Ah the Yule Ball! A wondrous, magical night of dancing, feasts and fun. But most of all it is a celebration of the Tri-Wizard Tournament. It never happens unless the tournament is taking place. So no Lily and James couldn't meet at the Yule Ball I'm afraid to say that Newt and you're OC wouldn't be able to have their first dance at the ball. I feel like just about every fanfic has a Yule Ball scene where there shouldn't be one and it annoys me much more than it should, for some reason.
