chapter thirty seven

Ava POV

Namjoon stood by my side, his tall frame casting a protective shadow over the bed. His eyes were bloodshot from lack of sleep, and his face was a mask of worry. He kept his hand on my arm, offering a silent vow of protection. Occasionally, he would glance at the door, as if willing the doctors to hurry up with their updates. I lay in bed fading in and out of consciousness as the boys filed into the room.

“Please, just be okay,” Namjoon muttered, his voice barely audible. “We need you.” he said as he gently placed a hand in my forehead.

Yoongi, usually so composed and detached, was visibly shaken. He sat in a corner of the room, his gaze fixed on the floor. His hands were clenched into fists, and his jaw was set in a tight line. The usually stoic rapper was showing a vulnerability he rarely displayed.

“I’m sorry, Ava,” he whispered, his voice cracking.

“I should have noticed something was wrong" he further said, making me shake my head. It wasn't his fault. None of us knew that our romantic getaway was about to take such a dark turn.

Jin, always the caring one, was perhaps the most visibly distressed. He paced the room, his hands running through his hair in frustration. Every now and then, he would pause to gently touch my hand or brush a stray lock of hair from my face. His face was streaked with tears, and his attempts to remain strong only made his concern more evident.

“Hang in there, Ava,” Jin said softly, his voice trembling.

“We’re all here for you.”  he said gently as he have me a small smile as when he saw me focus my eyes on him.

Jimin’s distress was particularly intense. He sat by my bedside, his face buried in his hands as he tried to hold back his tears. When he wasn’t holding my hand or brushing it gently, he was speaking softly to me, trying to provide some comfort,

“I should have been more careful,” Jimin said, his voice breaking.

“I never wanted this to happen.” he said as he tried to wipe his tears. I wanted to give him a hug, but the poison in my body had left me so weak rendering me useless.

Hobi, with his usual warmth, was offering quiet support to the group. He was constantly on the move, fetching coffee or supplies, and trying to keep the atmosphere calm. He would occasionally sit beside me, offering a gentle smile and a few encouraging words.

“We’re all in this together,” Hobi said softly to the group.

“We just need to stay strong.” he added as he gently patted Jimin on his back trying to offer him some support

Taehyung’s worry was intense, his usual playful demeanor replaced by a deep concern. He hovered near the door, his eyes darting around as if expecting more danger. His hands were shaking slightly, and his voice was strained as he tried to reassure the others.

“She’s going to be okay,” Taehyung said, though his voice betrayed his fear.

“you have  to be.” he said as he looked at me with his bloodshot eyes.

Despite the heavy security surrounding the area, it became clear that someone had followed through with the threats. The hospital staff and security were on high alert, but the threat had breached their defenses. The realization that the danger was still present only added to the boys’ anxiety.

The police were involved, investigating the source of the threats and trying to determine how they had managed to bypass the security measures. The atmosphere in the hospital was tense, filled with a sense of impending danger and the need for vigilance

As the hours passed, the boys and I were surrounded by a heightened sense of insecurity. The realization that someone had managed to get close enough to poison my food was a sobering reminder of the risks we faced. Despite the hospital’s efforts to secure the premises, the threat remained a chilling reality.

The boys’ fear was palpable, their concern growing with each passing minute. They were determined to keep me safe and to find out who was behind the threats. Their protective instincts were on high alert, and their vigilance only deepened their resolve to ensure my safety.

The incident had taken a toll on all of us, but it had also strengthened our bond. The boys’ protective nature and their unwavering support were a testament to the love and care they had for me. The threats had brought us closer together, and we were united in our determination to face the danger head-on.

As I lay in the hospital bed, my strength slowly returning, I could feel the warmth of their support and the depth of their commitment. The challenges we faced were daunting, but with the boys by my side, I knew we could overcome anything.

The danger was far from over, and the investigation was just beginning, but we were determined to stay strong and to protect each other. The threats had cast a dark shadow over our lives, but our love and resilience would light the way forward
