Babysitting Duties

Coming home from a trip to his family's house, Harrison unlocked the front door to the sound of kids music playing which was fairly odd considering he usually came home to your Drake or Post Malone Playlist playing and not some kids sing along songs.

Walking into the kitchen he found you walking around with a child in your arms, holding him with one arm while mixing some dough with your other hand.

"When were you thinking about telling me about our child?" Harrison grinned when he leaned against the door frame watching the two of you work your way around the kitchen.

Harrison and you had moved in together 6 months ago after Harrison had decided to get his own place in London. He had soon realized that he wasn't able to afford any of the places without a roommate. That's when he met you on a night out with friends. Hearing you complain about the rents in London, he felt like it was a good idea to ask you if the two of you wanted to get a place together - of course you agreed, seeing it was hard to get an affordable place on your own. One of your mutual friends told you that Harrison was a nice guy, so there was nothing speaking against it.

"You're so funny!" You rolled your eyes but smiled at your roommate who was still just standing there watching the two of you.

"So, who's the little one?" Harrison smiled and moved towards you to greet the child in your arms.

"Wanna tell Harrison who you are?" you asked the boy.

"Liam." The toddler smiled but buried his head in your shoulder soon after.

"Hi Liam, nice to meet you! I'm Harrison, how old are you?" The blonde boy smiled at the kid and squished his cheeks a little.

"He's almost three now and he's my nephew. My parents weren't able to look after him, so.. I'm his babysitter for the day and the night." you explained after Liam didn't answer Harrison's question. Of course you had talked to him about your family life and all that, but it wasn't like he knew all of the names and their relations between each other. The boy knew your parents, and had seen your sister a few times, but usually the two of you went over to your parents' houses.

"And he wanted cookies, but I ate all of our cookies last night, so.. here I am trying to make cookies with a clingy child in my arms."

"You look like you need some help" Harrison laughed as he took the bowl and started mixing the dough.

"Can I twy?" Liam mumbled as he watched Harrison use the whisk to mix everything up.

"Do you want to try mixing the dough?" Harrison smiled and held out the bowl as Liam nodded.

"See, now you take the whisk, and you mix all of the things in there until it looks like cookie dough." He handed Liam the whisk and the little boy started stirring the dough. After Liam didn't want to stir anymore, Harrison took over again while you prepared the baking trays.

"Thanks for helping, Harrison." you smiled after you put the trays in the oven.

"Thans fo hewping Hawison." Liam giggled and poked the boys leg which usually was a sign for the other one to pick him up.

"Do I pick him up now?" Harrison asked, looking at you.

"Come here buddy. What do you wanna do now?" he picked the little boy up after you nodded. Feeling already comfortable in Harrison's arms, the toddler buried his face in the blonde boys shoulder.

"Are you tired, Li?" you asked, putting a hand on the boys back. What you didn't realized was how close you had gotten to Harrison while doing that. The two of you harboured the biggest crushes on each other but there has always been this unspoken rule of not getting too close to each other. Making a move or start dating would make this whole living together situation so much weirder if it ended up not working out.

"No! Games!" Liam giggled, making Harrison laugh as well.

"Alright, buddy, what do you want to play?"

"You don't have to do this." you said, earning a confused look from your roommate "No, like, if you have any plans tonight-"

"- I don't, it's all good." The boy smiled and followed you out in the living room where he already saw some of Liam's toys sprawled out on the floor. Feeling your phone buzz in your pocket, you asked Harrison if he was okay with looking after Liam for a few minutes. It was your sister calling to check if everything was alright with her son. After you had told her that Harrison was currently playing with the kid, you could hear a teasing tone in her voice already. She liked your roommate, although she's only met him a few times. But he's so handsome! You should definitely get in on that, were her usual words - and she was right, Harrison was handsome, with his blue eyes and his blonde hair, you wanted nothing more than to run your hands through his soft curls.

Seeing him with Liam on your living room floor made the butterflies in your stomach go crazier than usual. Standing in the doorway looking at the two of them and seeing the way he was playing with your little nephew brought thoughts of him taking care of his own children - your own children - in your head.

Snapping out of your thought when Harrison smiled at you and motioned for you to come join them, you sat down next to Liam and opposite Harrison.

"I never knew you were this good with kids." you laughed as you handed Liam another toy.

"I have my ways with kids, somehow they seem to adore me and I have no idea why."

"Yeah, me neither." you smirked and Harrison started pouting before throwing one of Liam's stuffed toys at you.

"That's wude!" Liam giggled and tried punching Harrison's leg.

"He may like you, but he loves me." you giggled as your roommate looked offended over the fact that Liam was willing to punch him for you.

After that Harrison went back to being super nice to you. The three of you ate some cookies, played more with Liam's toys and ran around the flat playing hide and seek until it got later and later to the point where Liam couldn't stop yawning.

"It's time for bed, Liam, okay?" you asked and Liam was almost too tired to shake his head.

"Come on, sweetie." you picked the boy up and Harrison got up from his place next to the little boy.

"Hawison, come with me." the boy whined as he saw that Harrison didn't follow you into your bedroom.

"I will be sleeping in the other room buddy, you'll see me tomorrow morning, okay?" Harrison moved towards the two of you to give the boy a little cuddle.

"No! Hawison come with us." Liam pouted and you couldn't help yourself but giggle.

"Come on, wanna help me bring him to bed?" you asked your roommate who smiled and nodded.

"Do you want me to tell you a bedtime story?" you asked as Liam looked at the two of you.

"No, Hawison." He smiled his brightest smiled at the blonde boy who's heart almost couldn't take the cuteness of your nephew.

"You've got to be kidding me." you giggled as Harrison started telling the kid a story about how there once was a normal boy from London who ended up being Spider-Man. You shook your head at the boy who couldn't stop talking about his best friend even when telling a toddler a bedtime story.

Putting the little boy into bed, Harrison left to go to his room and you got yourself ready for bed. It was around 2am when you woke up to a soft knock on your door. Shooting up from your bed, you realized Liam wasn't next to you. A split second later your door opened and you saw Harrison standing in your doorframe with Liam in his arms.

"I found someone standing next to my bed." Harrison laughed.

"I really should've locked that door." You shook your head, hopping out of bed to get Liam and put him back to bed.

"No. Hawison sleep with us." the toddler refused to be carried to bed by you and held on to Harrison as if his life depended on it.

"Are you serious?"

"Hawison sleep with us." the kid said again and made you shake your head at your grinning roommate.

"Well, then you have to ask him if he wants to sleep here with us."

"Hawison! Sleep with us!" Liam was excited to see you give in and showed Harrison a perfectly practiced puppy face.

"Is that alright with you?" Harrison asked shyly, not knowing what to do. You had never spend the night together and he was sure that this was definitely crossing the invisible border the two of you had put up.

"Yeah, sure, it's not like he's going anywhere without you." You groaned as Harrison started laughing and making his way towards your bed with the child still in his arms.

"Told you I had my way with kids. They all seem to be very impressed by my charm." He grinned at you as he crawled under the sheets next to Liam who was now lying between the two of you.

"Shut it." You laughed turning off the light.

"Goodnight Liam. Goodnight (Y/N)." Harrison whispered as the three of you drifted off to sleep.

__

You woke up to the sound of Liam's giggles. Opening your eyes you saw your nephew lying next to you playing with his dog plushy while Harrison was still asleep. Gosh, he looked beautiful in the soft morning light that fell through your window. You looked at the clock and realized that it was only 7am, definitely not a time either of you usually woke up.

"Tow me in the air like mummy!" Liam giggle when he saw that you were awake. Picking up the little boy, you started throwing him up in the air and catching him soon after, making him giggle even more.

Somehow Harrison seemed to have noticed the absence of the boy next to him, so he moved closer to you, his arm sneaking around your middle and pulling you closer. With Liam still being held up in your arms, you stopped dead in your tracks, your heart started beating like crazy as you looked over to the blonde boy who was still in a deep slumber. It wasn't that you didn't feel comfortable in his arms, it was quite the opposite, you felt more than comfortable and you felt like it was something you could get used to.

You had put Liam down on your other side since there was now no space between Harrison and yourself when Harrison began to wake up. You felt him stiffen when he realized it wasn't Liam he was cuddling in his sleep.

"Hawison!" Liam almost shouted when he saw the blonde boy open his eyes.

"Morning, buddy." He grinned as he saw Liam get out of bed to run over to his side. He crawled onto the bed and threw himself into Harrison's arms. Arms, that had just been hugging you - arms, you already missed.

"Morning." He smiled at you with a little blush on his cheeks, thinking about the position in which he had just woken up.

"Morning." You answered, the two of you just staring at each other without saying anything else before laughing at Liam who had started poking Harrison's cheeks until his attention was back on the child.

"Food?" Liam asked after he had told Harrison all about his plushy.

The three of you made your way to the kitchen where Harrison kept your nephew busy while you made some food for you. Sitting in the kitchen with Liam talking about something that randomly ended up in his brain, filling the silence here and there, you didn't realize how much your heart was beating when your mind went back to the feeling of Harrison's arms around your middle.

"You alright?" Harrison smiled at you as he caught you staring at him. A blush immediately crept onto your face.

"Yeah, all good." You smiled before looking away, too embarrassed to look the boy in his eyes.

After you had finished breakfast it was already time for your sister to pick up her son. You opened the door and let her and her husband inside your flat.

"Where's my son? Please tell me you didn't lose him?" Your brother-in-law laughed as he didn't spot his son next to you.

"He's playing with Harrison. Good luck getting him home without bringing Harrison with you." You laughed as they followed you into the living room.

"Mummy! Daddy!" Liam shouted and immediately ran over to his parents.

"Oops, looks like he likes them more than you." You laughed, standing next to Harrison.

"I would be concerned if he didn't like his parents more than me."

"But he likes you more than me." You pouted which made Harrison put his arm around you and pull you into his side. There it was again - the feeling of happiness shooting through your body, the same feeling you had felt earlier this morning.

"Thank -" your sister started and stopped when she saw Harrison's arm around you. "Thank you two for taking care of him." she finished her sentence before shooting you a way too obvious wink. You felt yourself blushing again.

"He's a great kid." Harrison smiled while his arm still rested around your back.

"Thank you." your sister smiled "Come on, sweetie, time for you to say goodbye to aunt (Y/N) and uncle Harrison." She was way too proud about the fact that she had just called your roommate uncle Harrison.

"Bye aunt (Y/N) and uncle Hawison." Liam giggled and ran over to the both of you, pulling you to in a hug before running back to his dad who picked him up.

"Thanks again for taking care of him. I'm pretty sure he'll be back soon." Your sister laughed.

"Can I come tomowow?" Liam asked and used his puppy face again.

"We'll call them later and ask them if they're free tomorrow okay, Li?" Your brother-in-law laughed. "Alright, guys, see you soon then."

The three of them walked towards the front door when your sister turned around.

"Be safe.. mum isn't ready for another grandchild." She grinned and winked at Harrison and you.

"(Y/S/N)!" You shouted as she closed the door behind her. You could still hear her laughing from outside the door. It was safe to say that your face was more than just red.

Harrison put his arm back around you, speeding up your pulse.

"You know, I could get used to waking up next to you in the morning." You felt him smile against your temple before placing a soft kiss on it - leaving your skin tingling.

"Hmm, me too." You smiled as he put his finger under your chin, pulling you in for a sweet kiss - a kiss that was the start of the rest of your life with Harrison who would become the father of your own children only a few years later.
