CHAPTER 3

Standing tall and proud, the majestic peak of Kailash was adorned in a pristine carpet of gleaming white. As the first rays of sun touched the glistening snow, a dazzling spectacle of light unfolded. The ice crystals delicately reflected the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing play of sparkles that seem to dance and twinkle with each gentle breeze, singing the praises of Uma Shankar.

Mahadev was in meditation, his eyes were closed and his mind fixed on the name 'Ram' like always. Mata Parvati was sitting beside him, her smiling face radiating a glow, the glory of which cannot be sung even by Brahma with his four heads, then what to speak of mere mortals.

But the tranquil stillness of the surroundings fell prey to the brutal intrusion of a chariot, shattering the peaceful atmosphere with its harsh sounds. The insistence of the chariot's wheels grinding against the terrain sent forth loud screeches, as metal scraped against stones, creating a dissonant noise of discordant notes.

A chariot made of gold which was being pulled by a mongoose halted in front of them both. Mahadev, whose glittering skin was smeared with ash, still had his eyes closed, but Mata Parvati stared at the plump figure climbing down from the gem-studded chariot.

"Jagatpita aur Jagatmata ko Kuber ka pranaam." The king of Yakshas said with a deep bow.

Mahadev opened his eyes and with arched brows he keenly looked at his ardent devotee. His beautiful smile, that offers shelter to all, welcomed Kuber.

"Padhariye Kuber." Mata Parvati said in an ever so pleasant tone.

"Alkavati chhod, yaha kaise ana huya aaj itne samaye baad ?" Mahadev asked.

"Prabhu, Mata, mai aapke shricharano mei ek nimantran laya hu." Kuber said, a proud smile gracing his face.

"Kaisa nimantran ?" Mata Parvati asked.

"Mai, dhan aur aishwarya ka swami, Kuber chaahta hu ki aap sab mere bhavya bhavan mei padhaare, aur mere Mahabhoj mei samellit ho. Maine sabhi Devi devtao ko nimantrit kiya hai." Kuber said.

Mahadev and Mata Parvati looked at each other, both could hear the subtle arrogance lacing from his voice, and make out that it was not an invitation for a feast but a showoff of his wealth.

"Meri prathna swikar kare." Kuber said.

"Kuber, Kailash parvat chhod ke mai nahi aa sakta." Mahadev said.

"Aur pati ke bina mera ana bhi sambhav nahi." Mata Parvati said.

"Arthat aapke chaukhat se mujhe niraash lautna hoga ?" Kuber asked with a frown.

Mahadev and Mata Parvati smiled, they both knew exactly what needs to be done and who will do it.

"Kuber, aap itne prem se nimantran laaye hai, use him aswikar kaise karde ?" Mata Parvati said.

"Tatparya ?" Kuber asked.

"Aap humare putra Ganesh ko le jaaye." Mahadev said.

"Jaisi aapki iccha Prabhu. Mai balak Gajanan ko hi le chalta hu apne saath." Kuber said.

Mata Parvati called upon her younger son. Soon Ganesh arrived, riding mushak. A gentle smile was plastered on his face, emanating his benevolence and auspiciousness. He gracefully mounted off his vahan, and reverently bowed before his parents.

"Mere liye kya aagya hai ?" He asked.

"Putra, hum chaahte hai ki tum, humare sthaan par Kuber ke bhoj mei samellit ho." Mahadev said.

"Jaisa aap kahe." Ganesh nodded, he then turned to his mother and bowed, "Aagya." He seeked her permission. Mata Parvati smiled and gave him an assuring nod.

"Chaliye Balak Gajanan, mere ratno se jade rath par sawaar ho jaayiye." Kuber said.

Ganesh raised a brow at his show off, but he complied never the less, "Awashya." He said to Kuber and mounted on his splendid chariot.

Situated amidst Himalayas, Alkapuri was possessing such a unique allure that it captivated the hearts of all who were visiting. The crisp mountain air, filled with the fragrance of wildflowers, was invigorating the senses and rejuvenating the soul.

This city of Yakshas was filled with mansions and palaces, which were spangled with numerous varieties of jewels. The city boasted groves, parks, and gardens, all of which were replete with various species of trees. Inside several beautiful lakes adorned the city, outside river Alakhnanda surrounded its perimeter.

The residents of Alkapuri, who possessed a natural grace and beauty, were adorned in exquisite garments made of shimmering fabrics and adorned with gemstones that reflected the dazzling sunlight.

Suvarchas of Harihareshwari and Jaladri of Shreeshaktiswar, landed in the resplendent city of Alkavati that could rival Amaravati of Indra. Mounting off their vahans and walking towards the palace, they were welcomed by the wife of Kuber, Bhadra.

"Aapke aane se humari nagri dhanya huyi. Padhariye." She said.

Srinav and Amarsri were then escorted inside by the sons of Kuber, Nalkuber and Manibhadra. The palace was decorated par excellence, several gods had already arrived with their wives, their presence increasing the opulence of the place even more.

Seeing Harihareshwari and Shreeshaktiswar arrive, Indra and Indrani approached them.

"Pranaam." They greeted each other with smiling faces.

"Hey Devi, hey Prabhu, atyant samaye baad aap dono ke darshan huye. Ramsuta Rameshwari aur Samridhhiputra Mrunmaye ke avtar ne iss shrishti ko anandit kar diya tha." Indra said.

"Satyavachan. Kintu Aaj aapko yaha dekh, man aur bhi anandit ho utha." Indrani said.

"Dhanyawad." Srinav said.

"Kintu Devi, aapki bahut yaad aati thi. Aapke upasthiti ke bina, Indralok ke bhoj sune se lagte the." Indrani said.

"Oh Sachi." Amarsri smiled holding the hands of the queen of gods and said, "Abhi toh mai yahi hu. Jab tak agle avatar ka samaye na aaye."

"Mujhe vishwas hai ki aapka agla avatar aur bhi anandmayi hoga." Sachi said with a grin.

"Kya pata iss baar tumhe bhi sang aane ka mauka mile ?" Amarsri smiled.

"Kintu mere bina nahi Devi." Indra said jestfully.

"Aapke Bina kaise devraj ?" Indrani chuckled.

Srinav chuckled, "Devraj ka vash chale toh Indrani ke vilaas ke liye ek se adhik roop dharan karle."

"Jaise aap nahi karenge apni patni ke liye ?" Indra said, a mischievous smile gracing his lips.

"Yadi Devi ki iccha ho toh kyu nahi ?" Srinav said wrapping his arms round Amarsri who giggled.
