"Mabel!" My boss shouts at me as I enter our office. She is a funny gal. Short, late 50s, totally hip though. She has this long, glowing gray hair that she keeps tightly tied on the top of her head. Her work days were crazy and always slammed with work. It was always finished, of course. I have never met a more impeccable woman than herself. She is so strong and intelligent. And she never has a fly away on her head. Crazy, right? Women are magic.

"Hello, Celine." I smiled, reaching out for the papers she was handing to me. "What are these?" I politely asked.

She took a sip from her coffee before answering me. "These are resumes. We have interns over in the second office and are getting a run down of how our days go. I would appreciate it if you could just scan over them and get a good basis of who these few interns are before you work with them today."

Oh, Celine. I bet you she did not remember anything about these interns until ten minutes after her coffee this morning. That was rather typical of her to forget small tasks, but she is practically wonder woman and that was alright with me. It kept the office alive some days if I'm quite frank.

I counted how many resumes were separated by her blue coated paper clips. "So, there's five interns, correct?"

"Yes ma'am. You will only be with three of them, though. And for about the last half of the day. Most of this day will be sitting in meetings anyway." Celine replied.

I gave her a thumbs up, struggling not to drop my briefcase or the papers she just gave to me. I headed back to my cubicle and carefully set my things down on the desk. I plopped into my chair and started going through the resumes.

Resumes were interesting. Creating a face to match to a small amount of information given about a person was quite the game. A paper filled with schools, past jobs, or academic activities will never prepare you for the real thing. The personality, the physical features, or work ethic. I've had a girl with a year of retail experience have better work ethic than a guy with a bachelors degree. Anyways.

Maya, Emily, and Luke.

I entered their information into our system. It was funny all of the people we ran through this data base. We kept a tab on everyone who has every applied, been hired, or terminated. It's great, really.

I was on the last resume, Luke Hemmings. I scanned his resume to my file on my computer and pulled it up on my monitor. I raised an eyebrow as I stared at his headshot attached to his resume.

"Huh," I quietly said to myself, a smile growing on my face.

The Luke on this paper was clean cut, bright eyed, very young looking. The Luke I saw in the elevator was chiseled. He had stubble, and grey, sexy eyes. Much older and mature than the Luke I was looking at on my screen. Definitely the same though.

So that's his name. Luke. Now the real question is, how did he know mine? Do I even introduce myself later today? How does this work? We've never even spoken until our little moment on the elevator.

I flipped through his resume a hundred times. It was extremely impressive at such a young age. Just from this slip of paper, I could tell his age, birthday, high school he went to, and all of those weird details you wouldn't know about a person right off the bat.

"I can't wait to tell Ania about this, she's going to freak out," I thought to myself.  I peered around the room just to make sure no one could notice me drooling over a picture on a sheet of paper.

Celine caught my eye as she was hurrying over towards me. "Mabel!" She shouts again. "Our interns are over waiting in the new hire room. Would you mind giving them a tour?"

I nodded, "Of course."

I neatly stacked my papers on my desk and brushed my skirt down. I adjusted my blouse as I headed towards the small room.

I peeked my head in, a large smile spread across my face. "Good morning!" I cheerily said. I locked eyes with all interns as I walked further into the room. Emily, then Maya, then lastly Luke. "My name is Mabel Browning, I work in marketing and I'll be showing you all around today." I shook their hands firmly, butterflies erupting after grabbing a hold of Luke's.

They introduced themselves one by one, Luke as if he'd never seen or met me before. I preferred it, the last thing we both needed was a fumbled introduction.

I was now speaking to them as a group, but Luke was the most familiar to me, so my eyes stayed on him the most.

"We're extremely excited to have you guys on board." I said, dazed by his heavy stare on me with a smug smile. "Our company is looking forward to providing the best internship possible." His hand moved up to his mouth slowly as I spoke. "And we're all in this to learn," His pointer finger lazily grazed over his bottom lip. I took in a sharp breath and turned my attention to the girls. "And to grow as a team."

I paused, watching them nod and mumble incoherent things new and awkward interns say. I watched Luke lean back into his seat, tugging on his lower lip. I looked him dead in the eye.

"Are we ready?"
