Serendipity (FB&WTFT)
Serendipity:
(noun)
the fact of something interesting or pleasant happening by chance.
Alright there we go... Finally a Fantastic Beasts related chapter. It's not exactly a headcanon, it's just my theory on what would have happened after the movie ended. So enjoy. Hope it exceeds your expectations because I'm putting all the effort I can in this.

Newt gazed at Tina, awkwardly affectionate. He gently reached forward and touches her hair. Lingering for a moment, they stared into each other's eyes.
A last look and Newt suddenly moved away, leaving Tina standing, raising a hand to touch where Newt had stroked her hair.
But then he was back.
"I'm so sorry - how would you feel if I gave you your copy in person?"
A radiant smile broke across Tina's face.
"I'd like that - very much."
Newt couldn't help but grin back at her before turning and walking away.

•PORPENTINA GOLDSTEIN•
It has been quite a while since I last saw him. Newton Scamander; the man devoted to his beasts. It was really amazing the way he cared for them, felt for them and treated them like one would treat his kids. Amazing, no other word to describe it. I was walking down the streets to my house thinking that it was on this same street when I had first seen him. And now it was almost an year.
Life for us couldn't be better though. Queenie found Jacob at his Kowalski Baking Supplies, they got married soon after and now I was returning from their home where I had gone to see my newborn niece. She looks exactly like Queenie did as a child. However, the kid has inherited her eyes from Jacob. They are happy together and I'm happy for them.
Even though I live alone now, I'm quite comfortable as it gives me more space and enough silence to think things over. Helps me to have some peace while doing work too.
Whatever that had passed in this year was definitely for the best. But at times I can't help but wonder at where would he be now. Whether he'd be wandering in the forests of Amazon or in the Crooked Forest of Poland. Or perhaps in the dreary North Pole. I pushed back some strands behind my ear. That's something I do out of habit. And... Well... Something that gives me a pleasant memory to recall.
There was a tinkling sound behind me like someone had dropped a bag of coins. Instinctively I turned around to see what it was, but bumped into someone.
"Oh, I'm so..." I began apologizing but my voice trailed off seeing the case that was at my feet.
Looking up I saw what I wasn't expecting in the least. Sandy brown hair, intense forest green eyes and the characteristic scent of cinnamon.
"Pleased to see you," I finished the incomplete sentence.
He picked up the suitcase and a radiant smile broke on his face, "Tina."
I nodded, smiling myself, "Newt."
He straightened and joined me as we walked down the street, "I was thinking of coming to your place today. Never thought that I'd meet you here."
I asked, "and for what reason were you considering visiting my place?"
He dipped his head as a soft smile crept up to his face, "I promised to give you your copy in person."
"So your book got published?"
"Yes, it's doing great by the way. People have developed an interest in creatures nowadays. It's great, really."
"Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Well, where would we find them by the way?"
He chuckled, "in my suitcase. Obviously."
I laughed a bit at that. Newt was just the same as when we had last met.
We reached my house and I unlocked the door with my key, leading him inside. Thankfully Mrs Esposito didn't bother much in peeping her head out to take a look. He looked around probably noticing that there wasn't anyone else beside us.
"Queenie got married last year," I replied to his unasked question, "to Jacob. They have a daughter now. Her name's Amora."
His eyes widened a little as if wondering over something, "Amora... That's French for love, right?"
I nodded in reply.
He smiled, "how's Jacob doing?"
"He's opened his own shop. Quite famous he is now in the baking supplies. He makes buns that resemble your creatures. The Niffler bun is his specialty."
He laughed and I was once again reminded how contagious it was. Newt didn't laugh often. He would only smile or grin at the most. But when he did, it was infectious as if forcing the other to join as well. "Well you know, my Niffler escaped twice today. Causes a lot of hazard, that little bugger. I'll have to think of a way to train him not to leap after coins or jewelries. But I know that's going to be difficult. He's incorrigible, see."
He switched a dial on the catch of his case and opened it. I knew that was his Muggle Worthy switch, which prevented people who checked his case at the ports and stations from finding out the Creatures inside. Taking out a copy of a book with purple binding, he handed it to me.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
By Newton Scamander
It was quite a thick book. "It took me a while to finish this one," he spoke, "at first it was really unorganized but then... Things worked out afterwards. Every creature has its own chapter now. And there are sections for closely related species as well."
While explaining, he looked a lot like a child who had just finished making something out of building blocks and was waiting for either appreciation or criticism.
"The outcome shows your hard work. It's great, Newt, well done," I flipped over a few pages and saw illustrations as well. Handmade illustrations. I looked up at him for an explanation.
"Uh... This is a special copy. I illustrated it myself. Well... Is it bad?"
Despite myself I laughed, "it's wonderful. Thank you so much. It makes me feel really honored that you made a special copy for me."
A faint blush crept up to his cheeks; he had always been adorably awkward. And well, that was what made him special. Different from others.
"I... Well... You never got to see all the creatures I hoard in here, did you?"
"No, I didn't."
He placed it down on the floor then gently releasing the catches, he opened it.
"Most of them are not with me anymore but I do hope that they are getting taken care of better where they are now. Oh. And Pickett says hi."
The shy bowtruckle was peeping out of his pocket again.
"Hi Pickett."
He gestured to the opened case, "ladies first."
I took a deep breath, not that there was something to be afraid of, Newt had assured me many times that nothing in there was dangerous, and then jumped in. Just like Alice had gone down the rabbit hole, I went spiraling down the suitcase. Shortly afterwards, I landed on what seemed like the end at last, while bumping in a lot of objects along the way.
"You okay, Tina?" Newt's voice from above.
"I'm okay."
"Good, now step aside, I'm coming down."
I did as he said and very soon he jumped down agilely as he had been quite used to it by now. He lit up a lantern and as the yellow light filled the surroundings I looked around and was surprised to see how large the suitcase really was. There were typewriters, manuscripts, lots of plants, a stove in a corner and a whole apothecary like booth. The last time I had been here, I was too occupied and anxious to take in the beauty of the place. And now it felt like this was the first time I was actually seeing it fully and clearly.
"You live here?"
"Precisely," he cut off a few chunks of meat and threw them in a basket, "I once brought Jacob in here. I was surprised when he liked my creatures. People are mostly afraid of the prospect of seeing things bigger than themselves. Especially Muggles... I mean, No-Majs. It's been a while since I visited America, I must have forgotten a few of the common phrases you use here."
"Yes, it's been a while."
He picked up one of the parchments lying around glancing at it briefly and mumbling, "ah, there's a book signing which I totally forgot about. Anyway, good riddance."
"This is really huge. Must be a strong Extension Charm." I was taking in every little detail of the place, though it was really cluttered up with a lot of items stacked one over the other, it still had an inexplicable charm to it. An attraction which is beyond describing.
He lifted the bucket and gestured me to follow him, "there's much more to see. What you have seen just now are my personal quarters. I have to manage different habitats for my creatures in here as well. So, certainly, it had to be huge. Gigantic."
He opened the door of his shed and walked through, "come on."
I followed him thoroughly amazed by every magically realized habitat we passed and stepped into a sandy, moonlit territory.
A tiny bright pink bird flew past us and came to rest on a little perch eyeing both of us with curiosity.
"This is a Fwooper. I have kept this one though most of her flock is now under the care of the Ministry's Department for Magical creatures."
Soon enough a large creature with slimy tentacles came charging into sight. Newt roared beast-like and it roared in reply. A few other similar creatures came out as well.
"Hey fellas, how you doing?" The creature's strange tentacles rested on his shoulder in a seemingly embrace. "These are Graphorns. They were very near extinction when I found them." He seemed quite at ease in this environment despite the fact that he was always shy and awkward around humans. It kind of showed that he preferred the company of his beasts rather than mingling with the human society.
"Would you like to pet them?" he asked. I was a bit reluctant at first. We Americans have never been in such proximity to such creatures and for a major part of my life I had been taught how things as these could be dangerous. But then... A lot of those teachings had been proved wrong. So... Why not? I reached out slowly, very cautiously, then stroked the head of the little one that was close by my feet.
"That's it, they like you too," he remarked smiling as the little Graphorn began licking my hand.
Newt threw them the chunks of meat and the Graphorns gladly devoured their feast. We headed up a small ramp of stairs and entered a bamboo wood. "The Occamys are gone now," he spoke pointing to a large nest, "I miss them. All of them. Do you know, one of those Occamy hatched in Jacob's hand? We had just met and well... It was a strange day after all. Very exciting."
"The day when I arrested you? Yes, I remember. It was a strange day, I admit, though I was more of troubled than excited."
He ducked his head below to avoid the tangling branches and headed forward. However I was distracted by a moonlit rock where some things appeared to be bobbing up and down. I inched closer, my curiosity taking the better of me and soon enough I was surrounded by those hopping creatures with huge eyes looking up at me in what clearly was a shy yet friendly expression.
"Hello," I spoke timidly, I was still not sure how to act round these wonderful creatures, but yes Newt had been right when he said that they weren't dangerous. Not at all. A few of them pushed against me and I couldn't help but pet them. I liked this. Evidently. It was very relaxing seeing how those creatures became so easily fond of a person, how they reacted and how innocently beautiful they were.
"Ah I see, the Mooncalves have found a friend," Newt came up behind me and a lot of the Mooncalves were around him as well. He threw them their food, pellets according to him, and those creatures began hopping up and down with excitement.
"Do you like my creatures?" he asked, his eyes were shining with that special kind of love and pride which a mother has for her children. Newt is different, there's no denying it. But his difference from others is precisely what makes him special.
"Of course I do."
His eyes darkened slightly, "but you know... There are, um, just a slight... A few problems." I followed him to a secluded area of the moonlit habitat. "my book has been a great success and the Ministry has been insisting me to expand on its contents. People have finally shown an interest in magizoology, there have been sightings, reports are flooding in to the Ministry and they want me to travel around the world in search of more creatures. I had been working on creating a Muggle version for the book as well so that creatures all over must be protected. Wizards and No-Majs would come together on this field and I... It requires me to travel. Leave for some time."
"So, you'd be gone for a while again?"
"Uh... Yes, I suppose. A long while actually. It's a hazard of the profession."
"And there's no knowing when you'll be back?"
"Unfortunately. No knowing."
There was a considerate pause. I don't know why but the prospect of him leaving with so less certainty of his return was not very comfortable. I gazed around taking in that miniature yet magnificent world he had created in his suitcase. Who knows when I'll see it again.
Who knows when I'll see him again.
His eyes locked with mine as if he too was going down the same train of thoughts. "I'll miss you, Tina." It was quiet, hushed, but I heard him anyway.
He gently placed his hands on my waist and I placed mine round his neck as he slowly guided our steps in the traditional waltz. It was soothing, calm and peaceful, just like the place we were in. Perhaps he had understood what I was thinking and wanted me not to worry.
"And why will you miss me? You would be really busy tracking out creatures, travelling, finding new stuff. It won't be easy to find time to remember someone like me." I don't know why, but at times I tend to be painstakingly honest.
"Tina... You're no different than my creatures, you know. You're... Uh... Special. When I develop a liking to someone, I tend to remember them for a long time."
Most would be put off at his typical choice of words but I knew what he meant and smiled, "are you admitting to liking me?"
His face reddened noticeably and I had to stifle a laugh. "Uh... I... Yes. I... I like you. Very much."
That was really... Touching. Newt ducked his head slightly getting brightly colored than a tomato.
"I like you too, Newt. Very much."
I don't know how that came out. I had never thought of admitting it. But I guess I just did somehow. He looked straight in my eyes, even though he avoided eye contact most of the times, but this once he was looking at me as if thoroughly surprised.
There was a long while of silence in which we just resumed the familiar dance saying nothing as if the silence alone was compensation enough.
Finally Newt spoke, "I was thinking... Just thinking, mind you... That is, if you want, obviously you can refuse, there's no obligation, I uh... Would you accompany me?"
It took a while for me to register his shaky voice. "Accompany you?"
He nodded, "I mean if... If you want to. It's up to you to choose, really. I was just... Suggesting. It's completely fine if you... If you refuse."
He ran a hand through his sandy hair; something he did out of habit and whenever he felt highly awkward about himself. Or unable to clearly express through words, that is.
"Of course, I'd love to come."
He looked at me again, this time his eyes were shining with hope and delight.
When we pulled apart he spoke up as if suddenly realizing something, "oh, I'm so sorry. This is extremely short notice and we'll have to catch the ship tomorrow morning. I must go to arrange your ticket as well." Then after a short pause, he added, "are you sure you won't have any trouble in packing in such a short time, will you?"
"Not at all," I replied reassuringly.
"Very well then. I must get going. Get your ticket fixed."
Newt seemed quite eager to get the work done as quick as possible so without wasting any more time, we climbed out of the case and I accompanied him out of the apartment.
"Oh and Newt," he was about to leave when I spoke making him stop and turn around to face me, "Queenie would like to have you for dinner tonight."
A pleasant smile spread on his face, "I'd meet you at Jacob's, then. And hopefully you'll introduce me to the lovely Amora."
"Sure, why not?"
With a small wave, he disappeared among the crowds of people and my eyes followed him until he completely vanished from sight.

[A/N: How was it? Let me know in the comments below. And well, I don't know why but I'm really fond of that gif I used above even though it doesn't have the slightest connection to the part I have written except the fact that the gif is of Eddie Redmayne behind the scenes as Newt Scamander.]
