the large door and stepping in. The room was mostly tidy, with a few gadgets and plans scattered here and there; a pile of clothes on a chair. You focused on George as you neared his large bed, his body shaking with sobs as he struggled to wake up from his nightmare. You sat on the edge of the bed, shaking George, and whispering for him to wake up, that it was just a dream. George jolted up in the bed, eyes wide as he remembered his surroundings. His eyes landed on you, and he engulfed you in a tight hug before continuing to sob. You wrapped your protective arms around him and squeezed tight, rubbing his back, and whispering sweet nothings in his ear, reassuring him that it was ok, that he was safe. His cries eventually turned in whimpers, then quiet sniffles. George relaxed in your arms as you laid him down, running your hands softly through his hair as you soothed him back to sleep. As soon as he was asleep, you kissed him lightly on the forehead, whispering a soft 'I love you', before heading back to your own bedroom.

The next morning, you're sitting at the kitchen table, eating Molly's beautiful breakfast when George comes down the stairs. Looking up, the two of you made eye contact. You smiled softly at him, not wanting to expose the night before to the rest of his family. He walks slowly over to you, leaning down and placing the softest kiss you've ever felt onto your rosy cheek.

"Thank you. Thank you so much." he breathes in your ear, hugging you tightly from behind. You return his hug, before he goes and sits in his place. The other Weasleys turn to you, bewildered, but you just nod and continue eating your food, a bright blush on your beautiful face. Over the next few months you continued to comfort George, and in return a soft kiss and a sincere 'thank you' was always left on your cheek the next morning. During this time the old George was coming back, and so were his flirtatious ways. He flirted with you AALLLL the time, and you always reciprocated his cheeky behaviour. He wasn't fully George yet, you all understood that he was still missing his better half and would forever be missing him, but he was still George, and that was all that mattered.

3 YEARS LATER

It was 3 years later and you and George were two peas in a pod. He was now as close to his normal self as he would ever be, and it was all thanks to you. As you both walked down Diagon Alley, heading home (you've rented a small apartment not far from the Weasleys),George turned to you with a mischievous glimmer in his eye. Before you had a chance to ask the problem you were swept off your feet as your lips collided with his soft ones. You melted into him. Pulling away he confessed how grateful he was to have you and how much he adores you. You smashed your lips together in a passionate kiss of love and hope, your life together finally becoming your dream reality.
