08; Do You Wanna Run Away Together?
The next morning, Mackenzie felt her eyes flutter open and came face to face with a sleeping Dean. She couldn't stop a smile from appearing on her face when she thought about what happened between them the night before.
She still couldn't believe she had lost her virginity to him. It was something she had thought about before, but never thought it would happen- mostly because she never thought she would see him again. But somehow their paths had crossed again, that had to mean something, right?
As she watched him sleep, her smile turned into a frown. Maybe she was reading too much into things. She didn't know much about sex, but from what she had read online when she was supposed to be researching, she learned that most guys viewed sex as just that...sex. It didn't mean anything to them, it was just something they did to pass the time until the next girl came along. What if Dean were like the boys she read about?
Keeping an eye on him, she slowly slid out of the bed- careful not to wake him up. She knew it was her own fault for catching feelings for him, but she just couldn't handle hearing his apologies or excuses on why they couldn't see each other again. She knew that would break her heart.
She tiptoed around the room to find her clothes- she found her bra under the bed and tank top on the other side of the room. After putting the bra back on, she began to walk softly toward the bed and slipped the tank top on.
Reaching the end of the bed, she had her back facing it when she spied her panties and picked them up from the floor. As she slipped them on, Dean opened his eyes and felt confused when he saw an empty space beside him.
He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and pushed himself up from the bed, then turned his head to the side. He smirked when he saw her bent over to look for the discarded blue jean skirt- he had to admit, he loved seeing that ass in the air.
"What are you doing?" He yawned and turned from his stomach to sit up in bed.
Hearing his sleepy tone, she froze- like a deer caught in headlights. With an uncomfortable chuckle escaping her lips, she turned to look at him. "I was trying to make a quick escape, but failing miserably at it."
"Why?" he asked confused.
Deciding the best thing she could do was be honest, she softly said, "Because we both know what this is, Dean, it's nothing but a one night stand." She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at saying the words out loud, she wished it meant as much to him as it did to her.
"Is that what you want it to be?" he quietly asked. He was disappointed as well to hear her comment. To him, it was much more than a one night stand and he couldn't help but be bummed that it didn't mean more to her.
"It doesn't matter what I want it to be...it is what it is." She gave him a small shrug.
Leaning forward to grab her hand, he pulled her back onto the bed with him. Normally he wouldn't care what a girl thought or tried to get her to stay afterward- mostly because with those it was a one night stand to him, but Mackenzie was different, what he felt for her was deep and real.
"It matters to me; so tell me honestly, do you want this to be a one night stand?"
"No," she whispered.
He laid a hand on the side of her neck, lightly running his thumb against her cheek. "Good, 'cause it wasn't a one night stand to me either."
"Really?"
"Really." He leaned forward to softly kiss her lips. If his words didn't convince her, he hoped his actions would.
Leaning back on the bed, he pulled her with him, causing her to land on top of him. He ran a hand down her back, then heard her giggle when he lightly smacked her butt- after seeing it as soon as he woke up, he had been itching to touch it.
"I think we should hang out today," he suggested, the request would have surprised him if it was anyone else. He never offered to hang out with the girl afterward, but he wasn't ready for this to end with her.
"And what should we do?" She smiled.
"We could do more of what we did last night." He flashed her a cocky grin and wiggled his eyebrows.
"You mean get drunk at a country bar?" she joked.
"No, I mean when I rocked your world last night," he said with a grin still on his face.
"Oh, is that what you were trying to do last night?" she questioned as if in deep thought. "Huh, I didn't get that at all."
"Hey, don't act like you didn't enjoy it." He playfully scoffed. "I gave you all my best moves."
She shrugged, then joked, "They were okay, not great, but okay."
"Hm, maybe someone needs a little reminder." He rolled them over so he was on top and in control.
She giggled when he leaned down to brush his lips against hers before he began to kiss down to the side of her neck. She closed her eyes and moaned as he ran a hand down her side and slipped it under her shirt. He moved his hand up her body, exploring her soft skin.
He smiled against her skin when she continued to moan and run her nails up and down his bare back, just like she did the night before.
"Remember now?" He began to nibble and suck on her neck.
"Oh yes, I remember." She moaned. "I still wouldn't mind a reminder though."
He smirked, then moved his hand down to the bottom of her tank top. He began to raise it up, then stopped when his cell phone began to ring.
"Damn it," he swore, then leaned over her body to grab the phone from the bedside table.
He looked at the caller ID, then quickly sat up straight on the bed before flipping it open to greet his father.
Mackenzie couldn't hear what was being said over the phone, but she could tell by Dean's expression that it wasn't a happy conversation.
"Yes, sir, the case is done, but I thought I would stick around for a bit longer to make sure everything's okay," Dean said over the phone. He hated lying to his father, but the truth was he wanted to hang around a little longer to spend time with Mackenzie. He had been working case after case and felt like he deserved some time off- apparently, his dad didn't agree though.
"But, Dad..." She watched his facial expression change before he sighed. "Yes, sir, I'll leave tomorrow morning."
"Everything okay?" Mackenzie asked when he ended the call.
"Yeah, everything's fine," Dean answered. "I just need to leave tomorrow." It wasn't much of a break, but at least he could have a day with her.
"Well, I guess we better make the most of today then." She gave him a soft smile, then laid her hands on his shoulders to rub them, from the look on his face she knew he was feeling tense and stressed out.
"Yeah." He let out a sigh when he felt her lips against his skin. He turned to face her, giving her a gentle kiss. "How about we go grab some lunch? You hungry?"
He wanted nothing more than to spend the whole day in bed with her, but he could hear his own stomach growling and figured it was time for them to refuel.
"Starving," she softly said, her lips inches from his. She gave him a deep kiss, then grinned. "And I could use some food too."
He chuckled at her comment, then slowly shook his head. "Girl, the things I could do to you, but they'll have to wait until later."
"Promise?"
"Scouts honor." He held up three fingers.
"Please." She playfully scoffed. "Like you were ever a scout."
"You got me." He laughed, then nodded toward the bathroom. "You want to take a shower first? You can still borrow a shirt if you want."
"Thanks." She stood up from the bed, then grabbed her skirt and Dean's t-shirt before walking into the bathroom for a warm shower.
As the bathroom door shut, he sighed and ran his hands over his face. He hated losing Mackenzie ten years again- he always told himself if he got lucky enough to find her again, he wouldn't let her go, but come tomorrow that was exactly what he had to do. He had no other choice...or did he?

Later that day, after having lunch at a nice outdoor cafe, the two rode around some- just enjoying each other's company and singing way too loud at songs playing on the radio.
After exploring the small town, Dean made his way outside the town limits and came across an empty state park. After pulling into the parking lot and shutting off the car, they both exited the car and sat beside each other on the hood of the car.
Dean laid back on the windshield and shifted back and forth a few times to get comfortable, then pulled Mackenzie down beside him and wrapped an arm around her. She rested her head on his chest as they both watch the sun set slowly over the mountains in the distance. The mood was somber as they both realized their time together was running out.
"I hate that I have to leave tomorrow," Dean softly said as he rested his head on top of hers.
"Me too, but I guess it's for the best," Mackenzie said, trying to convince herself the statement was true. "Michael and I will probably be leaving soon anyway since I assume he destroyed the spirit I sent him after."
"Where are you two headed next?" he questioned, hoping somehow their paths would cross again.
"I don't know. I haven't looked for a new case yet." She was quiet in thought for a moment. "You're lucky you know, your dad trust you enough to do a case on your own."
"Maybe your dad will let you go solo soon."
"Yeah, when hell freezes over." She scoffed.
He looked down at the top of her head and tried to decide if he should say what he had been thinking all morning. He was worried about what her answer would be, he didn't think he could handle rejection.
He finally took a deep breath and went for it. "What would you think about leaving with me?"
"Why, Dean Winchester, are you asking me to run away with you?" she joked, then lifted her head to look at him.
"You bet your sweet ass I am." He smiled. "What do you say? I'll even let you hunt and not just research."
She smiled at his request, then felt her face fall when the words really hit her and the fear set in. "I-I don't know, Dean."
"What do you mean you don't know? You've said it yourself, your dad's an asshole."
"I know, but, he's still my father. He's all I have." She sat up and turned to look at him, hoping he would understand.
"He's not all you have. You have me too, Kenz, and call me selfish, but I don't want to say goodbye to you," he softly said, laying a hand on her cheek.
She leaned into his hand and sighed as she thought about his offer. She would love to leave with him and actually hunt for once, she knew she could learn a lot from him, And there was the added bonus of spending every moment with him. But she wasn't sure if she could just leave Michael.
It was true that he was a jerk, but he was the last family she had left. Could she really look Michael in the eyes, tell him bye and never look back?
"I know there's not a lot of time, but could you let me think about it a little bit?"
"I'll tell you what, if you change your mind, meet me tomorrow morning at ten, okay?"
"Okay, where?"
"Our spot. Where it all began," he answered vaguely.
"Which is where?" she asked confused.
"The place where we have ran into each other...literally, more than once." He smiled.
"Ah, the library." She nodded, finally getting what he meant.
"That's it." He silently looked at her for a moment. "I guess I better get you back now, huh?"
"Yeah, I have a lot of thinking to do." She sighed. There was a big part of her that wanted to scream yes to his offer now, but the other part of her- the part that was winning at the moment- was terrified of change.
Leaning forward, he gave her a quick kiss. "Okay, let's go."

Dean pulled the car in front of her motel room and put the car in park, then turned to look at her with a small smile on his face. The whole ride to her motel, he kept hoping she would decide to go with him, but he understood she needed time. He just really hoped this wouldn't be the last time he saw her.
"I had a great time with you today." She gave him a soft smile. "I really needed a good day, so thank you."
"Anytime." He leaned forward to capture her lips.
He pulled back for a moment, laying his hands on either side of her face and looked at her closely- like he wanted to memorize her features just in case. He brushed some hair from her face, then leaned forward to press his lips against her for a deep kiss. He knew he needed to let her go, but he was having a hard time doing that.
While they were busy kissing in the front seat, they didn't notice a lone figure watching them from the motel window. Michael released the curtain and felt his blood boiling when he instantly recognized the black Impala his daughter was sitting in. He didn't know how the hell she got involved with a Winchester, but he knew he needed to put a stop to it now.
