Chapter 5: The Duel
I do not own the underlined passages, it's from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. That being said, I do not own Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Underlined - Quotes from the book
When it came to the time to start flying lessons, Harry was ready for them. Having rode his own Pegasus quite a bit, he wasn't afraid of heights. In fact, he loved them and the air in his face.
So as his fellow Hufflepuffs and met with the Gryffindor's at the flying pitch, Harry felt annoyance at the redhead (who he later learned was named Ron) was bragging about how well he should be able to fly as he had been flying brooms since he was little.
Harry ignored the red head (and twin redheads in the stands who were watching the practice), and tried to calm Neville who was terrified of heights since his Great-Uncle dropped him from a window.
There were twenty brooms lined up with their teacher standing near them.
Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short, gray hair, and yellow eyes like a hawk. "Well, what are you all waiting for?" she barked. "Everyone stand by a broomstick. Come on, hurry up." (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
Harry glanced down at his broom. It was old and some of the twigs stuck out at odd angles, but Harry could feel the magic dance around them, like it knew what was about to come and was excited.(- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
"Stick out your right hand over your broom," called Madam Hooch at the front, "and say 'Up!'"(- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
"Up!" everyone shouted.Harry's broom jumped into his hand at once, but it was one of the few that did. (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
Neville's hadn't moved at all. Perhaps brooms, like horses, could tell when you were afraid, thought Harry as he noticed other students who seemed nervous, broom's didn't move either. (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
Madam Hooch then showed them how to mount their brooms without sliding off the end, and walked up and down the rows correcting their grips.Harry felt slightly delighted when she told Ron he'd been doing it wrong for years. (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146)
"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard," said Madam Hooch. "Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle -- three-- two --"But Neville, nervous and jumpy and frightened of being left on the ground, pushed off hard before the whistle had touched Madam Hooch's lips. (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 146 and 147)
"Come back, boy!" she shouted, but Neville was rising straight up like a cork shot out of a bottle -- twelve feet -- twenty feet. Harry saw his scared white face look down at the ground falling away, saw him gasp, slip sideways off the broom and -- (- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 147)
Everyone watched as the broom suddenly paused in the air, Neville holding onto to it so tight everyone but Harry was surprised the broom hasn't snapped yet.
The reason Harry wasn't paying attention to Neville almost falling, he was focused on controlling the broom to not jerk around from Neville's simple touch.
He worked on stroking the magic to calm the excited magic that was escaping from it. He softly lead the broom back down, only connecting his magic to the brooms through his eyes.
Had he paid attention, he would've noticed Madam Hooch slightly narrow her eyes toward him before relaxing and whispering calm words to help Neville.
As soon as he was close enough to the ground, Neville shakily got off the broom. Harry was instantly by his side and held him up from falling onto the ground because of his shaking knees.
"May I take him to Madam Pomfrey to get a Calming Draught, Madam Hooch?" Harry asked as Neville was still very pail.
Madam Hooch instantly dismissed Neville and I, and I slowly lead him toward the nurse's office at Hogwarts direction.
Entering the hospital room, Madam Pomfrey was there talking with Professor Snape, "Hello Professor, Madam Pomfrey," Harry told them as he held Neville upright.
"Oh my! What is wrong?" Madam Pomfrey was instantly by his side and took Neville to a bedside.Harry following obediently.
"Neville should probably have a Calming Draught, Madam Pomfrey, he was quiet nervous before our flying lesson and when it was time. He went up before the Madam Hooch blew her whistle. We should be quite happy that he wasn't injured," Harry explained as he stayed by his fellow Puffs side.
Madam Pomfrey was nodding along with what he was saying while Professor Snape had a calculating look in his eye.
After the nurse ran a diagnostic charm over Neville and grabbed a Calming Draught, Neville looked much better afterward and his face was finally returning back to his tan face.
"You really need to press charges against your great-uncle, mate," Harry told his friend when he noticed that he was finally calming down.
Neville frowned at him and shook his head, not knowing the other two grownups in the room suddenly were had a raised eyebrow.
"And why should Mr.Longbottom press charges against his great-uncle?" Professor Snape asked the two.
Neville looked nervous again and turned away from the two, but Harry knew something needed to be done to the uncle who still visited the Longbottoms.
While he would normally keep his friends comments and secrets to himself, he would not condone a type of magical abuse.
"When Neville was growing up, he didn't display a lot of magic you see. His family thought he was a Squib for a long time and his great-uncle took it upon himself to bring Neville's magic out," Harry explained and could see the sharp look in both teachers eyes. "Neville is now afraid of heights after his uncle dropped him from a third story window to bring his magic out."
Both students noticed how their teacher's lips disappeared in a bit as they both looked like they wanted to kill someone.
"We shall talk about this later Mr. Longbottom with Madam Bones from the Head of Departments of Magical Law Enforcement," Madam Pomfrey told him.
Neville, who still looked nervous, nodded his head shyly. The other professor could tell that he was still nervous and decided to at least bring something else for him to think about.
"I assume you and your friends are done with your homework?" he asked, his voice stern but calm.
Harry and Neville both nodded without much thought and could see the pleased looks on both teachers faces.
"Then go fetch your friends and we can head to Diagon Alley for a wand, Mr.Longbottom. Was there anything else you wished to pick up?"
Neville and Harry traded and look before Harry hesitantly asked, "May Neville and I stop by a shop for some bedding for our beds. The Hufflepuffs are allowed to decorate their rooms you see, and Neville and I want new bedding. We cleared the idea with our Head of House already Professor."
Their Potion Master looked like he was thinking about it before saying, "We have an hour away from school. If Mr.Longbottom's wand doesn't take up the whole time I don't see why not."
Harry smiled gratefully before dragging Neville away to find their friends and meet back up with the Professor who was waiting by the front door.
Heading to the alley was an experience for Harry, for Flooing to the alley was a new experience for him.
It felt like the times his uncle Nico shadow traveled with him, but instead of being more controlled, the magic was wild and only based your destination on intent.
He felt rather sick when he stumbled out of the fireplace in the pub that Harry first entered to get to Diagon Alley.
The others weren't far behind and Draco seemed pleased that there was a type of magic that Harry didn't like. "Feeling sick, Jackson?" Draco jokingly taunted as he exited the fireplace with no problems.
"I don't know, Malfoy, I want to see how you experience a Roller Coaster for the first time and be fine with it," Harry taunted back, already making plans in his head to show Draco what an amusement park was during the summer.
Especially once he saw Draco's confused look. "What's a Roller Coaster?" he asked
The Purebloods he was friends with also looked confused and the nervous once they saw the gleam in Harry's eyes. "I'll show you this summer, all of you," Harry promised them as he then dragged Neville toward Ollivanders.
Their professor was behind the group watching the interaction between Hufflepuff and Slytherin with amusement. He grew up in the muggle world and knew exactly what Mr.Jackson was referring to.
As they entered the wand shop, Harry felt the magic cress over him and saw Mr.Ollivander exit from the backroom.
"I did not expect any more first years this year," he told the group as he looked them over.
"Mr.Jackson-Potter, how has the wand been going for you? Though, I'm sure you would be fine even without it?" Ollivander asked still cryptic but not to Harry.
"It's been great Mr.Ollivander. We're not here to talk about me though, can you help Neville find a wand to use. His fathers does not work well for him," Harry told the man who had a brief glimpse of sadness when he mentioned Neville's father.
"Of course, step right up lad. Right or Left handed?" Ollivander asked while staring at Neville.
"Uh, right hand, sir," Neville replied looking scared.
It was almost 20 minutes in when Harry felt something in the left corner. He was surprised to note that it felt remarkably like the magic that drifted off of Neville.
"Mr.Ollivander, might I suggest the wand in the left corner," Harry said while pointing to the wand box.
Ollivander looked closely at Harry before his eyes lite up. He started to mutter to himself some possibilities much to the rooms confusion. He grabbed the box looking excited and handed Neville the wand that was inside.
Almost as soon as his hand connected with the wand, Harry could feel the magic resonate from it and felt satisfied that they found Neville's wand.
With a swish, Harry suddenly found eyes staring at him while Ollivander told him that it was, in fact, the wand that was destined for him.
"How'd you know that was Neville's wand, Harry?" Blaise asked.
Harry blinked at the question and responded, "I listened for the singing magic that was similar to Neville's of course."
"Of course you did," Draco said with a sigh, not understanding his friend and wondered why his friend was always weird with his responses.
While the children looked confused at Harry, the two adults in the room shared a glance, they had an idea of what Harry meant. For Ollivander had a similar connection to magic like Harry.
Neville just rolled his eyes at his friend and paid for his new wand before following Harry out of the store.
"Hogwarts?" Daphne asked looking confused at the two boys.
"Nah, we need to get new bedding and I wanted to check out a store in Knockturn. If that's okay with you Professor?" Harry asked
While the Snape was intrigued at what Harry could possibly want from the bookstore but agreed that they can check it out after they look at bedding.
They each found the bedding they wanted and after they were paid, Harry started toward Knockturn and the others were surprised with how he could navigate.
He made his way to the bookstore that held more neutral and darker books. The professor watched what he was looking at to make sure he didn't take any dark books to Hogwarts.
He was surprised when Harry picked up a wandless magic book, Occlumency and Legilimency book, and finally a metamorph book.
The others saw that as well but no one said anything as Neville looked through the books as well and picked up an occlumency book as well.
They paid for the books before heading to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor where each got two scoops of ice-cream.
The professor noted that is was about time for them to head home and said as much. While there was some disappointment, there were no complaints as Harry and Neville grabbed their packages and the group made their way back to the Leaky Cauldron to head back to school.
They arrived by Lunch and, after stopping by their room to buy their things done, Harry and Neville sat at the Slytherin Table for lunch like they started to do.
Terry joined them and asked how things went where Neville got to show him his new 13" Cherry Unicorn Hair wand.
They discussed potions next much to the disgruntled Daphne, Millicent, and Tracy Davis. Who started to talk about certain fashions and then compared notes on Defense Against the Dark Arts.
The rest of the day was similar on them comparing notes on their classes with the rest of the Hufflepuffs before dinner when something new happened.
Ron went to Harry who was sitting with his friends at the empty puff table (most had already left for the night) and started to mock Neville about the flying lessons.
Harry was already annoyed with the red head especially with the rumors he was trying to spread about Harry and the rest of the Puffs. How he could never really be a savior because he was a Puff.
Harry stood up from the table and stared Ron down at his nose. "Mr. Weasley, if you continue to harass my friend and I then I will challenge you to a duel." Harry sneered at the end, tired of Ron who was all talk with no bite.
Ron's face was getting red and he quickly challenged Harry. "Midnight, tonight, a duel. Dean will be my second, what about you?" he quickly sneered back trying to act like he had the upper hand.
But everyone knew the boy was failing his classes, as he didn't want to do any of the assignments and when he rushed to complete them they were bad and not very good.
Glancing at Neville who was looking annoyed at the boy, Harry quickly replied, "Neville Longbottom will be my second. This duel will not be to the death, but rather the one who says they lose. It will not be a midnight battle as that is against the school rules. I will go to Professor Sprout and McGonagall right now and tell them to set up a dueling room," Harry told the boy who quickly paled.
His original plan foiled by the Puff. Before he could back out, Harry was standing and walking toward the professor table.
"Professor McGonagall, Madam Sprout. Ron Weasley has issued a wizard duel to me and I have accepted. It won't be to the death but rather to the one who forfeits. I ask that you set up a room that we can use before curfew please."
While both professors were disappointed with the children in the house, they noticed Harry's annoyed face and figured out that he would rather not duel. They had noticed that Ron was getting close to bullying the two Hufflepuffs and Madam Sprout quickly agreed to Harry's term after awarding 5 points for telling a teacher.
Word around the school quickly came that the Boy-Who-Live-to-be-a-Hufflepuff and Ron Weasley the Gryffindor were going to have a duel.
With the news spreading, everyone wanted to watch the duel as letters were sent out quickly. Harry did see that Ron's family were not talking to him that day and felt more comfortable that they wouldn't hold it against him if he beat their brother.
Not worried about the duel, Harry sat reading the next two chapter of the third year transfiguration class. He had already learned the Accio spell that Perfect Weasley used and was about to start badgering his upper classmates to also teach him some of the spells they were learning.
When it came time for the duel, Harry put his book aside and met Ron on the Quidditch pitch where the duel would take place because of how many people wanted to watch the fight.
Even some parents from the board showed up. Harry noticed that Mr. and Mrs.Malfoy showed up and were sitting next to their potions professor with another gentleman with black hair and glamoured eyes that showed dark brown was sitting next to them.
Harry noticed that the magic surrounding him was rather strong, he stopped paying attention to the unknown man as Ron made his appearance.
Dean was next to him looking rather hesitant while glaring at Ron. Neville was by Harry's side looking more confident than he first was on the train.
They had practiced with his new wand earlier and noticed how much easier magic came to him, making Neville finally become more confident in his magical abilities.
Whispering for Neville to wait by the stands, with Dean following him, Harry started for a bow that Ron quickly followed.
Harry and a hesitant Ron followed dueling procedure before turning on one another. Harry quickly sent out three spells that won him the battle quickly.
"Aguamenti! Aqua Eructo! Expelliarmus!"
Quickly, both water charms went after Ron who was thrown backward but landed mostly fine other than a few bruises.
Before he could do anything, the disarming charm hit Ron and his wand flew to Harry's hand. And just like that, the duel was over.
Leveling his wand at Ron, Harry told the boy. "Remember this for next time Weasley, I am advanced in my magic. Spread rumors against me, and bullying my friends again. I will use stronger spells for our next duel."
With that, Harry dropped Ron's wand next to him before turning to Dean who quickly told the boy he forfeited while glaring at Ron.
Harry nodded toward the boy before turning to Neville where the two boys fist-bumped one another. "Sweet spells. What year were they?" Neville asked.
Harry blushed and told the boy, "The Arguementi spell is taught to sixth years, Aqua Eructo is very similar to the Arguementi but is a more controlled water spell, not a blast of water like Aguamenti. Expelliarmus will be taught next year," Harry explained to the other boy.
While he was talking with Neville, he barely noticed when Ron stood up, red faced and humiliated and turned his wand to Harry.
Before he could utter an incantation, Harry turned around from the urging of Hogwarts and quickly shouted, "Furnunculus!"
Ron shouted as boils started appearing on his skin, and interrupted whatever spell he was about to say. Harry glared at the other boy but instead of letting his anger at the boy take over, he calmly turned back around and walked toward his room.
Neville was silent for a few seconds as they walked back to their dorm before asking, "How do you know those spells? I thought you're new to the magic world?"
Harry gave his friend a smile before answering his question, "I am new to the magic world, but when I try and understand the magic it becomes a second skin to me. I understand it so much that even the spells ahead of our year are easy for me to understand. I know almost all of them, but I haven't tried any of them out."
Neville digested this information before something came to him. "Are you saying those spells you used in the duel were your first time using them?"
Neville looked at Harry in awe as the other boy nodded his confirmation. "That's amazing, Harry," Neville breathed out as they went back to their room.
They entered their room and stayed there for a few more minutes before figuring it was time to face reality and see what others have to say.
They were as impressed as Harry expected, he got confusion and awe. Some chuckled up his magical ability to him being the Boy-Who-Lived.
Harry was annoyed at those assumptions but ignored it anyway. Only his year-mates, Cedric, and Nymph knew that he just had the affinity with magic.
He was also slightly annoyed when he found that he was the talk of the school, and that while Ron was more hesitant, he still bad-mouthed Harry more often than not.
Other news was that Professor Flitwick held Harry aside and talked to him about his dueling skills and where he learned them.
Harry told his professor that he learned some of the higher year spells and that he just learned the movement and how to speak it but never actually done the spell before the duel.
He was surprised to note that the Professor seemed even more excited and talked to Harry about possibly staying after class for some dueling training.
Harry told the goblin wizard that maybe he could have it in his schedule for next year but this year he just hoped to relax slightly and just learn magic for fun.
Thankfully, the professor seemed to understand that and told the first year that he'd take with Professor Sprout about Harry's schedule for next year or possibly third year.
After that conversation with the professor, Harry wondered as he had a few minutes till he had to be at his next class. He let Hogwarts guide him through the school.
He became confused when Hogwarts urged him up further up the school, but Harry trusted the school and let it guide him through the halls until he stopped in front of a double doored room.
Pausing because as he tried to pass the room, Hogwarts urged him back. So, now he was just staring at the door confused as he felt the magic surrounding the room.
Pausing as he heard something moving around the room, Harry slowly told the door feeling like he should announce himself before opening the door.
"Hello? I'm Harry Potter, I'm going to open the door okay?" Harry asked softly yet it reverberated through the empty halls.
Harry paused as he heard more movement behind the locked door before softly muttering an Alohomora and heard the door click unlocked.
Pausing as he heard a growl that sounded like multiple dogs, Harry tried to make reassuring noises as he calmly opened the door and softly peered around the door.
Stopping short from the image in front of him, he wondered how someone ever got Hade's Cerberus relative here.
Surely, the dog didn't like being cooped in this room the whole school year. Harry also wondered where his owner was, surely this dog was going to protect him more than whatever was under the trap door by his feet.
Feeling unsure of himself, Harry entered the room and stopped as the three-headed dog growled warningly at him.
Moving away from the door that was under the dogs giant paw, Harry made reassuring noises while holding his hand out and hoped that the dog didn't see it as a threat.
He let his hand dangle in the air waiting patiently for the dog to maybe connect the action as nonthreatening (that is, if his owner ever pet the giant dog).
The dog's ear perked slightly as he cautiously walked toward Harry, Harry himself had shallower breaths as the dog started to loom over him.
He breathed out a sigh of relief as the middle dog's nose bumped his hand and he slowly started to scratch the giant head while the other two heads stood guard.
Smiling at the giant black dog that was practically shoving his head in his hand now, Harry moved to start to rub his neck and the dogs back right leg started to twitch slightly.
"Good boy," Harry told the dog softly as the other two heads relaxed at seeing their third head practically goo in Harry's hands.
Scratching the other two heads he hesitantly left the room after saying goodbye and promising to return soon, Harry raced down the halls toward Transfiguration.
He arrived just a few minutes early than his normal 10 minutes early. His professor rose an eyebrow at him noting that it was Harry's first time 'late' to any of the classes and she had to wonder what the child was doing that made him miss his normal time to class.
"Everything alright Mr.Jackson?" The professor asked as her and her colleagues had just taken to calling him by his first last name and not the whole thing (with his permission of course).
Harry gave a grin at the professor and nodded. "Everything's fine, Professor McGonagall, just did something that took longer than suspected."
The professor took the excuse and waited for the rest of the class to file in before starting their lesson for the day.
After he was done with his classes for the day, Harry instantly grabbed a piece of parchment and activated the amulet around his neck that Hedwig also had.
Pressing it and softly asking Hedwig to start her way to Hogwarts using his magic and their bond, Harry started to write to his dad about seeing about three rubber balls for a Cerberus he had found and wanted to see if they acted like Hades Cerberus.
As soon as he was done writing, he opened his dorm window and gave a smile to Hedwig who landed with a small hoot.
She nuzzled against his cheek before looking at Eclipse with a raised eyebrow if possible as the cat rubbed against the owl and purred.
The kitten had grown in the months at the school, he wasn't a fully adult cat but he was certainly allowed out of Harry's dorm with the idea that he could protect himself (though, he mostly hung out with Mrs.Norris and Filch as they relaxed before they strolled the halls).
Rubbing both his pets heads, Harry took a second to grab a owl treat he kept nearby before handing the letter to Hedwig.
"Make sure no one sees what's inside, okay girl. Take it straight to dad at home, if he's at work, please make sure he gets the letter when he gets home," Harry explained to the owl before softly cooing at her and rubbing her head and wings softly.
"Thanks girl," Harry told his favorite owl as she sunk into his hands before reluctantly leaving the school to make the trip back home.
As soon as the owl disappeared, Eclipse jumped into Harry's arms and they headed off to see about finding their adult friend and cat to hang out with before dinner.
His days mostly went like that as Halloween started to near. When he had free time that Draco didn't, he hung out with the Cerberus on the third floor who trusted him enough to let him rest against the giant dog as it guarded the trapdoor in the floor.
Sometimes, if he really wanted to get away from his rowdy friends (minus Neville who was just quiet anyway outside of their group), he'd sneak away and take a nap against his three headed friend who seemed to have taken him as some sort of pup figure.
It became such natural look of his hair just sticking straight up from the Cerberus' tongues that always groomed him while he rested against the dog.
When Draco asked about it the first time, Harry just smiled and told the boy, "I think it looks rather good. No messy hair see, it works. I think I like it."
And it was the end of the discussion of how Harry got the spiked hair in the first place. It also helped spread the word that; no, he did not have a lightning bolt scar on his forehead like all those children books dictate or biographies that were written about him.
Shaking his head to stop daydreaming, Harry yawned and looked over his history notes and Binns droned on in the background.
Maybe he should just let Madam Sprout know that he's going to start self-studying for history and just show up for the final. Yeah, that sounded a lot better than being stuck in this classroom with a ghost that had a monotone voice.
Stifling a yawn, Harry debated if he was going to celebrate this Halloween or not. Usually, he does a every other sort of Halloween thing.
As soon as he found out that Halloween was the day his parents died, Harry took that Halloween off to grieve while the year after he went out with his dad to trick-or-treat. It became a tradition going that back and forth route.
This Halloween he was suppose to grieve and Harry was debating if he was going to or not. Making a list of pros and cons, Harry decided to talk to Neville about it. As his parents were unable to take care of him near Halloween as well.
Folding his backpack determined, Harry stood up and asked another kid to move from the seat next to Neville, both boys looked startled before the Ravenclaw kid shrugged and took over Harry's previous seat.
Smoothly sitting next to his friend, he asked the boy. "Are you going to the Halloween feast or not?"
His friend looked startled before a sad look entered his eyes and the boy shook his head sadly. "I was going to be near the Astronomy Towers. I already have Madam Sprouts permission," Neville replied, his voice low but sadness was there.
Harry gave his friend a reassuring smile before softly asking his room-mate, "Mind if I join you? I don't really feel up to going to the feast that much this year." Harry gently explained why he didn't want to go to the feast and Neville's sad looked became a little hopeful.
"You can join me, we're have to tell Madam Sprout but she should be fine about it. To be honest, I swear she and the other Puffs were planning something," Neville conspired with Harry who looked amused.
"They probably are. Hufflepuff loyalty and all." Shaking his head and deciding to go back to another topic he wanted to discuss with his friend.
"I was thinking of doing History class as a self-paced, self-learning class. Wanna join me? We can go to the library during this time and look over the books and make notes. We just have to be here for the final and have our head house approval," Harry explained.
Neville looked thoughtful before glancing at Binns and flinched from the way he was droning on about a Goblin Rebellion. "I would love to do the self-study with you."
Smiling, Harry nodded and started to make a schedule that he and Neville could do to study for the class. Because even if they didn't get permission, Harry was determined to not spend another second in the class than he had to. If it meant skipping the class, well Filch would understand along with Madam Pince who loved Harry.
Writing notes to other students he thought would like the self-study for first years, Harry made a list with Neville's help of people he thought would like it.
The list had the following names so far:
Draco - Slytherin
Blaise - Slytherin
Daphne - Slytherin
Millicent - Slytherin
Goyle - Slytherin
Crabbe - Slytherin
Tracy - Slytherin
Theodore Nott - Slytherin
Terry - Ravenclaw
Hermione Granger - Gryffindor with Ravenclaw tendencies
Susan - Hufflepuff
Hanna - Hufflepuff
Justin - Hufflepuff
Zach - Hufflepuff
Leanne - Hufflepuff
Megan - Hufflepuff
While most of the group was either Hufflepuff or Slytherin, at least the head houses of the other two houses won't feel so left out. The two from the other houses can always bring some of their friends from that house too.
As it was time to leave for that was their last class, Harry and Neville made their way to their head of house who gave them permission to gather their small friends for self-study for history after warning them that they had to get over an A to continue it next year.
High-fiving, the two made their ways to the people on the list to talk about it and have them ask their head of houses who all agreed.
Though, Harry did note that Hermione from Gryffindor was shocked by the invitation and had blushed when they talked to her and stuttered out a sure before making her way to Professor McGonagall with the brightest smile Harry has seen from the girl the whole year.
With that, now all Harry had to worry about was Halloween.
