Husband!Harrison Osterfield x Reader (Forced Marriage AU!)
Summary: In this life, he didn't love you. And you just wanted him to be happy.
It was the worst kiss of your life...
When his lips touched yours, you knew he didn't want you...
No feelings, no emotions...
Maybe he only kissed you because the priest said so...
It was the day of your wedding...
It was the day, you took his last name...
It didn't mean you loved him...
It didn't mean he loved you...
It was merely a business deal...
And you both knew it...
~•~
Your dad, the owner of one of the leading pharmaceutical industries wanted a strong partnership with his rival industry- The Osterfields...
What better than a marriage between their children could make this partnership bloom?
And so, you were left with no other choice than to marry Harrison Osterfield and you could tell he was on the same page as you.
Everything was right with Harrison.
But that doesn't mean that everything was right with your relationship with him. Yet, you both agreed, two strangers agreed to marry each other... The Y/ln and Osterfield had a great connection with the Mobs and none of you wanted them to get involved in it.
Maybe... Maybe you will fall in love with him.
Maybe... Maybe he will fall in love with you.
It happens in movies, right?
At least that was what you wished.
Wished that he wished it too...

"Hey Haz-Harrison, I made your favourite dish---"
"Ah, sorry I ate at Tom's... I am pretty tired too, so going to sleep."
This was basically the routine. He tried to keep as much distance as he could from you. As if... As if, you were some kind of virus which has infected his life.
For almost one month of getting married you two used to sleep at the extreme ends of the bed, didn't talk much. Nothing was bad or abusive because he wasn't bad, he never yelled at you, he never hurt you. At least that's what it felt. But the hurt isn't just physical. The feeling of living in a love-less relationship hurts... It hurts you and you were sure it hurts him too.
With time your sexual needs made you both get intimate, long days of work and loneliness made you both talk. But still, none of it felt satisfying. It lacked warmth.
It lacked the warmth because he fell in love. Not with you with her...
And it didn't take much time for you to realise.

It was almost a year of your marriage and you had to accompany him to some family functions, the inevitable gatherings.
And sometimes he had his office staff or work friends join the function too, like this time.
You and he were sitting in the dining area, eating dinner with your families when you realised he wasn't eating at all. You looked up, glanced at his face. His eyes were forced on something or maybe someone. His eyes seemed dull whenever he looked at you, but that day they looked bigger, brighter. You followed his gaze to know what was making them spark. They landed on a woman whom you recognized from his office. She was his colleague, sitting on the other table giggling with some more of his colleagues. Her eyes met her for a split second and you saw his face lit up with a beautiful smile.
The smile that you always craved for, the smile you wanted to be the reason for.
But guess, you could never because she was right there.
You ignored it, concentrating back on your food as the function continued. With the course of the day, your mind didn't leave Harrison and her.
The same week, you and Harrison were having sex and his lips left a word- Snow.
It was her name... Harrison was imagining Snow with him, it was not you, leading you to fake an orgasm and after that, you were sure you lost any and all interest in making love with him. It wasn't 'love' after all.
He didn't notice what he said, but now you knew his secret.

In an office get together, you saw her again. Snow was talking to someone cheerfully and Harrison was eyeing at them. He gripped your waist, squeezing it a little, his eyes furious and on her.
He was jealous. And you weren't the reason. He wanted her.
After a few minutes, you saw Harrison and Snow finally talking to each other. Harrison had the same glow in his eyes as that day. His smile was genuine and beautiful.
That day you realised one thing- Harrison Osterfield will never cheat on you. And a man like him doesn't deserve not to be loved or kept away from his love.
You will not let him suffer. You had taken your decision, that very day.

A few days later you were ready to confront him. You returned from your workplace completely prepared with all the documents you needed.
He was sitting on the couch watching a show when you decided to put forward your decision. You walked gently from your bedroom and stood just behind him taking a deep breath as you rolled the papers in your hand forming a cylinder.
You faked coughed getting his attention and walked right in front of him.
"Huh?" He asked mindlessly, eyes still on TV.
"Just had an important thing to discuss," you said, grip once again tightened on the papers.
"I am pretty tired; can we just talk tomorrow?" He said glancing at you and then back on the TV.
"Maybe... Maybe we never have to talk ever again."
As those words left your lips, his attention shifted from the TV to you. The confusion was evident on his face. The way he was staring at you, made you much more nervous than you had ever anticipated. Taking a deep breath, you took a seat on the other end of the couch. You slowly unrolled the papers passing them to him.
"What this?" He said, taking a look at it. For like five seconds he just stared at the papers, his facial expressions unreadable making you shift uncomfortably on your seat.
"What the hell is this?" His voice was breathy as he looked at you, pointing at the papers.
"I-uh. I think you and Snow---"
"You think I'm cheating on you?" His voice was a bit louder which made you instantly correct him.
"NO, NO... I never said that." You shifted towards him keeping a hand on his, looking him in the eye, the blue from the TV screen shining on his irises.
You gulped continuing, "It's just... I totally support you. I don't want to come in between your happiness."
"What do you mean?" His voice was almost like a whisper, the sound from the TV no more bothering.
"It's-It's... I can see that you like her. Maybe even love her and it's not a secret that we don't love each other. I think we should stop trying to make this relationship work because it's not meant to work. We are not meant to be..." You finish wiping away your tears, sniffing.
You could clearly see the movements in his Adam's apple.
"But, it feels... weird. Won't it feel weird suddenly not having anything---"
"We never had anything Harrison. Never. We never even cuddled, we never laughed together, our presence never made the other smile. Nothing felt the way others describe they feel in love. We made a mistake agreeing to our parent's 'deal', but we still have our lives, we can change this, fall in love, live our life with the right person. I mean you already have someone, I'll find someone too."
Tear whelped in the corner of his eyes as he hugged you. You could hear him sniffle loudly and you let him.
"It's just Stockholm syndrome Haz. You know it. We aren't meant to be. You deserve to live, you deserve to love. We can't destroy our lives like this."
His grip tightened as you ran your hand all along his back as he cried on your shoulder.
You didn't expect him to react this way, but you were crying too. Can't blame him.
"I'm sorry Y/n, I never appreciated you. I never made you feel loved..." He said in between sobs.
"It's fine, it's fine." You ran a hand through his hair, "But you can love her, make her feel loved." Your voice got softer pulling away giving him a small smile, his cheeks stained with tears.
You slowly cupped his face in your hands planting a kiss on his forehead.
"You like her, right?"
He looked at you, but you didn't break the eye contact making him surrender.
So, he hummed and nodded in response.
You picked up the divorce papers that fell on the floor and handed them back to him.
"It will make everything right. We can be friends after that. I mean only if you want." You wiped away his tears holding his hands in yours.
It was much more difficult than you thought, but after a whole year of marriage, it felt to be the only right decision you ever made.
It was right for him and it was right for you.
There were no more strings attached and it felt right.
No more restrictions...
You can now find the person that you were meant to be with.
Because in this life...You two were not meant to be together...
