Post Vampire

They made it downstairs after the sun came up. This was their middle of the night but Harper wasn't tired. Harper was full of energy. Anders was holding onto him and he was never letting go. Never. He led Harper into the kitchen where everyone had gathered. He sighed. His dad was there and Anders wasn't looking forward to this.

Krista dove at Harper and hugged him hard. "Oh, thank you so much! I'm so sorry and so grateful that you saved Anders." She was in tears. Harper hugged her back. "I'm glad you are okay!" Harper let go. "Are you okay?" You're not mad, are you?"

Harper smiled at Krista. "No. Of course not. I told Charlie to do it. I knew what I was doing, Krista. It's okay. I'm okay right now. Just getting used to things. I'm going to need some time to adjust but I'm fine. Sorry to scare you. Actually, we should all blame Anders!"

Anders just laughed.

Charlie walked up and hugged Harper. "Thanks isn't enough, Harper. You saved my best friend." He pulled away and hugged Anders.

Lee smiled and hugged Harper right behind Charlie. "Thanks, Harper. I still think you deserve better than Anders but thanks." Lee smiled and winked. He hugged Anders also.

Harper smiled. "I know I'm too good for him but what the hell." He smiled at Anders.

Anders glared at Harper. "I hate you so much." He pulled his man in for a kiss and sighed. He let go and looked at his dad for the first time. "Jack."

"Anders." The man stood in the kitchen with a group of vampires and didn't look nervous. Harper found that curious. "Look, I'm..." He looked at his feet and sighed.

"I think we have something to do." Lee stated and took Krista's hand. Charlie followed.

Harper began to leave and Anders grabbed his hand. "Stay. Please. Jack, this is Harper. I'm going to marry him and I thought you should meet. Harper, this is Jack."

Harper smiled at Jack. "Hello. Sorry but I think I'll keep my distance for now. It's nice to meet you, Jack."

Harper could feel the heat of Jack's body and feel his pulse. He could feel his pulse through the air. He forced his fangs to retract. He didn't want to hurt his father-in-law. Harper looked at Anders. "I had no idea what it was like. How did you not kill me?"

"I thought about it a lot." Anders gave Harper his best devilish grin.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Harper. Thanks for saving Anders." Jack smiled at the couple. They were really cute together and he wanted to ask some questions but they weren't that close.

Anders was getting annoyed. "Really? I figured you would be grateful if I died."

Harper was uncomfortable. He knew this was going to get bad. Anders had a lot of issues with his dad that were unresolved.

"Really? I never wanted to see you die! You are my son and..." Jack was interrupted.

"What?" Anders was stunned and getting more pissed. "You don't care about me! You abandoned me when I was turned and told me that I wasn't your son. I remember that like it was yesterday. What are you talking about? You are not grateful! You hate me and always have. I was crushed when mom died because she was our cushion and I was only eight at the time. You never really talked to me after her funeral."

"I know." Jack whispered. There was a lot to tell his son. "I should have told you some things years ago, you and Patrick. I sent you away for your own good. I had to. If they found out that you were a vampire, they would have killed both of us. I couldn't risk it."

There was a knock at the door before anyone could process what Jack just said. "Open up." A voice demanded.

Harper gasped. He knew that voice. Hale was banging on the front door. "What is Hale doing here?" He walked to the door and opened the door. "Hale?"

"Harper? Are you okay?" Hale wasn't sure how anything had turned out with Harper. His phone was out of order. Hale had no one to call.

"Hale?" Harper stared. "Yes. What are you doing here? It's great to see you."

Hale hugged Harper. "It's great to see you, Doll. Are you okay?" Harper nodded. "I want to talk more later but right now...Uh, I'm here for Jack. Excuse me, Harper." He pushed past Harper straight to the kitchen. "Jack?"

"Hale." Jack looked at the new vampire in his house. "I tried to convince them that vampires weren't real but Hale, the one in charge is crazy." Jack looked worried. "I never knew who the target was until it was too late. I tried. I was so scared."

"I know. At least we didn't fail. I have all of the names of the members but I need to know who the leader is." Hale put the paper on the table and sat down. "Forbes didn't know the leader and I need to know if he is on here."

Jack took the list and read through it. His name was on there, well, his fake name.

"What in the fuck is going on?" Anders asked. He didn't have time or patience for eloquent words, so they were getting the big f word.

"Harper, this is where Eve sent you?" Hale looked at the couple.

"What in the hell is going on?" Harper didn't want to be nice either.

Hale looked at Harper. He was clearly a vampire so there were parts of the story that Hale didn't know. He was at work when Harper called looking for Blair. He hadn't got to talk to his wife yet. Last he knew, Harper threatened to haunt him if he didn't help. "Okay. I need some answers also."

"He saved me." Anders felt that clarified their side of the story. "Now, what the fuck is going on?"

"Easy with the f word." Hale smiled. "You are?"

"Anders."

Hale looked at Jack and Jack nodded.

"Well, Jack has been undercover in a hate group for vampires for quite a while. They fancy themselves as vampire hunters. He was giving us information. This group is tough to track. They are sneaky and conniving. They find anyone that they think is a vampire and kill them. Lots of humans have died in their quest. They are getting closer to figuring things out and we needed to stop them. Jack has been working with us. Anders." He still wasn't sure who Anders was.

Jack looked at his son and back to the list of names and read while he talked. He didn't want to look at Anders. "When you were turned I had no choice but to send you off. I knew they would know about you or they would find out and kill us both. I couldn't risk you so I figured better to have you pissed at me than dead." Jack finished.

"This one." Jack pointed to a name on the list. "This is the leader. He is crazy and I don't know much about him. He stays hidden and doesn't say much. He gives out assignments and no one argues."

"Wait? What?" Anders couldn't be more confused. "You sent me away to save me? I don't understand and I'm going to need a minute to fucking process this! You are a good guy? You are working with Hale? You're Hale? Harper's Hale?" Anders was getting light headed.

"Easy, Son. Yes. I have worked with Hale for a long time. I'm sorry that I didn't let you in on any of this. I didn't know what to say. I figured that Eve would tell you something. She knew. " Jack started.

"Eve is missing, Dad." Anders stared at his dad. Hale stared. He didn't know that Jack had a son that was a vampire. Anders didn't know this man at all. "You realize that I didn't know vampires even existed when I was turned. I could have used a little heads up!"

"Sorry about that. Would you have believed me?" Jack asked and stared at Anders. Anders shook his head. There was no changing the past. "Eve is missing? What? When? How?" He glared at Hale. "Why in the fuck did nobody tell me!? Hale, you should have told me. What happened?" Jack was angry that he didn't have all the information.

Harper almost smiled. He could see a resemblance when Jack cursed. He reminded him of Anders. Jack was the same height but he had lots of blonde hair with streaks of gray and clear blue eyes. Jack had very similar facial features as Anders. He was nice looking for a human.

Wow. That was a natural thought. Harper never thought like that because he had always been human. He was a vampire now.

Harper spoke up. "We don't know what happened. Eve was taken from her home. And there are a lot of questions unanswered."

"And who are you that you know anything about Eve?" Jack began. "You were just turned. You don't know jack shit!" Jack stared at Harper and dared him to speak again.

Anders was between his dad and Harper. He hissed at his dad. "Harper is Eve's son." He wasn't letting anyone threaten his man. He felt a very strong urge to keep Harper safe and he had no idea where it came from.

Harper touched Anders' arm. "Hey. I don't need a neanderthal to protect me, calm down."

XxxAnders turned to him and smiled. "Sorry. I...it was a reflex." He turned to his dad. "Sorry about that. I'm a neanderthal." He wrapped himself around his girl and smelled her hair.

"Eve has a daughter?" Jack was blown away and more than confused.

"Uh, yes. She rescued me. Raised me. I know her but I don't know who took her and how. Or why." Harper closed her eyes and leaned into Anders. She felt so loved that he was so protective.

"Well, the Center Council is searching for answers and the East Council is being silent. They are being audited." Hale began and sighed.

"Eve sent me to Anders and then I discovered that this was really you. She sent me to you and left me some weird memory stick that I can't access." Harper sighed.

"What memory stick?" Hale and Jack asked at the same time.

"I have it hidden." Harper didn't know who to trust.

Hale looked at Harper. "You don't trust me?"

"No. Of course not. I have no idea what's going on. Someone trashed my hotel room looking for the stick, I am assuming. No one knew where I was. No one. Hale you are everywhere and you seem to know everything. And I don't know Anders' dad at all. Hell, Anders doesn't know his dad. Sorry, Jack." Harper was nervous.

"I know this must seem strange. I'm not behind anything. Harper you know me. I'm really just trying to find Eve. Jack and I have nothing to do with her disappearance. Harper." Hale pleaded. "We need to find her. We need to see that memory stick. Please."

"I know however, that means that I trust you because I know you. I trust Anders." Harper wanted to be clear. It took Jack and Hale a lot of pleading and promises before Harper agreed to show them the stick. Lee, Krista and Charlie were back and they were back up.

Anders wanted to make sure everyone was safe. Pierce joined them but he was on the phone with an editor and a producer.

They had music to make in a month, another record to record and a couple of videos to make. Pierce was no help right now. Anders thought about sending him home but he wanted to make sure everything was safe first. He hated this shit.

They sat around the dining room table staring at a memory stick that looked like it belonged in the future. "That is interesting." Jack said.

Anders just laughed. "Sure. That's kind of what I said."

Harper smiled. "I need to check in with Zane."

"Oh, right.. I haven't gotten you a new phone with everything going on. I forgot and I've been working." Pierce said with a smile. He was back on his phone securing dates.

Nothing was getting done tonight and Harper was getting tired. No. hungry. "Uh. I think I'm hungry." Harper stated.

"Oh shit. Harper. I'm sorry. Let's go hunt for some food." Anders winked. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking about you being new. You must be starving." He took her hand and they walked out the back door.

The sun was still up. There was a huge woods behind Jack's house. It was pretty out here. "Come on. Run with me. Let's be vampires!" He was excited to hunt with him and be himself. Finally.
