Laser Tag
"I'm so going to destroy you - again" You laughed, pushing Harrison out of your way as you were on your way to the laser tag arena.
The two of you were pretty competitive and the fact that Tom and his brothers also joined you was going to make the game even more intense. Over the past two years you were used to all the shit talk that was going down between the games and you had become quite a pro at laser tagging, usually leaving Harrison far behind in the overall score.
Harrison was your best friend ever since he ran into you on a night out and almost made you greet the floor with your face. After he stopped apologizing, the two of you actually had a decent conversation which resulted in you leaving the club to grab a midnight snack. Up until this day it was still the funniest night you ever had in your life, because Harrison showed you his dorkiest side, making you cry from laughing too much. So, somehow he managed to literally run into your life from one minute to another, bringing Tom and his brothers with him.
"(Y/N), did you hit your head? Because you're talking so much bullshit, it's unreal." Harrison laughed throwing his arm around your shoulder, making you groan.
"Harrison, you've literally never won a game when I wasn't on your team, what makes you think you're going to win today?" You laughed, removing his arm from around you.
"She's got a point there, mate." Harry laughed, patting the blonde boy's shoulder.
"Are we playing three teams of two or two teams of three?" Tom asked when he came back with a piece of paper where you were supposed to put in your names.
"I wanna be with (Y/N)!" Paddy, the youngest of the Holland brother's, shouted, making you ruffle his hair.
"I'll take the Padster, still better than Harrison." You grinned at your best friend who sent a pout your way.
"That's very rude, but also very true." Tom laughed putting Harrison's name next to his own, teaming up Harry and Sam as well.
The six of you got the final instructions from the guy that was working at the arena before you were allowed to put on your vests and got sent off into the dimly lit arena.
"You're going down, (Y/N)." Harrison shouted as he followed Tom who was running in the opposite direction of where Paddy and you were headed. You lost track of where Harry and Sam went but they weren't really a competition, you just wanted to win against Harrison.
One round lasted 20 minutes and you were on a roll, shooting everyone that came your way and only getting hit a few times by Harry and Tom. Paddy was also doing quite well from what you could gather whilst paying attention to everything around you and running around the arena without running against a wall. You weren't surprised to see that the winners of round one were Paddy and you with Harry and Sam coming second and leaving Harrison and Tom in the last place.
"Told you I'd destroy you." You giggled as you exited the arena to take a break.
"Yeah, yeah, we'll see about the next game, Love." Harrison grinned before realizing that the pet name he had given you inside his head had escaped his lips for the first time.
"Love, aye? Did I miss something?" Harry grinned at the two of you who were currently blushing like crazy.
"You know, the three of us-" Harry continued before Tom jumped up from his seat next to you to put his hand in front of Harry's mouth.
"The three of you what?" Harrison narrowed his eyes at the Holland boys, making them avoid his glance and leaving you even more confused to what was going on right now.
What you didn't know, was that Harrison had the biggest crush on you ever since he ran into you for the first time. He felt like he never found the right time to tell you how he actually felt about you when you first started talking and now it was definitely too late to admit any feelings without destroying your friendship completely. You were now a part of his life and he wasn't planning on making you hate him for falling in love with you.
Before you started the second round, you decided to do teams of two again but you wanted to let the computer decide on who you were being paired with.
"Looks like you're going to win for once." You grinned at Harrison who's vest was lighting up in the same colour as your own, telling you that the two of you were the blue team.
"Let's destroy these idiots." He laughed, looking at the green team with Harry and Tom and the red team with Paddy and Sam before running off to find the best starting spot in the arena.
Harrison was playing like an absolute dork and ended up shooting you a few times, making you groan in annoyance every time he hit you. You were getting frustrated when he hit you for the fifth time.
"Are you shitting me? Are you trying to make me lose, you asshole?" You laughed as you shoved him out of your way, leaving him behind after hitting him on the back of his head.
The rest of the round went better than the first half. Harrison was actually trying to win for once in his life, but made you come second place after Harry and Tom.
"You actually suck, Harrison." You groaned as you exited the arena for the second time, this time not so victorious and there was only one person to blame.
"How many times did he shoot you? I swear I heard you shout at him like ten times." Sam laughed sitting down on the last free chair, leaving you without a seat.
"Let the lady sit down, you fuck." Tom laughed at his brother who just shrugged, not bothering to get up from his chair.
"Yeah, he could say the same to you." Paddy laughed, rolling his eyes, but also not bothering to stand up.
"Come here." Harrison shook his head at his friends before pulling you into his lap, making your face tint with a light blush when he put his arm around you as well. You were used to all the hugs and cuddles, but you never sat in his lap - and to your surprise you didn't mind at all.
"Always such a gentleman." Harry grinned at the two of you.
"Not everyone is a selfish kid like you, Harry." You laughed, flipping him off.
"Yeah, because Harrison is doing this oh so selfless, like he isn't benefitting from having you in his lap." Harry shot back. You felt Harrison stiffen next to you as you turned your head to look at him. You tried to hide your smile when you saw the blush on his face but something told you you failed horribly in doing so.
"You're so fucking cute together, my heart can't take it anymore." Sam laughed as he got up from his seat to walk back into the arena.
"We really are cute." Harrison grinned at you as you rolled your eyes before you got up from your comfortable seat in his lap, pulling him up with you.
"Doesn't matter, I'm still going to destroy you." You laughed as he threw his arm around you, pulling you into his side as you made your way back into the arena for your final game.
"So, did you just admit that we're cute together?" Harrison grinned at you as he put on his vest for the third time.
"No comment." You smiled at him, before you headed off towards the arena with Tom, your new teammate, following you. Harry had been paired with Sam again, leaving Harrison with Paddy.
During the first half of the game Harrison was way too distracted by the fact that you kind off admitted that the two of you were actually cute together or at least that was what he kept telling himself.
You were running towards where you thought Harry had been hiding when you felt a hand grab you and pull you into a corner where nobody could see you. Before you could react and shout at the person for scaring the shit out of you, you finally figured out who the person was, making you relax immediately.
"What are you doing?" You laughed at your best friend who's face was only inches away from your own. Somehow being this close to him never had had the effect it currently had on you. You felt your hands get sweaty and your heartbeat picking up its pace. Your eyes roamed his face, they went from his gorgeous blue eyes to the little crinkles around his eyes that appeared when he smiled and stopped when they reached his lips, wondering if they had always looked that soft or if the darkness made them look even more kissable.
"Something I should've done ages ago." He smiled as he placed his hand on you cheek, waiting for your reaction as his thumb was caressing the soft skin on your face.
"M- Maybe you should have." You felt yourself lean in, meeting his lips in the middle. You always laughed at people who described their first kiss with their partner as one of the most special things they had ever felt, but you swore you heard fireworks go off.
If Harrison's other hand wasn't holding onto your waist, your knees would've probably gone weak from all the emotions you were feeling in that moment. You felt yourself pulling him closer to you as you deepened the kiss. The two of you stood there for a few more seconds before you felt him pull away.
"Hey (Y/N), got you." He giggled, placing another soft kiss on your lips before shooting you, giving him enough time to run away and leaving you behind with a tingling feeling on your skin from his touch.
"I'm going to murder you, Osterfield." You shouted as you ran after him, firing your gun the second your light came back on.
During the rests of the game you didn't have a chance to think about what that kiss meant for your friendship. Did you really fall for your best friend without even realizing it? And did he actually feel the same?
As soon as the lights went back on and everyone took off their vests, you felt yourself getting more nervous with each second that passed.
"(Y/N)! How were you that bad? I looks like you didn't even play half of the game." Tom groaned when he saw that you came third, with Harry and Sam winning this round.
You couldn't hide the blush that crept onto your face as you just shrugged and walked out of the arena, avoiding to look into Harrison's eyes when you saw a little smile form on his face. By the time the six of you were ready to go home, you were a nervous mess, you couldn't stop your hands from shaking because you knew Harrison would be dropping you off at home since he picked you up before you drove here.
The two of you said your goodbyes before getting into Harrison's car, leaving you sitting awkwardly inside, neither of you saying a word.
"I'm sorry. I- I don't know, I - I, maybe I shouldn't have done that." Harrison was the first one to speak up.
"Did- didn't you say you should have done that ages ago?" You asked, finally looking at your best friend who was awkwardly fidgeting around with his fingers.
"Y-yeah, well, I- I mean, I really wanted to, but I don't know if you feel the same and - and I don't know what to say because I don't want to lose you because - because of my feelings for you." Harrison admitted, making your heart race by the thoughts of Harrison actually feeling something more than just friendship for you.
"W-What do you mean?"
"Might as well be honest, huh? Look, I've had the biggest crush on you since the day I ran into you. Like you're just so damn beautiful and amazing and - and I don't know, I just never found the right time to tell you." He finally looked at you, his blue eyes making your heart skip a beat.
"And you thought in the middle of a laser tag game was a good time to make a move?" You couldn't help yourself but let a giggle escape your lips.
"Yeah, I guess that was stupid, so yeah, I'm sorry?" He finally smiled at you.
"Definitely not the most romantic way - and it was rude to shoot me and run away. I - I really wasn't ready to let you go." You smiled at him, making his eyes go wide when he realized what you just said.
"What?"
"This was me giving you a hint, you dork." You laughed as you leaned over, connecting his lips with your own, only seconds before you heard the door of the car being yanked open and immediately slammed shut again.
"Harry! Sam! You owe me that damn beer! I told you they were locking lips during that game! They did it again!" You heard Tom shout outside the car after you pulled away from Harrison who was now shaking his head at his friend.
"Get fucking lost, Tom!" Harrison shouted after he opened his door to flip off the brunette boy.
"Proud of you, mate." You heard Tom shout back, only a split second before Harrison shut his door again.
"Sorry about this idiot." He laughed before smiling at you, "Where were we, Beautiful?"
