Be My Date?
Crushing on your best friend was not something you ever planned on doing. You had seen your friends start dating their best friends only for them to break up and never speak to each other again.
The best friends to lover trope was something that only happened in movies and books. It wasn't something that was going to happen to you, because your best friend wasn't just your usual best friend, he was Harrison Osterfield. Actor. Model. Idiot. And last but not least the owner of the face of an angel.
You wish you could quote that stupid John Green Quote everyone had posted back in 2012, but you didn't fall in love as you fell asleep, you would probably deny it if anyone asked but you fell hard before he even was your best friend. The minute you saw him standing across the dancefloor, you felt the world around you disappear, it felt like something important had happened, like something that was supposed to happen.
The boy with the blue eyes made your heart beat like crazy - until his girlfriend, well now ex girlfriend, wrapped his arms around him before leading him to their table where his mates where waiting for him.
You had fallen in and out of love with Harrison on the night you had met for the first time. You were waiting for drinks as it was your turn to buy the next round and Harrison was the one to buy the drinks for his group.
"Six Vodka Soda and one Coke please!" You heard someone shout next to you while you were impatiently tapping your foot, hoping that the bartender was almost done with your order.
You would've choked on your drink if you had one to choke on when you saw that it was the guy who had captured your attention from across the room. You hated yourself for wondering how soft his hair was, because you had literally seen him with his - probably - girlfriend.
"How long have you been waiting for? Seems like it's been a while?" You suddenly heard him say. As awkward as you were you turned around to see if he meant someone behind you, but there was no one there, "I'm talking to you." He grinned as you faced him again.
"Feels like it's been centuries." You laughed, not really knowing why he was talking to you, "I ordered here like 5 minutes before you arrived."
"Oh great, looks like you'll be my company for the next centuries then." He laughed as he held out his hand for you to shake, "I'm Harrison."
You spend the next five to ten minutes talking to Harrison while you were both waiting for your drinks to be ready and you enjoyed the conversation with him a lot, but soon enough you were walking away with you drinks as he made his way towards his friends, making you assume that you were never going to see the boy with the bright blue eyes again.
Weeks passed and you would be lying if you said you thought about Harrison again, but it almost seemed like destiny that you were asked to fly out to Italy to work as an Assistant Production Coordinator on the set of a new TV Series produced by the one and only George Clooney.
Production had been going on for about three weeks when you were handed a new script to give to the kid who was playing the role of Christopher Snowden. You had been told that he was currently trying on his Uniform, so you were headed in that direction.
Harrison Osterfield
Reading the name, your mind immediately had gone back to the gorgeous boy you had met on a night out only a few months ago. You wondered what he was doing right now and if you were ever going to see him again, but it was only a few minutes later that you had been able to answer both of those questions: He was getting dressed, and yes, you would definitely see him again.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I've got—" You entered the trailer where the kid was supposed to be only to be greeted by a six pack that you definitely didn't check out longer than you were supposed to, "Shit, I'm so sorry." You said as you turned back around, not even looking Harrison in the eye as you felt the heat creep up your cheeks.
"It's totally fine, give me a sec, putting on a shirt." You heard the boy say. His voice seemed familiar but you couldn't quite put a face to it, well, that was until he told you that it was okay to turn back around.
"I've got your Scr— Harrison?" Your eyes widened as you found out that this Harrison was indeed your Harrison. Well, not your Harrison, but the Harrison you knew and had just thought about.
"Now that's a nice surprise." The boy laughed, "Are you stalking me?"
"I've been here for three weeks, and I was at the bar before you, so who's the stalker now?" You grinned as you tossed him his script that he caught with a grin on his face.
"Maybe I am." He laughed, "Honestly, you don't know how nice it is to see a familiar face."
"Aren't you actors supposed to like, get along with everyone and be fine with working with new people all the time?"
"Maybe, but it's, uhm, kind of my first like real thing and usually I was just on set because of my best mate."
"Who's your best mate?"
"You're going to want to be my friend just because of my mate once I tell you." He said in a serious tone before his all too familiar grin appeared on his face again.
"Oh please, we've basically been friends for centuries already." You laughed, "But feel free not to tell me, I don't mind."
"It's Tom Holland." The blonde said, waiting for your reaction. Of course he was friends with fucking Spider-Man. Only gorgeous people were friends with gorgeous people.
"Huh? Never heard of him." You grinned as Harrison let out a laugh, "Maybe he'll swing by some time so I can meet him." You winked before you left the trailer.
Harrison was in Italy for about two weeks and it was safe to say that you were definitely going to see him again after work was over. You spent a lot of time together, going on fun road and boat trips with the crew on your time off.
He left, you stayed, but the two of you texted non stop and soon a lot of inside jokes were shared and he was telling you that he was looking forward to the day you were going to be back in London. It was only a few days after you touched down back home that you met up with Harrison again.
Your friendship was becoming one of the most valuable things in your life and after a few months, he was constantly reminding you that he was indeed your best friend to which you always rolled your eyes and told him you were only there to get to Spider-Man.
To your surprise Harrison hadn't been hesitant to introduce you to his girlfriend and friends - including Tom - which you insisted he didn't have to because the least you wanted anyone to think of you was that you were only there because you wanted to get to the famous one.
Soon enough the two of you were celebrating your one year BFF anniversary which Harrison insisted was the day you first saw his god-like body and you had to give it to him, he wasn't wrong.
Catch-22 premiered in a week and Harrison had just broken up with his girlfriend a few weeks ago. You were close friends with Tom by now, but somehow either Harrison had avoided spending time with her and you at the same time or she avoided you, but you were cool with that.
You were laying face down on your couch as you heard your front door open. You has given Harrison a key about a month ago because you he was stopping by so often, you were getting annoyed by simply getting up and walking to your front door.
"Honey I'm home." You heard him shout only seconds before he appeared next to you.
"I would've sent someone else to give you your script if I had known how clingy you were going to be." You mumbled into your pillow.
"Shut up." He laughed before you were forced to let out a groan as your best friend had dropped his full weight onto your back.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me? Get your stupid ass off me!"
"But you're comfy." He mumbled as you felt his hot breath next to your ear.
The boy wrapped his arms around you and moved behind you before he pulled you into his front, leaving you completely speech- and breathless. What was happening with you? Surely your stupid crush on the boy across the dancefloor hadn't come back, right?
You turned around in Harrison's arms until you were facing him, which was definitely worse because now, you were looking right into his blue eyes that still managed to pull you in.
"You okay?" You asked as you saw how tired he seemed to be. Your hand automatically went to his soft curls as he nodded and closed his eyes.
"Just need a nap," he mumbled, "and a date for the premiere next week."
"Too bad you just got dumped." You chuckled, making him open his eyes.
"You know I broke up with her, right?"
"Yeah, I know, but you never told me why, so I wasn't so sure if you weren't twisting the story a bit." You grinned.
"You're so funny." He rolled his eyes as he pulled you a bit closer so you had no other choice than to wrap your arms around him and rest your head against Harrison's chest.
You could feel his heart beat like crazy and to your own surprise, his heartbeat seemed to match yours. It was the moment you knew that your crush was back bigger than ever before and that there was no way that you'd be able to tell yourself that it was going away this time.
"Got any plans next week?" The boy mumbled into your hair before placing a kiss on top of it.
"Don't know, what day are we talking?"
"Jesus, you're making it very hard for me to ask you to be my date for the premiere." Harrison chuckled as your eyes widened. Wait, what?
"You know that I am going anyway right?"
"Yes, but I was wondering if you would like to come as my date." He asked as you pulled away from him to look him into his eyes.
"Define date." You were still confused what was going on right now.
Gorgeous people were supposed to ask gorgeous people on a date, and Harrison was so far out of your league it was ridiculous.
"Date, as in, I broke up with my girlfriend two months ago because I realised my feelings for you were growing like crazy." He smiled as your mouth fell open. Way to be awkward, dumbass.
"Oh shit." You said as you let out a laugh, "I was kind of hoping to start dating Spider-Man in a bit."
"I should have never introduced the two of you. That was definitely my fault." He laughed, "But are you going to give me an answer or are you going to break my heart."
"This is a lot of pressure you're putting on me." You grinned as your hand found its way into the curls you loved.
"Oh shut up, as if this wasn't going to happen at some point from the day I first saw you across the dancefloor."
"Wait, the same happened to you?"
"I had just started dating Sophia and I really liked her, but something about this girl across the dancefloor made me offer to be the next to go buy the drinks. It was confusing, but yes, it happened to me as well." He smiled as his thumb traced your lips.
"I need to check my calendar if I'm free for that date." You grinned.
"You just fucking told me you will be there with or without me as your date, you dumbass." Harrison laughed.
"Guess there is no reason to say no then." You smiled as you felt yourself lean in, waiting to see if Harrison was going to meet you in the middle.
You were glad to see that he didn't leave you hanging as his lips collided with your own, making you realise that the best friends to lovers trope wasn't just a movie thing - and that it was so much better than any book could ever describe it.
