Chapter 16: New Friends and Second Year

I do not own Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets or Percy Jackson

Harry was able to find his friends quickly, Draco, Blaise, Tracy, Daphne, Theo, Terry, Hermione, Susan, and Neville seemed to have found or asked the train for an empty apartment.

"Finally, you took forever to get on," Draco complained trying to act like the dignified Pureblood he was, before slouching in his seat with a small pout.

"We took the mundane-way in, and that was starting to get slightly backed up as they tried to do it subtly from the other Mundanes," Harry explained as he flopped next to Neville and Susan

"Mundanes?"

"I did some research this past summer, did you know that the term 'muggle' actually came about 250 years ago, but before that it was mundane because it was less rude to say than 'muggle'," Harry explained as he quickly let Eclipse and Lunar out of his trunk so they were less cramped, even if they did have their own section in the trunk.

"I didn't know that," Draco said with a thoughtful expression as there was a gleam in Hermione's eye.

"Tell me everything," she practically demanded, Harry probably would've taken offense had he not know that when it came to books and knowledge, she will get very bossy because of her express interest in them.

"I could just give you the book I read, well that, and I had lunch with Mr.Flamel a few times over the summer and he went into great detail about how he hates the fact that they changed the terminology. Throws him off everytime, he says." Harry told the other people in the compartment who almost all expressed shocked expression.

The only two that weren't shocked was because Draco, who looked more exasperated than shocked, was used to his friends ability to make friends seemingly everywhere, and Neville who joined Harry once for a lunch when he was brought into the previous lunch affair. Neville had ended up connecting with Mrs.Flamel about plants and "my husband is hopeless with plants dear, can kill a cactus I swear, it's so nice to talk to a young man that actually can keep a plant alive and still not hit on me."

Neville was red the entire time for that night but the two boys still enjoyed their talks with their respective Flamel as Percy just shook his head and started talking to the House Elves that worked part-time, and with a fee, for the Flamels. A semi-old elf by the name of Flame that has been with Mr.Flamel his entire life, being the original caretaker, and later just housekeeper. The demigod and elf were comparing cookie recipes and possible food choices if one ever went to the others during non-lunch hours.

"Harry, that's something you actually write about to tell your friends. Not something that you tell them when you go back to school," Draco said slowly with exasperation still shining on his face.

Harry blinked before turning to Neville, "I forgot to write a message to them didn't I?" he asked

Neville, with a sadden and apologetic slumped shoulders just nodded, for he also forgot to mention it to their other friends too.

Pursing his lips and filing a reminder to write more messages for the next summer, Harry turned to his friends, "So, what did you guys do over the summer?"

With that, the trip to Hogwarts was spent telling each other about the places they visited, people they talked to, how boring some peoples summers were, and then more discussion on the Flamel family and returning to Hogwarts.

"I just hope I can at least teach the first years something useful," Harry commented as they just arrived to Hogwarts.

"Please, you mostly lead the study group last year and everyone in the group got EE and O's on their exams, you'll be fine," Daphne dismissed as she started to walk away from Hagrid who was calling for the new first years and went toward the carts.

The group split into four people per group with Draco, Harry, Neville, and Hermione taking once carriage.

As they neared the carriage they were going to take, Harry's extra wand started to feel slightly warmer and Harry swore he heard a slightly neigh in the wind that seemed to be picking up around them.

Harry saw Hermione shiver as they neared the carriages, "Come on, let's get in soon. It's starting to get cold."

Draco just rolled his eyes, and pulled his wand from his holster and said the spell for the warmth-charm for clothing.

Hermione rolled her eyes at the blond before grabbing onto his arm and dragging him toward the carriage.

Neville and Harry watched the two, Draco being dragged by Hermione and Hermione still determined to get out of the weather that was turning bitter.

"What do you think?" Neville asked as they watched their friends.

Harry himself, had his head slightly tilted in thought. "I don't know, doubtful, but maybe when their older? Hard to tell, they both need to mellow out in order for anything to occur. And who knows, there might be someone else for either of them," Harry explained before stopping short just of the carriage even as Neville continued to walk.

That was, until he realized his friend stopped. "Harry?" he asked as he noticed his friend looked at his friends and saw adoring and curiosity shin in his eyes as he stared at something in front of the carriage. "Harry?" he asked again.

"Their beautiful," Harry murmured before shaking his head, gave a grin to Neville, and joined the other two in the carriage.

Neville just shook his head at his friends behavior before joining him in the carriage.

-------------------------------------------

Once the first years were settled and the hat sang it's talk, did Harry feel something off about the castle.

He sat straight up as he felt the feeling of slight uncomfortableness that was radiating from the Hogwarts.

Worried for the castle that was quickly becoming a second home to him, Harry was about ready to bolt out of his seat and following the feelings before he felt a gentle caress on his magic.

It was a soft stroke that was sent by Hogwarts to calm the young charge that was under her current care. With the reassurance from Hogwarts, Harry settled in his seat once more and ignored the pointed, questioning look from his fellow Roommate.

"Everything alright?" Neville whispered when he noticed that Harry was't going to answer his pointed look.

Just as Harry opened his mouth, did the great hall open once more. Silence immediately came upon the hall as a scowling Professor Snape walked into the room with his robes bellow behind him. Following the dour Potion Professor, was a red-faced Ron Weasley who was trying not to make any eye-contact with anyone in the room.

"Wonder why he was late," Neville whispered as the rest of the room started whispering as well.

Harry tilted his head in thought and felt a nudge from Hogwarts. Harry watched as Ron Weasley sat at the end of the Gryffindor Table, alone and still red-faced with a humiliated look on his face.

Harry was also curious about what happened, but felt there was no need when he saw the frowning, slightly guilty looks from the Weasley Twins.

Knowing what he needed to do now, Harry told Neville to head on back without him as he stood up and made his way quietly to the end of the Gryffindor Table.

From there, he sat across from the Red Haired boy who was, for once, not eating any of the feast food that was set in front of him.

Harry was starting to get slightly concerned as the boy just ducked his head and didn't even see who it was. Harry watched the boy that tried to torment him last year before shaking his head slightly at the foolishness of some people.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot. Hello, I'm Harry Jackson-Potter," Harry finally spoke and let over his hand over the table in front of the boy who finally looked up.

The two boys stared at one another, before finally the other boy gave a slightly shy smile and grasped his hand. "Ron Weasley, nice to meet you too Harry Jackson-Potter," he finally said.

The two boys grinned at one another before starting a conversation off about Quidditch before the feast ended and they had to go back to their dorm-rooms.

"Does this mean Ron is joining our group?" Neville asked as he walked beside his friend.

"It certainly seemed like that right now. Just be aware he will most likely having some jealous problems," Harry warned with a carefree sort of look as his hand glided against Hogwarts and let his magic intwine with Hogwarts slightly.

"He told you that?" Neville wondered looking confused.

"Please, anyone who is the sixth child of any family will feel a bit of jealous issues. But it was mostly his magic that told me," Harry replied and watched Neville's face twist into an amused look.

"Right...his magic told you. What happened anyway, why was he late?"

"Don't know, don't care. You shouldn't either and don't pay attention to any rumors. I think the Weasley Twins are going to be on a vengeance streak for anyone who makes up something they don't like about why Ron was late."

Neville shuddered for a second before the two kids entered the Hufflepuff dorm-room, beating the First Years that were taking a slightly longer route. The third years and seventh years were standing in whispering to one another pulling names from a hat for who they were going to mentor for the next few years.

Harry went to his and Neville's room where he spent the next hour working on the first class for the first years before finally following Neville to sleep.
