chapter eleven
The months following graduation passed in a whirlwind of activity. I dove into the next chapter of my life with a blend of excitement and apprehension, but the constant support of the seven men who had become such an integral part of my world made each day a bit brighter. As I settled into a new routine, their presence remained a comforting constant. The bond we had built over the past months was growing stronger, and with it, the romantic undercurrents that had always simmered just beneath the surface.
One warm summer evening, we gathered for a casual dinner at Seokjin’s restaurant. It had become a special tradition for us to meet there regularly, where we could enjoy delicious food and each other’s company in a relaxed setting. Tonight felt different, though—there was a palpable sense of excitement in the air, and I couldn’t help but wonder what was on their minds.
As we settled into our usual corner table, the atmosphere was filled with lighthearted chatter and playful banter. Seokjin had outdone himself with a menu of our favorite dishes, and the evening began with laughter and clinking glasses.
“So,” Namjoon said, his eyes twinkling with mischief, “now that you’ve graduated, what are your plans, Ava? Any big changes on the horizon?”
I looked at him, sensing the underlying tone in his question. “I’m still figuring things out,” I replied with a smile. “But I’m excited about the possibilities.”
Jungkook, who had been quietly observing, leaned in with a grin. “Well, we’ve been thinking about changes too. Our schedules are getting more hectic, and we might need to make some adjustments.”
“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “What kind of adjustments?”
Hoseok, ever the enthusiastic one, jumped in. “You know, the usual. Touring, recording, and—” He paused dramatically, “—moving to Korea.”
My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Korea. I had known that their career as idols meant frequent travel, but the idea of them moving to Korea was a significant shift. It also meant that our time together would become more limited, and the thought stirred a mix of excitement and sadness in me.
“Moving to Korea?” I echoed, trying to keep my voice steady.
Taehyung reached across the table, taking my hand in his with a gentle squeeze. “Yes. It’s something we’ve been discussing. Our careers are reaching a point where being based there would make things a lot easier.”
Jimin leaned in, his gaze warm and sincere. “It’s a big step, and we wanted to make sure you’re aware of it. We’ve been thinking about how this will impact us and wanted to be open with you.”
Seokjin, with his characteristic charm, added, “But don’t worry. We’re not planning to disappear from your life. We want to find a balance where we can support each other, no matter where we are.”
I nodded, processing the information. The idea of them moving was both exciting and daunting. The thought of navigating a long-distance relationship was intimidating, but their reassurances helped ease my worries.
“I appreciate you telling me,” I said, meeting each of their gazes in turn. “It’s a lot to take in, but I’m glad we’re talking about it openly.”
Jungkook’s eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint. “And don’t think we’re letting you off the hook so easily. We’ll be needing someone to visit us in Korea regularly, and we’re counting on you.”
His playful tone made me laugh, and I could feel the tension in the room easing. “I suppose I’ll have to start brushing up on my Korean then.”
Namjoon grinned. “That’s the spirit. We’ll help you with that. Besides, we’ll be sure to make your visits as enjoyable as possible.”
As the evening wore on, the conversation became more relaxed, and the romantic undertones of our interactions grew more apparent. There were lingering glances, gentle touches, and flirtatious remarks that hinted at the deepening feelings we had for each other.
Yoongi, who had been relatively quiet, suddenly broke the silence. “Ava, I know this might sound forward, but I’ve been thinking a lot about us. I really value what we have, and I don’t want to take it for granted.”
His words were met with soft murmurs of agreement from the others, and I felt a rush of affection. “I feel the same way, Yoongi. This relationship means a lot to me, and I want us to continue growing together.”
Hoseok, ever the romantic, added, “We’ve all been feeling the same. The distance might be challenging, but we’re committed to making it work. We want to build something lasting and meaningful, no matter where we are.”
Taehyung reached over and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close in a warm embrace. “We’re all in this together, Ava. We care about you deeply, and we’re excited about the future we can build.”
As I listened to their heartfelt words, I felt a mix of emotions—gratitude, affection, and a tinge of apprehension. The idea of them moving to Korea was daunting, but it was clear that they were committed to finding a way to make our relationship work.
As dessert was served, I decided it was time to share some of my own thoughts and feelings. I took a deep breath and looked around at the men who had become such an important part of my life.
“There’s something I want to say,” I began, my voice steady but emotional. “I’ve been thinking a lot about our future and what it means for us. I know you’re all excited about moving to Korea and pursuing your careers, and I support you completely. But I also need to be honest about my own feelings.”
The group fell silent, their expressions attentive and concerned. I continued, “I’ve always dreamed of being a housewife, of creating a home and being present in that space. The idea of moving to Korea and navigating a long-distance relationship is overwhelming to me. I want to support your dreams, but I also want to find a way to balance that with my own aspirations.”
Jimin reached across the table and gently touched my hand. “Ava, we understand. It’s important to us that you feel supported and fulfilled in our relationship. We want to find a way to make this work for everyone.”
Namjoon nodded in agreement. “We value your dreams and your happiness just as much as we value our own. We’ll work together to find a solution that respects both our goals and your desires.”
The sincerity in their voices and their willingness to address my concerns filled me with a sense of relief. “Thank you for understanding. I know this isn’t easy, and I appreciate your support.”
Hoseok, with his characteristic optimism, added, “We’re a team, Ava. We’ll find a way to make this work. It might take some creativity and compromise, but we’re committed to making sure everyone’s needs are met.”
Taehyung squeezed my shoulder reassuringly. “We’ll figure it out together. Your happiness is important to us, and we want to make sure you feel valued and supported in our relationship.”
As the evening drew to a close, I felt a renewed sense of hope and connection. The challenges ahead were significant, but with the support of the seven men who had become my family, I felt ready to face whatever the future held. Our relationship was evolving, and while the road ahead would be complex, the love and commitment we shared would guide us through.
When we finally said our goodbyes and I left the restaurant, the night air was cool and refreshing. I looked up at the stars, feeling a sense of excitement for the journey we were about to embark on together. With the promise of open communication and mutual support, I was eager to embrace the future and explore the possibilities that lay ahead.
