Students at Hogwarts are required to wear uniforms during class times. Which means that students cannot wear normal clothes during that time, they can wear them after classes are over and during the weekends and holidays but not during class. If you desperately want your characters to wear normal clothes they can wear some accessories such as necklaces, hair accessories etc.
