:: Chapter 23 :: The Competitors

A tall figure entered into the room, it was quiet and the only light coming from the goblet, it's flames flickering the shadows softly around the large room.

It was night time and everyone slept peacefully unaware of the plans the figure had in the goblet room. They walked easily past the shimmering age line and to the goblet.

A noise from outside of the room spooked them enough to swish around to stare at the doors, before quickly reaching into their sleeve to retrieve a slip of paper that quickly cluttered up with their toss. Then they started leaving the room even before the paper had fully fizzled into non existence.

The paper twiddled softly turning as it started to burn properly, the name striking out boldly. One to young for the trials ahead.

Harry Potter-Jackson.

_______

The group of friends-Harry, Draco, Blaise, Theodore, Daphne, Neville and Hermione sat in the grass enjoying the warmth of the fall day. Still a few chilly winds but it was nice out and that's all that matters. It was Going to be Halloween soon and the schools that would be competing with Hogwarts were to be here any day now.

And while speaking of it, Draco pointed out the sudden approach of a flying ship-Harry thought of the stories of Argo at the large ship-but it looked more Viking then the one his Dad spoke fondly of. They swirled around the school before coming to land in the black lake. Then a carriage-or rather carriages pulled by Pegasi came swooping down and landed in the main courtyard.

"Woah, makes them look more Dramatic then Snape." Blaise spoke amusedly.

"No one is ever more dramatic then Snape." Harry replied snickering and Draco joined in after he thought about it himself.

"Correct." Blaise consented as he stood with the rest to go catch a glimpse of the other schools if possible. But it was kinda hard with everyone crowding around and none of them wanted to get stomped or pushed around. Much less even touched by anyone they didn't know or possibly didn't even like.

They caught glimpses but not enough to really get a full view of anyone. Or so gage what they were like. But they left it as that and decided to go back to their spot and talk softly with each other. Making guesses as to what the schools and competitors would be.

Before they were off back to classes when they realized the time.

The great hall filled with chatters as kids of all ages sat and waited cheerily for the upcoming Halloween Feast. Harry was poking fun at Draco, the boys cheeks going red as he defended himself meekly, unable to do much against his best friend. Besides poke fun back, and soon they were grinning. Blaise and Daphne just sat quietly enjoying their banter. Theo reading book but listening in. The two Hufflepuffs at their own table talking excitedly, just as the doors bursts open with loud sounds of something hitting the floor.

Everyone watched as a bunch of boys came marching in hitting staffs hard enough to cause Marks and Sparks. Harry was totally enamored as he watched them storm in a graceful and very practiced entry. Draco seemed miffed and he didn't even know why. Especially when a tall nearly man winked at Harry as he caught his eye, making the younger blush but he didn't look away.

Draco was about as unabashed as Percy was bored at their entrance.

Soon after they were declared as Durmstrang, an all boy wizarding school. They were sat down. And the next school entered.

The hall burst with little butterflies as gracefully in their long blue skirts did the next school enter. Twirling and playing and smiling. They enchanted most the boys. Especially a tall slim beauty that walked as bout as graceful as a god.

Percy was suddenly hit with the face of Annabeth when she turned and saw her face but it melted away to show her true one. And he could admit she was beautiful and alluring-but he as he thought that something aches in his chest as he remembered someone just as so if not much more so. He blinked away the shock. He hadn't expected the sudden flash of her-but he supposed it was bound to happen. It had nearly been to long since he last had an episode.

Severus watched Percy freeze and grow distant all in a matter of seconds. He frowned before setting a hand on Percy's shoulder. Making the man jump. "You alright?" He asked softly as the school was announced as Beauxbotons Academy oh Magic, then seated.

Breathing in Percy nodded with a small smile. "I'll be fine." He spoke before their attention was taken to the old goon acting as a grandfather.

"Today, the goblet will help choose the candidates for the tri-Wizard tournament. Each school will have one champion. And the first trial will be later this fall. The exact date will be released as soon as it's confirmed. Now, Durmstrangs champion will be-" he turned to the goblet as it turned a shade of blue before spitting out a piece of paper undoubtedly with the name of the Durmstrang Champion. "VICTOR KRUM!"

The students of Durmstrang rang out in excitement as a tall broadly male stood with a smug look on his face, he was sitting with the Slytherin, close by where Harry was-so as he passed again he winked as he was the same boy from the entrance just minutes earlier. He was then led to a back room where the Champions were to be briefed.

"Now for Beauxbatons," his hand flickered out and another flare of blue and another piece of paper fluttering into his open palm. "FLEUR DELACOUR!"

Shrieks filled the air from the academy of said champion as she rose, and soon gather some more excitement from Hogwarts themself-mainly boys as some girls looked disgruntled at her beauty. It wouldn't be till later that anyone realized that she was a Veela. She too was led into the back with pride written in the way she smiled and the way she walked delicately to the back.

"Now, what Hogwarts has been waiting for, our Champion will be-" another dramatic flip of his old skinned wrist, a flare of bright flame blue and a twirling paper. "CEDRIC DIGGORY!!"

The applause that followed was ultimately louder then the previous champions, but was welcomed from the school as it was being held at their second home from home. Cedric stood from his table all smiles as he goofily gave high fives and was escorted to the back room.

"Now I would like to-" the goblet sputtered.

Everyone watched with wide curious eyes as the blue sputtered for a few seconds as if fighting back. They all leaned forwards to watch as another piece of paper spit straight into the air twirling softly and slowly enough that it was snatched before it would land properly. "Harry Potter-Jackson." The olds mans voice crooned through the silence.

Harry jerked surprised as he stared wide eyed at DumblyBore. Why was his name-no, how was his name in the Goblet of all things? He gulped. He was asked to stand and head into the back-a second champion for Hogwarts. His chest was tight with panic and his eyes looked to his fathers furious ones. He felt even more scared at that.

The eerie silence was louder then anything could be when there was no noise being made. He gulped as he went up and his father stood grabbing his hand gently to help him even if he seemed to shake to control his fury. He turned to the school with raging stormy eyes then when he felt the contempt against his son. "If you think for a moment-to believe my son put his name in somehow-then I will rip you all a new one. Children or not." His eyes turned to the teachers then. "And even if he somehow could. He did not want to. He was prepared for an easy school year just like everyone else. He isn't as attention seeking as most of you." He spits out and vehemently turns and drags Harry into the room.

The champions looked startled, as well as Bagman who was in the middle of talking to them.

"Dad, I didn't-I don't want this." Harry said his panic had built over the past few minutes-and he knew a panic attack was close. He had many when he was younger, fewer as he got older. But the sudden thought of competing against deathly odds triggered one to make him start crying. Not caring for the audience in the room.

"I know Harry, Gods know, that I believe you Harry." Percy took Harry's face-and he realized Harry was growing up. Much to his disgruntled feelings, but he pushed it off as he looked into his bright green eyes with his own much softer blue now. "We'll figure this out-maybe we can get you out of this considering there's already three champions and that all that's needed. Don't cry baby-I know, it's scary-so come here." And Percy did the only thing words couldn't at the moment. He hugged Harry as snuggly as he could without breaking him.

Then the rest of the teachers came barging in making Harry flinch but not move. Dumbldore was calmly watching as he walked over. "Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet?" He asked as he stood a good distance away-acknowledging how Percy glared heatedly from where he was.

Harry wiped his tears away, his eyes meeting the champions behind his father before grimacing and turning with a calmer face. "No. I didn't."

Rubbing his back Harry turned to his father to see him giving a reassuring smile. Percy then turned to them. "Is there someway we can get him out of the trials? There's only supposed to be three champions-emphasis from the 'tri' from the tri-wizarding tournament. Shouldn't he be automatically counted out considering age and being a fourth?" He argued to the officials of this fine tournament.

"No, I'm afraid not." Dumbledore said-in a way that would have sounded tired and sad, but it just felt wrong to Percy's ears.

"Why?" He glared-adding the Lupa technique he had learned, what felt like more then just a few years ago but decades now.

Bagman came up with a frown. "Because, when someone's name is called. And Ancient-just as ancient as the tournament it's self-draws them into a contract, they cannot exit the contract until they finish the tournament. Or die trying. If they don't participate-then their magic may suffer the consequences by being taken away-forever." He explained as calmly as he could. Feeling a bit horrible-but excited for the potter to be joining into the trials ahead.

Percy grounded his teeth and snarled. "When I find who put my sons name into that damned Goblet. They will be castrated and sent to TarTarus." His eyes blazed with a unbridled fire of rage that made everyone nervous. But Harry didn't mind, he just snuggled into his father for more comfort.

Everyone ignored the storm battering at the windows that night, and the slight tremors-knowing it would pass. But what they didn't know-was that it was Percy Jackson barely containing himself as he paced his room.

Until he stopped, the tight swirling in his chest made a pressure build in his eyes before he found himself crying. He could t lose anyone-not again. Not someone as precious as Harry was to him. Not when he had barely lived long enough for his lifespan. A Wizard could live far longer then mortals, nearly 200 or 300 if they took care of themselves well.

He bit his inner cheek from making noise as flashes of dead people-dead friends and family rushed into his mind. He feared closing them would be worsening the effect of his panic.

"Perseus." He turned then and found his father there with a look of a crestfallen old man. His hair grayer then before. But only when he saw how much damage was done to his son. "I'm-would you like me to stay?" He asked hesitantly, he wasn't sure if he would get an answer. But before he could ask again or try to change it-Percy was in his arms and bawling silently. And Poseidon would be lying if his heart didn't break again for the second time seeing his son mourn everything he had lost.

Carefully he wrapped his arms around him-still not used to being much of a father-only good at being that fun spoiling grandfather. But it felt right, as his arms soother the shaking form and his powers calmed his sons so not to utterly destroy the land around them.

Poseidon regretted a lot of things but the thing he regretted most, was hurting his family-his son Percy who had done so much for every, how sweet he was and how strong he was...even if at gains he was vulnerable I'd not weaken him. It just showed how well characterized his son had become and he was infinitely proud with every step Percy took to gaining his life back.

Poseidon wished a lot of things, but most of all he wished for Percy's happiness.

Take what you will, but not what you already have. -Neko

Idk if anyone has said that, but it came to me and I decided it was something worth putting down.

Anyways, I've been getting some comments about how no one wants Percy with either Snape or Tom, or hoping he'd just be with Snape.

But here's the thing, I decided at the beginning of taking over this book, what relationship Percy would be included into. And I laugh as well as feel a bit apprehensive towards these comments. I enjoy reading everyone's comments. But these ones make it clear that I need to be more clear on who Percy will be with.

And wouldn't you know it? It's bother Snape and Riddle-and not noseless Riddle but ultra sexy and possibly more on an Oc-ish side. He won't be evil-we all know that's Dumbledores roll in this so far-lol.

Anyways, I wanted to clear that up because soon-it'll start to show a lot more through the chapters, and I wanted everyone to know before going ahead.

Also, spice is being added, mwhahaha!!!

Thank you for listening in on my little note and I hope you all continue to enjoy this book as much as I am writing it.

Love, Neko.
