Chapter seventeen

The early morning light filtered through the sheer curtains of the master bedroom, casting a soft glow across the room. I awoke before the rest of the boys, my mind already buzzing with thoughts of what I wanted to do for them. I had promised myself that I would make the first day in our new home special, and I had an idea that I hoped would be a pleasant surprise.

Quietly, I slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb Jungkook, who was sprawled comfortably beside me. I dressed in a simple pair of pajamas and made my way to the kitchen, my heart fluttering with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. The boys had been so warm and welcoming, and I wanted to show my appreciation by preparing a breakfast that I hoped they’d enjoy.

The kitchen was still and serene, the only sounds being the occasional hum of the refrigerator and the soft rustling of the morning breeze. I set about gathering ingredients for a vegetarian breakfast, pulling out fresh vegetables, eggs, and some whole grain bread. As I began chopping and preparing, I lost myself in the rhythm of cooking, the comforting familiarity of the task soothing my nerves.

The aroma of sautéing vegetables filled the kitchen, and I was so engrossed in my work that I didn’t notice Jin quietly waking up and slipping into the kitchen behind me. He was still in his pajamas, his hair tousled and his eyes heavy with sleep. When he spotted me at the stove, a sleepy smile spread across his face.

“Good morning, Ava,” Jin said softly, his voice warm and soothing. “It smells amazing in here.”

I turned to him, a smile lighting up my face. “Good morning, Jin. I thought I’d surprise the guys with a homemade breakfast. I hope you don’t mind me starting without you.”

Jin shook his head, stepping closer to me. “Not at all. I’m actually glad you did. Let me help.”

I nodded, grateful for the company. As Jin began to assist me with the preparations, the kitchen became a cozy, intimate space filled with the sounds of our soft conversation and the sizzle of ingredients cooking. Jin’s presence was comforting, and his gentle manner put me at ease.

“Need any help with anything?” Jin asked, his hands deftly chopping vegetables.

“Actually, if you could help me with the toast and set the table, that would be great,” I replied, focusing on scrambling the eggs.

Jin moved to the counter and began arranging the plates and utensils, his movements deliberate and practiced. I couldn’t help but notice the way he occasionally brushed against me as he worked—his hand grazing my waist or his arm lightly brushing against my butt as he reached for something. Each touch sent a pleasant shiver down my spine, and I found myself blushing as I tried to concentrate on the task at hand.

“So,” Jin said, his voice low and playful as he set the table. “How are you finding Korea so far? Is there anything you’re excited about?”

I looked up from the stove, meeting his gaze. “I’m really excited. Everything is so new and different, and it feels like a fresh start. I’m looking forward to exploring the city and settling into our new life here.”

Jin’s smile widened, and he moved closer to me, his hand brushing against my lower back as he reached for a pan. “I’m glad to hear that. We’ve all been looking forward to having you here, and I think you’re going to love it.”

As we continued cooking, Jin’s touches became more frequent, each one a subtle reminder of his presence. His hands lingered a little longer on my waist, and when he passed behind me, his fingers occasionally grazed the curve of my hip. The proximity and gentle touches made my heart race, and I could feel a blush creeping up my cheeks.

Jin seemed to notice my reaction, his own cheeks tinged with a faint pink. He cast a quick, playful glance in my direction. “You know, you’re really making this morning special. I’m glad we’re spending it together.”

Before I could respond, the sound of footsteps and muffled voices signaled that the other boys were starting to wake up. Jin and I quickly finished up our preparations, setting the table with the spread of breakfast items. The aroma of the meal wafted through the house, drawing the boys to the kitchen like moths to a flame.

One by one, the boys stumbled into the kitchen, their sleepy faces brightening at the sight of the breakfast spread. Namjoon, who was always the first to wake up, looked particularly pleased as he saw the homemade meal.

“Wow, Ava, this looks incredible,” Namjoon said, taking a seat at the table. “You’ve really outdone yourself.”

I blushed at the compliment, trying to hide my nervousness. “Thank you, Namjoon. I wanted to do something special for our first morning here.”

As the boys took their seats, the conversation flowed naturally, their teasing and jokes making me laugh. They picked up chopsticks with practiced ease, and the clinking of utensils and the hum of conversation created a lively atmosphere.

While we ate, the boys continued to tease and joke, their playful banter adding to the warmth of the morning. At one point, I found myself being fed by Namjoon, who insisted on making sure I tried everything.

“Here, Ava, you have to try this,” Namjoon said, holding up a piece of toast with a dollop of fruit jam. “It’s really good.”

I took a bite, smiling at the thoughtfulness behind the gesture. “It’s delicious, Namjoon. Thank you.”

Namjoon’s hand rested on my inner thigh, his touch warm and reassuring. Every time his fingers brushed my skin, a pleasant shiver traveled through me, and I couldn’t help but blush. It was clear that he was enjoying teasing me, and his affectionate gestures made my heart flutter.

The other boys noticed the subtle interactions and couldn’t resist teasing Namjoon about it. “Looks like Namjoon’s really getting into the spirit of things,” Yoongi remarked with a grin.

Jin joined in with a smirk. “Yeah, he’s definitely not holding back this morning.”

Namjoon chuckled, his gaze still fixed on me. “I’m just making sure Ava feels welcome. Is that so wrong?”

I blushed deeper, my heart racing as I tried to focus on the conversation around me. The boys’ playful remarks and Namjoon’s gentle touch created a warm and affectionate atmosphere that made me feel cherished and special.

As breakfast continued, I found myself being fed a variety of delicious dishes, each bite accompanied by the boys’ playful banter and affectionate gestures. It was clear that they were all eager to make me feel at home, and their efforts were deeply appreciated.

When breakfast was finally over, the boys helped clean up and put away the leftovers. The playful energy from the meal lingered in the air, and I felt a deep sense of contentment. The morning had been filled with laughter, affection, and the warmth of new beginnings.

Jin, who had been particularly attentive throughout the morning, gave me a warm smile as we finished cleaning up. “I hope you enjoyed the breakfast as much as we did. It was really nice spending this time together.”

I returned his smile, feeling a flutter of affection. “I did. Thank you, Jin. It was a wonderful start to our new life here.”

The boys began discussing their plans for the day, their excitement about exploring the city and settling into our new routine palpable. I felt a sense of anticipation for the adventures that awaited us and a deep appreciation for the boys’ kindness and support.

As we prepared to head out for the day, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much had changed in such a short time. From the initial surprise of moving to Korea to the warmth and affection of the boys, the journey had been filled with unexpected moments and heartfelt connections.

With the boys by my side, I was ready to embrace the new chapter of our lives in Korea, filled with hope, excitement, and the promise of unforgettable moments together.
