The Most Fun Tag I've Ever Done

So I was tagged by SosoAuthor to do this first line tag in which we have to write the first lines of our works at Wattpad. But I think for me it's going to be like a first paragraph. And I think it's quite fun to do. But I don't have enough stories on this account so I guess I'll compensate for it but adding my one shots.

Anyways let's get started.

Lupus Conjectura:

Faint rays from the sun were pouring in through the canopy of the trees, falling over him in droplets similar to that of the rain. With every passing minute, his appearance became more human and the wolfish attributes were gradually fading.

Mellifluous (draft):

The flames reached higher for the sky as if intent on burning everything down. Despite it being midnight, the plain shone bright as day from the intensity of the fire. A dainty girl was lying unconscious at the ground, a silver halo surrounding her as if giving protection from the fire.

When The Lights Go Out:

The streets were lit by rows of lamps, cold breeze was whistling softly in the hollows and snowflakes were falling from the sky kissing the ground and everything in between. A transparent silhouette was gliding silently on the snow kissed pavement, peeking through the frosted windows of the houses aligned by the street.

Sweet Vengeance (published at Angelily2015 account):

The silence of the night was nothing when compared to the echoing screams of death and revenge. It was horrifyingly dark in the room and only a dim light was visible but even that weak flame contributed to the unspeakable terror of the place.

Serendipity (one shot):

It has been quite a while since I last saw him. Newton Scamander; the man devoted to his beasts. It was really amazing the way he cared for them, felt for them and treated them like one would treat his kids. Amazing, no other word to describe it. I was walking down the streets to my house thinking that it was on this same street when I had first seen him. And now it was almost an year.

Featherbrained (one shot but in drafts):

It was the dawn of a new era in Wizarding History; an era of peace and tranquility. Voldemort had finally been vanquished and the world cleansed from the filth created by the Dark Lord and his followers. Neville was sitting on the steps to the castle's entrance, Gryffindor's sword still in his hand, smeared with blood accentuated by the shiny twinkling of the encrusted rubies. A reminder of how much he had to stood up for, how much he had done. An emblem of his bravery. His mind was whirling with such thoughts when she came and sat next to him.

Forever Eclipsed (one shot):

The cold air struck her hard like a whip but she continued taking long strides, moving swiftly against it. Even though her eyes were watering by the constantly striking wind, she continued determinedly.

Fade Into Nothing (one shot):

I will miss Hogwarts. True, it feels great at having graduated finally but one things for sure; no matter what happens next in my life, my school days will forever remain the happiest memories for me. With the war hovering above us, it was downright impossible to have such a carefree school life but I guess all the credit for it goes to those notorious Marauders.

Megalomania (one shot):

In this extremely diverse human nature, if there is one thing common to each specimen of mankind on Earth, it is the flame of ambition. Ambition which gives rise to passion, rekindles determination and burns fiercely in each human heart.

And for now this is it. These are all he first lines I have written up till now.

But yes, there is another section of the tag which I almost forgot, so let's get it done with too. It's about what you think about your first lines, the similarities, differences etc.

Conclusion:

It is quite easy to see that most of my first lines are scene setters. I tend to describe the surroundings first, making a reader imagine the place he/she is transported into through the story. But even though I love writing in this style, I also like to try out new stuff.

Such as there a few times when I introduce the main character through the first line such as in Featherbrained.

Or some times when I'm writing from a character's point of view, I tend to adopt a diary entry style such as in Fade Into Nothing.

I also love to incorporate universal facts into my first lines, as you can see in Megalomania.

And so far, Serendipity is an exception because it is from Tina Goldstein's perspective however it is quite open and frank, it is one of those times that I leave my own preferences and delve into the character to see how they would start a story.

Alright then, thank you for bearing with me up till now and reading all this.

I tag:

And anyone else who feels like doing this.

Also, happy birthday to our very beloved and admired Sirius Orion Black. Wish J.K Rowling had not killed him off too soon and given him his much deserved years of freedom in the books.
