Supernatural Season 4 Episode 15: Death Takes a Holiday

When Hadrian first read the article about the town that isn't dying, with mostly isolated incidents, he wondered what was going on with his Reapers in that area.

Then he felt a Reaper distress signal in the same area and knew something outside the normal forces of law were stopping Reapers from properly doing their jobs.

With that, Hadrian Peverell packed an overnight bag and decided it might be best to work in the ghost world, rather than in the real.

The reason is because if something was stopping the Reapers from working in the Ghost World, then it was a safe bet that that's where he'll figure out what's stopping the Reapers.

It took him longer than he anticipated going to Wyoming, but when he did it was nightfall and he had a feeling he arrived just in time.

And the reason for this feeling was because as soon as he arrived at nightfall, and only felt three wandering spirits, he knew that at the flash of lightning and the small hole in his heart that a Reaper was killed.

Anger suddenly coursed through his veins as his Death Magic made him pop to that location, his eyes knowingly black but not the demon type.

More along the lines that if you stared at them, knowledge, power, and even the universe would be seen. Like stars that littered that darkness that held infinite wisdom that hasn't been fully used.

His anger rocketed as he saw who killed one of his Reapers. And as Alastair rose Death's blade to kill one his favorite Reapers, Tessa, he rose his hands and shot the bastard into the wall.

Making the reaper that was in his hands, Death's blade, drop to the floor as the bastard stuck to the wall and was screaming in pain as Death Magic squirmed through his blood. Making it feel like fire and ice.

"Alastair," his voice was not that of the thirteen year old that he appeared as, but rather that of a much older being, "you were about to kill one of my Reapers."

"Dear, friend, I'm sorry. Please," he choked out as Hadrian ignored the two ghosts that were trapped behind the iron.

Keeping his hand trained on the demon who was still very much in pain, Hadrian knelt beside Tessa and felt displeasure at the soft red line that was on her neck from where the blade was held against it.

"Are you alright, dear?" his British tinted voice asked as magic caressed her neck softly, healing of the wound.

"Master?" he spoke out softly, but seemingly loud enough for the two hunter ghosts to instantly lock eyes with the child that had entered the room.

"You have nothing to worry about now. I shall take care of everything here. Find another Reaper to cover Hickson's duty please," he spoke softly, with affection lining his voice as he glared at the chalk that surrounded Tessa that bound her in her place.

Slowly, the magic he contained spread out to the circle, before crushing the chalk. He watched. displeased with his semi-friend Alastair, as the circle slowly burned itself before walking to the dead Reaper and ignored the still screaming demon.

He caressed Hickson's cheek, feeling sadness at the loss of a friend, before opening his shirt and gathering some of the blood from the wound on his neck before doing some complicated rune on his chest.

"From here forth, your duty as a Reaper has been released. From the Master of Death, I release you from your sworn duty. Shall you rest in heaven for your soul has been repented," he muttered in Death's language and watched the rune light up in a soft shining white before seeming to burn itself back toward the Reaper.

The rune itself burned, and when that had disappeared, the white fire that blazed in-golfed Hickson and the Reaper disappeared as his soul was released to heaven, and his body going to his initial grave.

Hadrian gave a moment of silence for the lost Reaper, and by the time he looked up he noted that Tessa was gone, the two hunters were still trapped, and Alastair had moved past screaming but still looked to be in pain.

Shaking his head slightly, he released Alastair from his punishment, not knowing his eyes went back to the normal emerald type of green instead of the black, and gazed at Alastair.

"I let you do a lot of things, most I don't like but put up with it. But if I find you killing another of my Reapers, I don't care if you're a friend. I will give you my mark and kill you myself, Alastair. You will not get another free pass, now take your demons and go. Go before I find them and give them my mark," Hadrian said with venom at the shaking form of Alastair, who was not use to being on the receiving end of Hadrian's torture.

"Of course, Hadrian," he muttered before the hosts mouth opened and before white smoke could disappear, lightning struck the building and Hadrian watched it grip onto the host and the smoke before making him disappear.

Displeased at the angels interference, especially concerning his friend, Hadrian turned and watched as Tessa unchained the two hunters from their spot. The taller of the two seeming disappear as Hadrian heard the echoes of a spell being cast to return ones spirit to their body.

Shaking his head, he stared out the window feeling conflicted.

"What now, Master?" Tessa asked, slightly subdue but in a strong voice like she hadn't almost been killed.

"We mourn," Hadrian said softly, his voice sounding thirteen once more, "we mourn the loss of one of our own. And make sure that one of our Reapers never gets taken again," Hadrian said before being interrupted by the other hunter.

"What the hell just happen?" he asked, but mostly demanded.

Hadrian blinked, before feeling his lips twitch into a smile. It's been a long time since someone has taken that tone before, and it felt almost refreshing. Even as Tessa shot Dean a glare to behave and respect the being in front of him.

"At ease, Tessa. It's almost refreshing being demanded to," Hadrian said softly and watched as Tessa relaxed. Huh, his Reaper liked this one, good to know. "To answer your question, Dean Winchester, I am the Master of Death. And I do not take kindly for one of my Reapers being taken and killed," he replied softly as his body, for some reason, relaxed around the man in front of him.

"Master of who now?" he asked looking startled and slightly weary. His hand reaching for something at his side, but found nothing to be there and his face tightened slightly.

"I know it sounds weird. It is still new to me to, but Death does find himself lonely at times too. Now, I believe your time has come for Cole Griffith to go to Heaven."

With those words, Hadrian 'teleported' (honestly he needed to find a better word for the type of traveling he does) back to Sirius and Remus and entered back to the Real World, letting Tessa deal with the two hunters while he enjoyed the full moon with Moony and Padfoot.

With that thought, he changed himself into his animagus form, a black Phoenix, that was named Azrael and got the attention of Moony and Padfoot who both looked happy to see him.

The rest of the full moon was spent playing around and making sure to keep Moony away from civilization.
