Loving You

Falling for Harrison was walking through a grocery store and wondering what he was doing because you had just spotted his favourite cereal.

Falling for Harrison was seeing a funny meme on Instagram and wondering if he would've laughed at it as much as you did.

Falling for Harrison was hearing just one word that reminded you of him and wondering if he missed you as much as you missed him.

Falling in love with Harrison was easy. It was everything you had ever dreamt of and at the same time the most challenging thing you had to accept. You fell for the blonde boy with the angel eyes. You fell slowly and over quite some time, but it didn't change the fact that you were sitting on your bed right now, wondering if there had ever been something more between you.

You had never planned such thing as to fall for your best friend, but Harrison made it hard for you to not see more in him. He was sweet and always there for you. He took care of you whenever you were sick or whenever some stupid boy had broken your heart once again, always running his fingers up and down your back while placing soft kisses on top of your hair, promising that he'd never hurt you, that he'd always be the one to catch you before the fall.

Accepting Harrison's dream was walking through a grocery story without picking up the cereal because he wouldn't be home for at least another month.

Accepting Harrison's dream was seeing a funny meme and not sending it to him because he'd probably be too busy to respond to your text.

Accepting Harrison's dream was hearing just one word that reminded you of him before your mind went back to the days when it was just him and you, on a blanket in your favourite spot in the park.

Accepting Harrison's dream was hard. You supported him no matter what and no matter what he was doing, but seeing him live his dream and slowly but surely make his way to the top meant the he wasn't always there to dry your tears. He was still your best friend, but sadly he was your best friend in a different country.

Right now, he was out of the country, filming a secret project that he wasn't even allowed to talk to you about. He had been gone for the past month and you hadn't been able to talk to him for the past two days which was unusual. Of course you knew he was busy and you knew he had some of his friends there with him, but not hearing anything from him in the past 48 hours sucked.

Missing Harrison was sitting at home, eating breakfast alone while staring at his bedroom door, wishing he would walk out to greet you with a kiss on your forehead.

Missing Harrison was looking at your phone, waiting for it to light up with a message from Harrison who was sending you something funny he had found on Instagram.

Missing Harrison was wishing to hear his voice or feel him wrap his arms around you as you were nobody but yourselves, at home, on the couch in your shared apartment.

Missing Harrison was frustrating. You knew you couldn't change anything about your situation and you knew that you didn't want to, because Harrison was living his dream and you wanted nothing more than to see him happy. He had worked hard for this and you felt ridiculous for wishing that he would be here with you right now. You had your own life and your own friends but everything seemed to be better when the blue eyed boy was around. Everything seemed so much easier.

The two of you met in primary school and you had been inseparable ever since. You were there for each other highs and especially the downs. He had helped you clean off the dirt in your wounds when you fell on the ground while trying to skateboard and you had been there to hold his hand while you waited for the ambulance to arrive after he had broken his foot.

He was there for you when you broke up with your first boyfriend and you were there when he got his heart broken for the first time. He was the first boy to ever tell you that he loved you - obviously followed by a "as a friend.", but you had said it back without even thinking once about the meaning of the words.

You didn't know when the friendly 'I love you's turned into real 'I love you's for you, but it was clear for you that you liked Harrison more than as just your best mate. He was gorgeous and on top of that, he had everything you ever looked for in a guy. You went on dates with a few people before and always found something you didn't like about them. One guy didn't like dogs which bothered you, one guy had told you he wasn't really a family guy and that he hated kids and one guy just couldn't be bothered to laugh at the stupid puns you love to make.

It wasn't until you had been on a date with the guy who didn't laugh at your jokes that you realised that there seemed to be only one guy who met all your expectations and he was no other than the guy you had known most of your life. Harrison loved dogs, was great with kids and had the same fucked up humor as you did, making him check all the boxes on your imaginary "Perfect Boyfriend"-List.

Obviously, you never told him anything about your feelings as you were to scared about him walking out of your life after realizing he didn't feel the same for you and that he couldn't be friends with someone who saw more in him than just their mate. It was hard to be in love with Harrison while he had no idea about it, but you figured it was better than to lose him, because losing Harrison would mean that your whole world would come crashing down.

It was the week after Valentine's Day, a day that you couldn't give less of a fuck about. Usually you had spent your Valentine's Days with Harrison at home, cooking dinner and drinking beer, but this year, he was in another country, working, while you had been at home watching your rom-com movies alone with no one to laugh at you for being such a sappy romantic.

You knew Harrison secretly loved watching those rom-coms with you although he never admitted it, but more than once you had seen him get emotional over something that had happened in the movie. You loved teasing him about the one time he had to bury his head in your shoulder to hide the fact that tears were about to escape his eyes.

The two of you were perfectly comfortable with each other. It wasn't unusual that either of you were walking around the house in your underwear. You were fine with him wandering into the kitchen every morning in nothing but his boxers and he seemed to be cool with you either walking around with only a towel wrapped around you body after showering or you walking around with only a long shirt and no pants underneath.

It always felt so natural between the two of you, like you were meant to be. Everything was so easy and simple with him which made the decision to ultimately move in together very easy for you. He had practically been living at your place anyways so it only made sense to take your friendship to the next level.

Being home alone meant that you couldn't be bothered to put on any pants while working your way around the kitchen. It sucked to cook dinner for one person but you figured that starving sucked more, so you decided to cook some pasta. With your favourite Playlist on full blast you didn't hear the front door open as you loudly sang along to the song that was currently playing.

Harrison had spent the evening on Valentine's Day in bed, watching a rom-com and wondering what you were doing right now. He wanted nothing more than to call or facetime you, but you were probably asleep and he didn't want to wake you up just because he missed hearing your voice.

Missing you was eating his favourite cereal and feeling homesick because you weren't there to tease him about him never growing up and eating "real" food.

Missing you was setting a picture of the two of you as his lock screen because he didn't have enough time to text or talk to you.

Missing you was watching rom-coms on his own whilst wishing that his life would somehow turn out like that without him putting his feelings out there without knowing if you felt the same about him.

Missing you was distracting. Harrison had a hard time concentrating on his lines when everything reminded him of you and when everything he wanted to was to cuddle up on the couch and pull you into his arms.

The boy missed you like crazy and after spending Valentine's Day suffering on his own, he had asked for a few days off. A few days off he was glady granted since he kept annoying everyone on set with his stories about you and about how great you were, about how much he missed you. Everyone had seen your face on his lock screen and everyone had heard at least one story about you which made it pretty obvious to them that he needed to see you, talk to you - and maybe officially make you his.

Being in love with you was his heart almost stopping at the sight of you in nothing but one of his shirts while you were dancing around the kitchen.

Being in love with you was watching you with a grin on his face until you finally turned around and almost had a heart attack as you realised there was a person leaning against the door frame.

Being in love with you was being nothing but a sappy romantic as he pulled out a rose behind his back while you couldn't help but jump into the boy's arms.

"Why are you here?" You mumbled as you had your legs still wrapped around the boy's middle while your face was buried in the crook of his neck.

"Spending Valentine's Day alone sucked." He chuckled, "Figured you'd still want my rose a few days late?" He grinned as you found your way back to the ground as you took the rose from him.

"I'll have to think about it." You couldn't help but smile as your eyes found the blue ones you had fallen in love with, "Thank you."

"I missed you." Harrison smiled as he pulled you into another hug, making the butterflies in your stomach go crazy as you hoped he couldn't feel how fast your heart was beating right now. Everything was so simple between the two of you. You may have not talked to him in the past few days and not seen him for a few weeks, but he was still your best friend and the same guy that owned your heart, "Also I forgot one of my shirts, but I see that you've lovingly taken care of it." He grinned as he pulled away.

"You don't need that many shirts." You grinned as you bumped hips with him before walking back to the stove to save your pasta from burning, "Want some food?"

"Are you going to kill me with it?" He teased as he walked over to you before wrapping his arms back around you middle as you leaned against his front, fully enjoying to finally be back in his arms.

"Don't know, how long are you going to be gone for again?" You laughed, "If it's longer than a month I might think about it."

"I've got five weeks left." He mumbled as he place a kiss on your shoulder, finally making you wonder why he was being so touchy and affectionate. Of course it wasn't unusual for him to place kisses on your cheek or forehead or hug you, but something felt different this time.

"Then I have to think about killing you with my food." You chuckled as you turned around to face him again.

"Please don't." You had missed his smile. You missed looking into his blue eyes and you missed how you felt around him, "I'll make it up to you."

"It's fine H, you know I'm proud of you." You smiled as your hand found its way to his cheek to give it a little pinch, "Just don't forget about me."

"I love you way too much to ever forget about you." You had heard him say those three words so often, but never had they felt this sincere. Never had they felt like he meant them as more than 'as a friend', "I didn't only come back because I wanted to spend some time with you, y'know..."

"Yeah, you already said you forgot one of your shirts." You grinned as he rolled his eyes at you but couldn't help but fall in love with you even more.

"I came back because I realised that I missed you so fucking much and because I annoyed everyone with my stories about us, about -" He smiled as you seemed to get lost in his eyes, waiting for him to continue talking, "- about how much you really mean to me, and about how you are the best thing in my life -"

"Harrison, wha-"

"Shut up, (Y/N)." He laughed as you closed your mouth again, waiting patiently for him to continue his little confession, "Being away from you was hard, you know? I still regret the day I first told you I loved you. I don't know if you still remember that day, but I was quick to add a 'as a friend' and I think it's finally time for me to tell you that I wish I would've never added that part."

You felt like someone had pulled away the floor underneath you because it sure as hell felt like you were currently floating around on cloud 9. Did Harrison really just tell you that he loved you - not just as a friend?

"Shit, I-I'm sorry, I didn't want to complicate our friendship, I- I just thought you should know." You felt Harrison's arms leave their place around your middle as he took a step back, bringing you back into reality as you realised that you hadn't shown any reaction to him admitting his feelings to you.

"I wish you wouldn't have added that part as well." You grinned as Harrison's eyes found yours again, leaving you with no doubt that you were head over heels in love with your best friend.

Kissing Harrison was easy. Finally knowing what it was like to feel him pull you into a kiss was breathtaking.

Kissing Harrison was everything you had imagined it to be like. Finally feeling his soft lips on top of your own was mind blowing.

Kissing Harrison was something you never wanted to stop doing - and you were more than just lucky that he never wanted to stop kissing you as well.

Loving Harrison Osterfield was simple and effortless, but at the same time it felt like your own little rom-com coming to life.
